It's not gonna happen, the game was announced for switch: It will release on Switch. Whether it's cross-gen or gets a patch/new version later for new hardware is another story.

Also if Prime 4 is Nintendo's most costly game ever then something is deeply wrong, it should never be the case even if it got rebooted at some point.

The game has been in development about 7 years at this point between the first and second versions, Retro is doing a ton of outsourcing in addition to doubling their internal team size in the last 5 years, and development costs are higher than ever now. What Nintendo game do you think has been more expensive?

"Those were literally the two games that were leaked ahead of it."

They were not literally the two games, there were literally 5 games leaked ahead of time.
You got it. I'm not arguing over semantics. Dark Cloud specifically name-dropped two games that were specifically leaked by Pyoro (the two that GameXplain and GVG have reiterated Pyoro leaking all weekend, in their coverage of the new leaks), but go ahead.

It really depends on the size of the team. TOTK had to be rather expensive and took many years as well.

Can you explain all the Disney rides that haven't gotten IP updates in years?
I will argue that pretty much ALL of those Disney rides either:
A.) Got updated with more relevant IPs.
B.) Have gotten new material like with the live-action movies, TV shows, merch, etc.

Even with something like the Harry Potter land at Universal, the series has still gotten merchandise, some spin-off movies, a Broadway show, and an upcoming TV series.

How does this relate back to DK at Universal? Nintendo will need to start making merchandise with characters besides from Donkey and Diddy. However, the important thing is that they need to do stuff like with movies and games. Isn't the whole point of Nintendo becoming an entertainment company is that their other businesses help them sell the games? If there is a Donkey Kong land and movie that's coming in our way and yet, no new game comes out soonish, then it would be a bad business move on their part.

Donkey Kong was just in a movie as one of the main characters and will probably be in the movie's sequel as well.

I'm sure there will be some DK game released in the next ten years, but this seems like a huge stretch for a game coming soon. If there was a game coming before 2025, it probably would have been announced alongside Princess Peach.

Not a new game, and obviously not the 3DS/Wii title Pyoro referenced, but wasn't there leaks, rumors, or speculation about Donkey Kong Country Returns coming to Switch, several months back?

BOTW and TOTK at the very least?
If Prime 4's budget is somehow higher then yes, something went deeply wrong at some level. In spite of the reboot.

1. Wave Race 64
The definition of all killer, no filler. It's difficult to stay optimistic in such difficult and tumultuous times we live in but when you play Wave Race 64 your hope in your fellow humans is restored. Gliding over the water in this game is the closest we will ever be to our creator. Don't take it from me though, as Albert Einstein once said: "I don't know if there is such a thing as a perfect game but Wave Race 64 comes closest"

2. Wave Race (GB)
A fun novelty.

3. Wave Race Blue Storm
An insult to life itself and testament to the hubris of man. As the American visual artist Man Ray said, "to create is divine, to reproduce is human". What he didn't account for is that some men, in reproducing, cast off their humanity. This is what the developers of Wave Race: Blue Storm did. It is a perversion of the original, a game so devoid of beauty, it is enough to plunge you into existential despair. It makes a compelling argument to never let Americans develop video games.
What's wrong with Blue Storm? Other than it being "Blue" but being on a purple console. Actually asking. Wave Race always looked cool to me.

even funnier scenario

old mrbones's ban gets dropped to three months, he comes back in december to find he's been completely replaced by a much cooler, funnier, and better looking mr.bones

the time it took for you to type that out you could have just told him Mr bones was being a sexist weirdo
Give someone a fish VS teach someone to fish, and all that

how did I miss this poetry

you can just read my post man

It's honestly not bad, definitely more technically advanced and deeper (lol) than 64. But I also think it feels quite unintuitive to control, making it too difficult for difficulty's sake. Aesthetically speaking it was also a complete miss.

That tweet had heavy overtones of sarcasm. He/she/they were basically saying that, since this Direct will be livestreamed, the idea of him/her/them viewing pre-uploaded videos is ridiculous.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a similar situation to Emily, where there is a clear direct relationship to a Nintendo marketing employee, and permission to tease/leak information to assist with marketing via social media/internet.
Except the Directs aren't livestreams, they are premiers. The former is a live feed while the latter is a preuploaded video set to play at a specific time.

For reference, part of why Konami fucked up their Silent Hill anouncement event was that they uploaded the video, but set a date for the video to go public when they were instead supposed to set a date for the video to premier.

I'm not opposed to a Nintendo Plinky Plonky Toy Piano Small Games Direct if some or one of the following happens:

  • F ZERO 99 is allowed to be F ZERO 99. It's a great concept and I don't need a GX remaster to come with it (though I'd accept one). 100% would love a new F ZERO for 2024 teased and then it turns out to be cross-gen and also Miyamoto records the YOU GOT BOOST POWER voice clip. My demands are specific but reasonable.
  • Metroid Prime 2 re-release is Remastered and not Hagi-port.
  • Mario vs DK is either DK vs Mario or DK 94 2. Preferably EPD 8 produce and NST develop.
  • Metroid Prime 4 is this fiscal year.
  • surprise 2D Zelda 2024 as the real Last Big Game.
