those switch hardware sales tho, they just bought it

we'll buy this dumb piece of shit no matter what, but for normies it could be a tough sell
That's why it should be 500 bucks tbh. For someone who just got basic Switch, if they announced a $500 beefy model for people who want a rock solid frame rate in Animal Crossing and are willing to pay for it, they can be like "well, that's fine"

I think "you can play GTA V on the go" will go a long way towards that for the Dane.
yeah, it'll definitely be a matter of the software. they need a bunch if third party exclusives advertised, if not out, at launch. selling a portable on power will be very difficult because this thing inevitably will look pretty bad compared to the competition, so just getting ports is going to be the main mass market appeal.

I started playing Paper Mario on NSO and it's a lovely game, but it reminds me of how beautiful The Origami King is. Without a doubt the most beautiful game on the console.
also, i wish there was a CTR filter on NSO and some way to remove those terrible borders, they are horrible on the Oled.

There IS a CRT filter on NES/SNES and I believe Genesis, but I think they didn't do it for N64 because 1) they didn't want to spend the system resources on it and 2) I think they're rendering 3D elements at a higher resolution so scanlines wouldn't line up correctly? or something. I don't know, I'm not a doctor/Digital Foundry employee.

There's plenty of big deal games showcased in indie shows, even bigger than Silksong so "big deal" is also not something that excludes games from being in indie showcases.
I don’t disagree that silksong would never show up in an Indieworld, but what would you consider is bigger (in terms of indies shown at IW).

oh man i had applied for the 7 free days trial of NSO for like the 10th time in my Switch's lifetime and forgot to cancel it when it ended...yesterday

shucks...i was contemplating about buying the expansion pack.

I asked people at Ubi about the footage. They said the footage was running on a standard Switch.

I think Jason was jumping to assumptions.
This gave me a flashback when everyone was so confident that MH Rise was running on a Switch Pro or PC but it was just a standard Switch.

Quick Fami, suggest board games I can get my boyfriend for Christmas, the next Villainous expansion doesn't release until March and I can't find the American Monsters version of Horrified anywhere here. 😭

Does he prefer heavier or lighter games? How important is theme? You´re looking for a bigger or smaller playercount?

uhhh
I like scrabble?

I agree that the TGAs need less "genre" awards. It gets silly having 10 different awards for 10 different genres.
Yeah. The action+adventure category must have been the most pointless award. Ignoring the framing of it in the speech of Doug Bowser almost any game has some action and adventure.
I‘ve the feeling they just wanted to have a place for single player oriented games. They should rather have something like "Best Single Player Experience"

More bad news for Sony today, a PS4 jailbreak potentially works on PS5. (Coming in on 3rd in units for November NPD had to sting a little).

A little bit of depth and strategising but nothing too mad is probably best - over the past year we've been playing a lot of collaborative games (like Horrified, Forbidden Desert, Pandemic) that encourage planning and chatting about what we're both doing, or things you can go 1v1 in like Villainous (I know some people hate it but we've been kind of enjoying the asymmetrical gameplay objectives). Ideal player count is probably 2 and upwards, stuff we can play while stuck inside during the pandemic but later on use at gatherings.

He's pretty open-minded though and enjoys novel concepts - we've also played a good few rounds of Fog of Love and found it really funny.

I'm considering Forbidden Sky or Ticket to Ride (we've never played it!), or something by Ravensburger based on an existing property like The Princess Bride.

We actually don't have a copy of Scrabble at home so I might pick this up anyway, lol. We've been playing Bananagrams for our word game fix.

How about Marvel United? Pretty lightweight but fun coop and the new xmen core has even tougher villains

Good morning Fami-nam! Hey, this is not a test! This is rock and roll!

I have successfully rabbit proofed my cables in my basement, scratched and nicked my hand with a saw and some hard plastic that was hell to cut with a boxknife, watched Little Nicky and more JoJo with some friends, started RuPaul UK Season 3, got back into Ring Fit for the first time in a month, and despite all the excitement managed to unwind with some Cruis'n Blast and Monster Hunter Rise!

Hope y'all had a good weekend, too!

RE: Indie World, my girlfriend really hopes that Bear and Breakfast gets an early 2022 release date, and I hope Asteroid Base has a new game ever since they finished up Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime six years ago. Hell, their last blog post was September 2020 so I hope they've been tinkering away at a new project ever since.

indie world starts

Hollow knight appears

Runs around holding something, gets smoked by Hornet. Hornet uses her needle/thread to retrieve the something, it’s an envelope. Turns around: smash logo. Hard cut to Sakurai saying “lmao you thought I was done?”

After watching the Forspoken gameplay, Sony can keep that exclusive. I have a PS5 and I have 0 interest in what they just showed.

That game looks extremely uninteresting for me. It seems devoid of any of the whimsy I would expect from a SE game, it looks very generic. Even the protagonist, being a black woman should check all the right boxes but she just looks... I don't know, pedestrian?

The little we saw of FFXVI doesn't seem much better either. I'm glad we still have Dragon Quest.

This is going to be harsh, but I wish SamusHunter and all these Twitter frauds can just fuck off. Like, it's very clear they are now scouting these forums, taking info from actual industry folk and parading it as their own. All while Emily, Nate, and others continue to get insulted and harassed.

Sakurai upon announcing fighter pass 3

“Look, I know I said I was done. But everybody has a price and Nintendo paid it. Anyway here’s how Hornet plays in Smash.”

Honestly I like what we've seen of the combat and movement but man is that a dull visual style

Is that another "insider"? I never get what these people actually get out of leaking info that is most of the time wrong. Is it to appear 'interesting' and part of some 'in-crowd' or something?
