I mean, it WAS the worst insult from a major gaming company in the last decade. I literally shouted "F*CK YOU" at my screen /s

This person is getting has been annoying fast for a very long time
The wildest thing about the Bakugan announcement is that we somehow got both of the most anticipated things from that Treehouse announced this year (Wayforward working on a Nintendo IP and Metroid)

Also, the fact that Samus Hunter has so unerringly copied Emily twice now means that they're definitely lurking here

new playstation colors are swag
The only alternate-color PS5 I want is that brass one DIY Perks made.

it’s very “royal” purple, which usually just instills me with regicide

which is NOT a spray you use for an infestation of Reggies!

if you have a Bowser infestation, call a plumber
As though we'd try to stop a Reggie infestation.

This person is getting annoying fast.

Right? Doesn't she know Thugstas is the only one allowed to wink? 😑

The little we saw of FFXVI doesn't seem much better either. I'm glad we still have Dragon Quest.
Imagine going back 20 years and telling ourselves that eventually the only good thing Square will produce is Dragon Quest. 😅

This is going to be harsh, but I wish SamusHunter and all these Twitter frauds can just fuck off. Like, it's very clear they are now scouting these forums, taking info from actual industry folk and parading it as their own. All while Emily, Nate, and others continue to get insulted and harassed.
That horse hint from Emily about the casual game is one of the finest work of Samus Hunter

I mean come on you can make your own shit but stop taking infos from other leakers and post them as yours

A little bit of depth and strategising but nothing too mad is probably best - over the past year we've been playing a lot of collaborative games (like Horrified, Forbidden Desert, Pandemic) that encourage planning and chatting about what we're both doing, or things you can go 1v1 in like Villainous (I know some people hate it but we've been kind of enjoying the asymmetrical gameplay objectives). Ideal player count is probably 2 and upwards, stuff we can play while stuck inside during the pandemic but later on use at gatherings.

He's pretty open-minded though and enjoys novel concepts - we've also played a good few rounds of Fog of Love and found it really funny.

I'm considering Forbidden Sky or Ticket to Ride (we've never played it!), or something by Ravensburger based on an existing property like The Princess Bride.

We actually don't have a copy of Scrabble at home so I might pick this up anyway, lol. We've been playing Bananagrams for our word game fix.
I friggin love Ticket to Ride, I think Europe version is better, but it has two added rules besides the map. It is not my favorite to play in two, but some people disagree with me on it. But for more people I think it is really great.
In a similar weight I could recommend Photosynthesis, it can be a really good area control with a nice enviromental theming. Sushi Go Party is a fun light draft game, never played in two to say if it works.
Welcome To is a flip a fun roll-and-write game that scales to any number of people and can be played online with no problems, but is a bit more solitary.
I´ve been playing Azul a lot online with my brother and so far we have been having a blast playing in 2 to 4, but it is really abstract and not really interactive, so I´m not sure you would enjoy that much. Have you played Carcassonne? I think it works well in more people, but it really shines as a 2 player experience. If I remember anything else I´ll send here.
Some games I haven´t played but you could consider (recommend looking for some reviews to see if it would work):
Vast: Heavier than those you mentioned, has full asymmetry; Spirit Island: Way heavier than those, but it is coop and has some asymmetry in it); Marvel Comic Hunters light draft card game, has some great reviews and recommended in every player count; PARKS and Cascadia seems to be both simple I´ve not read much about them in details, but they´re very highly rated.

(Off-topic I´ve thought about asking of sugesting a Boardgames OT in The Roost for a while, but not sure if there´s enough interest)

Is that another "insider"? I never get what these people actually get out of leaking info that is most of the time wrong. Is it to appear 'interesting' and part of some 'in-crowd' or something?
Yep. SamusHunter has been around for a while and they don't any actual sources. They just take the info from others, or at least piggyback off of others, just for some short live internet fame. SamusHunter and people like them are the NFTs of insiders.

I simply do not believe any "insider" who does not offer me hope of a new Custom Robo.

I do not see it.

Coming back to Fami after a weekend spent mourning the lack of a Chrono Cross announcement:

What is my backlog except games which should be ignored for remakes of grander titles? Put more succinctly: what is a backlog but inferiority persevering?

After a rough couple years of isolation, being diagnosed with a chronic condition, having surgery, relapsing on depression, and gaining a lot of weight because of all that shit, I'm finally feeling better and will force myself to go back to the gym and get back the self esteem I lost in that process. 2022 will be a good year!

That game looks extremely uninteresting for me. It seems devoid of any of the whimsy I would expect from a SE game, it looks very generic. Even the protagonist, being a black woman should check all the right boxes but she just looks... I don't know, pedestrian?

The little we saw of FFXVI doesn't seem much better either. I'm glad we still have Dragon Quest.
Isn't the next Dragon Quest game being billed as a Dragon Quest "for adults"? Square just wants to watch the world burn.

There's a common misconception that I get insulted or harassed a lot because I'm a woman. But that's simply not true. Most people in the gaming community have been very kind and respectful to me.

One time, Resetera tallied up every insider's rumors to see how accurate each person was. Over an entire decade, almost 90% of the stuff I reported turned out accurate. So, in my opinion, I have nothing to prove to people. I don't care what people think of me. I have a family and a well-paying job. I'm very happy with my life, and I have very little regrets.

If people like SamusHunter want to pretend to be me, then I'm flattered.

I think that "lacking whimsy, fun, colors and varied environments" is my biggest criticism of modern Square. Forspoken, Strange of Paradise, FF16 (what little we've seen, granted), even FF7Remake to an extent (although that might improve in part 2) are all so... bland and boring-looking. Where are the bright colors, the whimsy, the lush gorgeous environments?

This is one big reason I'm so looking forward to Chrono Cross and FF9 returning as they both have that in spades. And it's not like Square can't still do that, look at games like DQ11 or Trials of Mana.

I still don't like RPG's that block you in that fashion, but its only a minor complaint when faced with the fact that Torna improved the battle system from 2, has the best battle theme of the three (I have not played X) and the ending is.....

Oh god, now I'm thinking of the ending again >.>

Yo that BATTLE THEME

Also, "Torna - Day" is the most beautiful video game music I've ever heard, to this day

the game is set in the area that's intentionally worn down. and even then it has the bright colors

Didn’t realize I had a 5 dollar rewards coupon at Best Buy so I used that to get big brain academy. That’s it from me for now

A couple of my friends are into V-Tubers and I just don't understand the craze...

"Insert Simpson it'll happen to you meme"

Xenoblade always excels at music. Always.

FFXV, despite its main cast looking like an emo band (we love them), is very brightly colored and has those lush scenarios.

The best way to deal with Samus Hunter and their ilk is the same way you deal with the giant advertisements come to life in that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror:

Isn't the next Dragon Quest game being billed as a Dragon Quest "for adults"? Square just wants to watch the world burn.
Eh I'm 90% sure that's just marketing speak.

Dragon Quest has always had some extremely dark, violent and mature themes. This time they're just probably going to market those more.

So...you would suggest that, an insider tier list, wou- shot

WE THE BEST

Haven't had this song stuck in my head in a minute.

Not that I'm complaining, mad catchy

I don’t disagree that silksong would never show up in an Indieworld, but what would you consider is bigger (in terms of indies shown at IW).

Bigger:
Among Us
Stardew Valley
Cuphead

Similar:
Ori
Ori 2
Shovel Knight Spectre/King
Hades

Eh, kind of. I said "to some degree" because it does have its moments, but in general it feels much more in line with their recent games. And I don't think this screen looks much better on that front, it's just a place that's a little greener. I do give it a bit of a pass since as you said it's in Midgar which... sucks, on purpose. We'll see what Part 2 looks like.

Granted I didn't finish the game and only got mid-way through, but the beginning parts at least of FF15 sure seemed pretty boring and bland to me as well.

I don't think I've loved the look or art direction of a big AAA Square game since... maybe the FF13 trilogy. And nearly every game before that was even better, particularly games like FF9 and FF12. Maybe my problem is that I just don't like overly-realistic-looking fantasy games. I want fantasy games to LOOK like a fantasy world, not more realistic.

Isn't the next Dragon Quest game being billed as a Dragon Quest "for adults"? Square just wants to watch the world burn.

Honestly? At best, I'd expect the order to be given to Toriyama and his aids to give the game a more "mature" artstyle to help it appeal more to the West (which should be reasonable, it wouldn't take much to "DBZ-ify" Dragon Quest any further), and amp up the razzle-dazzle for attack animations because "spectacle" is easily the one area that DQ can always improve on. Then just do more in the same vein of what the series already does pretty well, because it's always been pretty damn mature in storytelling, stakes and scope. Like, they talk about how "the player's choices may impact the story" that's made for adults and it's like...DQ5 already did that, ages ago. So, if they're just doing more in that vein, then great!

Since the game still has to be able to, first and foremost, be able to sell well at home, I'm not exactly that these changes to be as "grand" as some others.

Now granted, SoP:FFO is another dark-fantasy "masocore" action game from Team Ninja, much like Nioh before it. And so, it's likely safe to assume that in many cases, the choice to be darker, bloodier and bleaker is wholly intentional.

But..."bland" and "boring-looking"?

That does look better than I've seen before! Where is this from? I was basing most of what I said off of the reveal trailer/demo, I don't think I've seen any of this before.

And to be clear, I'm still interested in it, and I don't really blame SoP for its look, as you said it fits more with the Nioh style and is more on purpose. I guess I'm just bemoaning that it feels like MOST SE games seem to be leaning that direction as well, at least the AAA ones.

She don't stop, and people keep carrying her as a gospel for leaks (even David Gibson)
Already have a discuss with her on Twitter because of this kind of things

Of course that a new sale is coming as Indie World is happening lol, any single person can predict that after the rumor that you reported (+Indie World Sale in Japan)

As an Aboriginal Australian who lives in England I am quite familiar with regicidal intent, but damn if I don't enjoy a purple xD
of course, you get a 100% pass and free reign (bare minimum reparations)

just wanted to make monarchy weebs sweaty 😎

so now that we know @Raccoon is actually SamusHunter, is this the greatest parody Twitter account of all time?

OG Psychonaut's final level the Meat Circus is legit one of the most infuriating levels I've ever experienced in a platformer.
frustrating for sure (esp since I played it on a 2009 MacBook at maybe 8-20 fps) but god do I love it

it’s such a good twist with incredible music

nothing in Psychonauts 2 lived up to it narratively, though I enjoyed the game

A good deal of this is either from a) the second beta trial from back in October, or b) from the second trailer, that arrived soon after trial was finished:

While I can definitely agree we don't have enough variety in the AAA space, the best I can say, at least for SE, is that maybe they may still be able to surprise. SoF: Origins has some color, I'm trusting FF7's remake will have more color as we continue the "series", and maybe even Forspoken may have something for those who want it (though I'll admit I'm already in the hole for that game too for other reasons LOL).

FFVIIR wasn’t that impressive artistically to me yeah. Both because it’s Midgar which isn’t gonna have stunning and varied vistas, AND because I actually don’t think they captured the tone of Midgar through the art style as well as they could. There’s no reason the undercity should be in bright daylight lol.
"who's doing ot4" he said, a little louder than before
I thought it was you? Or is the reboot of NDS a separate thing?
