That person definitely had access to footage I think
To be fair all of that is literally present on the game’s box art, so it could just be that Pyoro has access to box art and/or other promotional material for upcoming games.
Pyoro successfully leaked Mario Wonder, Mario RPG, and Pikmin 1+2. Those games all had separate trailers uploaded to Nintendo's channel. Peach's game and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD did not.

If he's a YouTube employee, I'm betting he got this info from only the thumbnails and not the contents of the Direct stream itself.

My theory for a while has been whatever sylux does with the metroid(s) leads to the GF getting rid of them on SR-388 in 2
Yeah, I've often thought this as well. The Prime games contextualize the GF and Samus as having already dealt with a handful of major galactic crises involving Metroids at the center, making it so that the events of Metroid 2 constitute a last resort, as opposed to a snap decision after the Pirates weaponized them in smaller scale conflicts.
Samus faces a reckoning for the countless innocent species she has wiped out

I'm pretty sure he/she/they either works for Nintendo's marketing department, or is in a relationship with someone who works in Nintendo's marketing department, and is doing this with permission.

The Peach and Luigi games also don’t have any box art or other promotional materials, though… And also Pyoro clearly doesn’t get their info from YouTube based on some previous info they’ve leaked and also based on a recent tweet they made (which I think a lot of people either haven’t seen or have misunderstood) making fun of the idea that everyone seems to think they get their info from YouTube.

he/she/they
You can just say “they” in cases like this. Though at least you included they alongside he/she, which most people wouldn’t even do, but you don’t even need the he/she because that’s what singular they is there for! (Not attacking you here or anything, it’s just a pet peeve of mine, sorry, lol, and I just like to see people use singular they as it should be used in cases like this instead of unnecessarily using “he/she”—it helps normalize the use of singular they, which also helps people who use they/them pronouns or pronouns beyond he/she in general.)

For those of you who need some reassurance on the announcement day.

That's great, but I'm just confused why Nintendo would suddenly announce a general direct 2 days ahead of airing, which hasn't happened in years except for game-specific Directs. I trust Nate completely but I'm chalking it up to a timezone thing and still expecting the actual presentation to be on Wednesday.

I'm a pattern follower to the very end 😅

I'm a team September 13 guy... unless of course I am proven wrong and it ISN'T September 13th for the Direct, THEN I'm just a guy that was wrong on the Internet. Fortunately, there's a lot of people who are wrong on the Internet, so I've got company.

Well that game is good
yeah, you're right. It was pretty bland but it was a solid game, and cool at the time. SMBU was the fourth installment in a tired series, and is near indistinguishable from the last 3 aside from the occasional Nabbit or Baby Yoshi appearance. Not to mention the switch port that they managed to turn into a downgrade, somehow.

I will hear no slander for a 20ish million seller.

(combining Wii-U and Switch release of course)

It could be announced tomorrow and direct be September 13 afternoon in America. So it’d be like 30ish hours notice which they’ve done before. Either way I just want the announcement sooner lol

We assuming that Peach game is the closer?

Also that good-feel ninja game I’m gonna need to be localized.
No one is assuming Peach game is the closer. It could be the opener or somewhere in the middle.

Was it not Pyoro that hinted the 13th for a Direct a while ago?
He liked a post back in august asking him if he likes the 13th. So we know it’s more than just YouTube he gets info from.

I don't know if there have been any rumors for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War in the next Direct, but one of these years the fans predicting it are going to be right. However, during the last two years of fan predicting the remake, the original game has been available on the Super Famicom NSO app. You could play it at this very moment! (If you subscribe to NSO.) Yes, you would have to get a translator app on your phone and hold it up to the screen to read the text, or follow along with the script on Serenes Forest, but it's worth it. I sincerely suggest to people that if you have the time (we're all lacking in time, I know) and even a slight interest, that you play the first map or two. Genealogy is not just a 10/10 game, and not just a masterpiece, but it is a game that deserves a spot in the canon of video games as a shining example of the peak of our beloved form of entertainment. Which sounds ridiculous to say, I know, especially from the #TeamJanuary guy, but it really is that good.

I also think just having a little bit of an experience with the original game is going to make the eventual trailer that much better. You'll understand the mechanics they're showing off and be able to spot landmarks and stand up and clap when they show some of the characters because you know who that is and they got that clutch kill for you during that one hour you played the game. 👏👏👏

Completely understandable why people don't want to put up with that hassle, and why they don't have the time to do that when there are plenty of other great games out there to play. I'm just trying to sway the person on the margin who has been thinking of giving the game a try. It is worth it and it is wonderful.

Thinking about Prime 4 while playing Bloodborne (which is giving me similar feelings of first playing Prime btw, probably gonna end up a top 5 game of all time)

I feel like the Prime 4 debate is constantly “like the old ones or bigger/open world” but I think BB (and the souls games I guess but I haven’t played them) provides a pretty cool evolution in that it’s interconnected and claustrophobic like Metroid, but it’s not segmented by loading screens.

I mean moreso in the first half of the game, the second half has a bit more segmented areas. But Central Yharnam, Old Yharnam, Cathedral Ward, Hemwick Charnel Lane, Forbidden Woods, Byrgenwerth, Upper Cathedral Ward, and even Yahar’gul can all be traversed without loading screens if you have the right shortcuts opened up.

Now, obviously Metroid’s world design is more complex in terms of ability gating, but I wonder if that’s something Retro would attempt.

Hmm, so if he really does get his info from packaging/press releases then that would imply the F-Zero thing is going to be a retail product, right?

It wouldn't be from packaging material exclusively given he has leaked digital only content before (Quake II Remastered, including the pricing; and the contents from Sonic Superstars' digital deluxe edition).

New Super Mario Bros. U is a game that gets an unfair rep due to the timing of its release and its mostly bland art style.

In terms of level design, though, it's up there with the best Mario sidescrollers.
