Hey everyone it’s time now to kick off our second thread event! It’s the Last Call - Summon The Direct Event! We’ve had a wild journey to reach this point and our journey together actually won’t be ending here as originally planned, but even so it’s time to hype up the final hours leading up to a Nintendo Direct announcement! For the next three nights if needed, I’ll be posting songs every hour united under set themes to count down to the Tweeting Hour. Eight songs will be posted starting from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. 6:00 AM is typically the first tweet of the day with a Direct announcement usually landing either then or at 7:00 AM so that, and the very real possibility / inevitability that Fami crashes under our collective hype, are why songs will conclude then.

This is an event for the whole thread to enjoy together! First and foremost let’s keep our energy high as we count down the hours by keeping the fun discussions and posts going strong! I also readily encourage you to share your own favorite songs in each theme with the thread. Please be kind to mobile users and only share one youtube video per post. Multiple posts are 100% encouraged! While this thread will not shutdown upon Direct announcement due to us needing to remain separate from the non-spoiler crowd I still would like to continue the tradition of setting a page count goal to aim for before the Direct is announced. In the spirit of treating each night like it could be the one and to keep the excitement high, I’ll set a fresh page count goal every night :)

I don't want an HD-2D remake or anything, I really just want them to drop a straight port and be done, but I'd also love to see Chrono Break be made, even if it's outsourced to another studio that could do it justice (Sabotage is fresh in my mind now because of Sea of Stars but there are so many key people from CT at MonolithSoft now that they'd sorta be my dream studio to do CB). And if it comes out crap then hey, at least they didn't mess up the original! 😅

I don’t want a Chrono game without the conditions that led to it in 1995. The fact that Cross was as bloated as it was only four years later shows me Square misunderstood why the game was so memorable. I’d even argue the DS port’s extra dungeon makes that clear.

I have both soundtracks on my phone and I occasionally listen to them while driving too haha.

I hadn’t set the page count goal yet, I think a cool 240 would be fun to aim for :)

If Golden Sun is to return they need to do much better in the character/writing department first and foremost. They can’t have everyone be a wet paperbag like in the previous entries again.

I was actually just listening to a song that sorta has "it's now or never" vibes, so I think quite appropriate for the countdown!! And it's from an RPG!



Non-Xeno fans, I invite yall to rock out to this as well!!

(also Mitsuda had a hand in this, so it's sorta on-brand for what @Regulus Tera and I were talking about, too)

I’ll guess four. We had five in the infamous Farm Direct. Too bad the initial teaser for the new Rune Factory didn’t feature jousting on dragons at the time. Perhaps people would have been kinder haha.

This song is so good! I wish it played more often in the game! I may have another Xenoblade 3 song at the end of the countdown tonight :)

Yes, it's mostly ports/ remasters. Of course i'm happy with new games too. But that's what i excpect from the rest if the switch- era.

noooo, I mean Square and Enix. The two companies are no longer rivals, so the "Square and Enix coming together for CT" is sorta done already. So Horii and his people are in the fold. And as far as Mistwalker goes, I doubt they'd need to be involved in order for Sakaguchi to come hang (especially since the marketing around the Pixel Remasters show he still plays nice with Square).

I'd still rather Monolith work on it though, since again, a lot of key people from CT are actually there now 👀

yesssssss the OSTs of Replicant and Automata both were huge surprises for me and are among my favorites!

Ah, gotcha. Honestly, if SE and Monolith were going to collaborate on a remake, I'd expect them to do Xenogears, first, since that's Takahashi's baby. Though, I would not be opposed to Chrono Trigger. I have two digital copies of that game and I have yet to dive into either of them.....
 
Weight of the World is probably the most-beautiful song I've ever heard in a video game.

I'm sure they they'd credit him as Sakaguchi from Mistwalker like they did in the interview. Mistwalker is pretty much just a Sakaguchi label anyway, there aren't many other employees. It's like Sakurai and Sora really.

I loved BoF IV ^^, I hope you'll get to the end (and try both endings ; just a choice to make before the final fight).
