I like Nate...but that's the biggest nonthing-burger in history.

The only way that this would be news would be if he'd heard there wouldn't be more Directs or something. Obviously there are going to be more. If you aren't sure on timing...that's not news.
The way I see it is that if he’s heard about an approaching Direct, it can’t be too far away. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see this as basic confirmation that Directs haven’t been cancelled, more so that we can expect one in the not-so-distant future.

I haven't been keeping up with Switch 2 stuff too much. Are we generally still expecting something in that regard in March?

He's literally just answering a question lmao.

Being honest, i would be fine with no Direct in Feb in favor for a Switch 2 announcement.

I just can't get excited for another Switch-only Direct (that's not a Mini or Partner Showcase) ... imo they've mostly started to scrape the barrel with the last one, despite having new announcements.

And the pessimist (or realist?) in me thinks that they might hold the Prime 4 unveiling back for the Switch 2 announcement, being a cross-gen game. Like wanting to show the game at it's best, while casually mentioning it's still coming to Switch 1 in the same sentence.
I agree. Honestly it'd be fascinating if we managed to get both somehow, but the odds of that happening are... low at best.

Personally I'm still a fan of my unhinged "We're getting a Switch 2 trailer soon before the Superbowl so Nintendo can advertise there, Nintendo Direct later this month that can show Switch 2 games" theory. Sounds more fun that way.

Just think about it... at this very moment...

Pyoro is slowly wiping off his gold plated keyboard, slowly rubbing the cloth gently along it's side. He has the list of Direct leaks set on his desk in a nice leather bound binder. He is preparing to load his Twitter and getting ready for that fateful moment where he reveals to each and every one of you the secrets of the Direct. He gently places his hand onto the tall leather executive office chair and begins to swivel it around. The computer button pressed on...

You are NOT prepared for this...

If it's any consolation it looks like Nintendo is not giving anything a Direct spotlight 😅

It either means the direct is a absolute blast (so they exclude smaller games) or there isn‘t a direct (about nothing). Which option do you prefer?
i am willing to sacrifice the cute, felt forest animals being featured in a direct if that means we get a switch 2 announcement instead.

i'm sorry cute, felt forest animals, this is for the greater good!

The whimsical forest animals when I'm told i need a sacrifice for a Switch 2 trailer:

No whimsical forest animals were sacrificed in the making of this comment. If whimsical forest animals were used in a cult ritual to manifest a Switch 2, I'd be the first to know.

Mini direct would be fine. A lot of presentations are overly long and contain stuff that ruin the momentum of proceedings.

I want this read to me by Bob Ross, god this would be perfect ASMR 😩

I think it is a mini direct everyone. Nate knowing, but not sure of the date feels very “Mini Direct will drop”
It won't be a Mini because Metroid Prime 4 is not Mini material.

I am channeling my inner Lukas and willing Metroid Prime 4's appearance into existence.

Isn't it usually like that?

Ngl, I read it in a combination of the novel and filmed Patrick Bateman with Christian Bale's voice, but yours works too.
We don't have to wait much longer to find out either way if Nate's podcast is still on track for this week
It's still a week away at least... Idk, play Persona 3 Reload in the meantime, actual peak fiction.

Let’s go mini direct. Cut out the farm simulators games, give me a paper Mario release date, NSO roadmap and shadow drop a Zelda port on my face

Do you think Nintendo feels like Prime 4 has to be shown off in a Switch Direct first since it was announced for Switch or do you think they'd show it off first for Switch 2 to show it at its best?
The only thing that immediately swears off Prime 4 in the next direct, IMO, is if it's a Mini. If it's a General, it's open season

watch the Switch 1 retirement plan Direct be the full length one, while the Switch 2 reveal is a mini and merely a tease for a full reveal in the summer...

i mean we'll find out in the next direct, no?

In case anyone missed it, Nick went into a little more detail about the 'Nintendo Direct should be next week' comment that was made in the reddit thread about his initial comment:

"It's what I had heard but Feb tends to be fairly normal for Nintendo anyway no?"

"I mean, in the end, this is Nintendo. I probably shouldn't have said anything on Prime's show, and it's a lesson I don't seem to learn. In my head, I was like "It's what I'm hearing", which is why I was in his chat as opposed to being more definitive like when I posted the SoP on Twitter or when I put stuff on our show on the Rumour Mill."

I’d be just fine with a Mini, as long as that means there’s still a first-party focus. I want to see more + a date for TTYD, a nice big NSO roadmap update, and maybe finally some badly needed Metroid Prime 2+3 and/or WW/TP ports!

if Nintendo has no more Switch 1-only games to announce, I could see a mini making more sense to mostly just put dates on everything and maybe provide details like NSO roadmaps

maybe a bold statement (or wild cope), but even if it's a mini, as long as it's not a partner mini I still think Prime 4 would have a chance to show up there

Kit and Krysta feels things are weird. They go through all the little news we’ve been getting and they don’t feel we are getting a big general direct in February. They think a smaller direct
