Why does DK have to catch strays like this
For real. The DKC art style is so good. People might say it's dated but I'd kill to see more games that look like it. There's a few games I've found over the years that give off the same vibes graphically. Hylics 1 and 2 feature a mixture of claymation, stop motion, and pre-rendered sprites and it's just wild. Back to DK tho. Games on the SNES that use sprites of pre-rendered 3d models are all so cool looking to me. Kirby Super Star has backgrounds also featuring that type of thing and it just looks so awesome. Ultra is clearly the better game with more content, but it ain't a looker like the original. I really think the art style and music of DKC is so much better than Yoshi. It's old, it's a product of its time, and it's just so cool they managed to make a game look like DKC on the SNES.

Game developers in awe of how much better Yoshi's Island has always looked and aged much, much better than Donkey Kong Country.
Famiboards just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Nintendofandom culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in The Old Place where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Nintendofandom, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the Nintendo public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to browse Treehouse, nor will they peruse the Roost. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but @Aurc has alienated an entire forum with this move.
Famiboards, publicly apologize and cancel @Aurc for admin status or you can kiss your business goodbye.

You dare disregard the divinity and order of The Process in suggesting we see Metroid 5 and 6 before Prime 4's release?

The process cannot be speeded up, but nor can it be stopped. It moves at the speed of a procession. Constant. Inevitable. Arriving at its destination not with a shrug, but with a sense of a task completed.

We are safe then because @Aurc no longer has his moderator privileges. Prescient on our part it looks like as to not bring shame to the forum.

I had two requests this morning from members who wanted their own Magia Record Magical Girl avatars following the bloodbath in the Legendary Speculator Challenge so I'll just hand them out quick.

This is Masara Kagami. She's a side character who does appear in the main story toward the end. She kind of can phase in and out of existence to strike enemies from all angles which is pretty cool!

This is Sayuki Fumino. Her passion is Japanese swords and she works as a local idol with a katana theme. She's a bit shy and isn't a big fan of modern technology, but she enjoys singing and making her fans happy!

Hope you both enjoy them :)

Brazil on Era expects a regular showcase, Nate said he's gonna drop his predictions video directly after the announcement.

I'm not worried at all!

Aw, I missed the FE Engage discussion. I thought there was a lot of good analysis of its merits in the OT earlier this year.

Personally I loved the gameplay, the new dragon abilities allowed a lot of tinkering with the team to make powerful units outside of the player Avatar and I always like that. It also has my favourite battle scenarios in FE since Radiant Dawn.

However, I thought the story was barely there and a simplistic march around a ring-shaped continent had all the depth of FE Heroes scenarios. And the focus on multiverse, returning heroes plus a player avatar meant the actual faction leaders, the ‘secondary characters’, now get pushed to being tertiary ones behind two levels of fanservice, being Marth, Lyn and co on one hand and then the avatar literally being a god/goddess. The faction leaders are literally the glue binding the disparate elements of the force together and they get less screentime than the exposition ghosts because it puts that fanservice over development of new characters. The cut scenes were also very static, with only half a dozen characters standing a line and watching predictable events play out and lamenting while the bad guys do their stuff, apparently unable to act to stop anything. Anything interesting just gets passed over for cliche at the first opportunity.

In that sense, I think the battle engine was fantastic, it’s one I’ll play again to dig into just how much you can tinker with each unit through the rings. But the presentation was dire, and it wasn’t just the multiple levels of fanservice pushing new actual characters into the background. The story and presentation of it is completely forgettable and it doesn’t even care about its own new characters outside of the avatar, which is why there’s been so little discussion of Engage since. There’s just little to discuss outside of the meta discussion of the reason for the framing of the game itself.

My mindset going into the direct is “ok this is a late gen direct. Expectations are low. Hopefully we see some nice cool stuff.” This is a not so hype direct knowing Switch 2 is around the corner (outside of the Prime games and possibly Peach game).

Tim Rogers considers Super Mario Bros. 3 to be a life-long obsession. Well, it kinda remains that way for me too. lol

I still have recollections of going to stores, trying to find a copy.

I'm looking forward to both the Direct and State of Play, but I really wish they wouldn't happen on the same day - it gets a bit overwhelming.

Thankfully, I think the Direct will be in the afternoon while SoP should be late at night (EU), so at least there'll be some buffer time.

If I get one out of-
Fire Emblem remake
Dragon Quest III 2DHD
Wind Waker HD

I’ll be happy. Hell, I’ll be happy regardless. It’s rare to have a direct where there isn’t something I’m interested in, and there’s several games I’m interested in this winter already.

I wonder what they’ll put as their big ‘jan/feb’ game? They often have something to kick the year off, it was Engage this year.

I keep thinking it'll be Fire Emblem 4, but MisterSpo had a good post about how they might want Engage to have a proper holiday to itself which I do find compelling.

I think I know what one of the jokes in the Direct will be. Mario Wonder will be at the end of headlines and then Koizumi will appear and say something like: I was wondering for you like Mario Wonder. He did this joke twice with Splatoon and: What did you thINK?

It is 4:30 am.

Just took my pre workout.

It is leg day.

I have scheduled tomorrow as a WFH day.

Direct announcement coming in 5.5 hours.

Vibes are IMPECCABLE.
