if the Mario Vs DK game is more akin to 94 and GBA, and not, say, March of the Mini's, then that's excellent.

Can't imagine those MOTM-style games sold very well so I sorta doubt it'd go that way. also Switch's touch screen is not people's first way to play. So it'll at least be platformer-lite.

Something like 94 and GBA is the best case scenario, really; even more so if they find new things to do (MAKE DK PLAYABLE). It'd be interesting to see them experiment more with 3D, though I'd love a hand drawn visual style like the GBA box art.

My dream scenario would be EPD 8 producing a new DK94/Mario vs DK but with the bulk of work being done at NST, like Bowser's Fury. I miss the Tokyo team getting smaller projects out.

Hell, I'd be happy for a similar arrangement with the Peach game - EPD 8 producing, Intelligent Systems or someone else developing.

XC3 has the best gameplay in the series. Unfortunately, though, I thought the world was...surprisingly bland. And some of the characters were just...there. And a lot of the music was...boring. (Though there are quite a few banger battle themes!) And I really didn't like the ending. Whereas XC2 has one of the most amazing worlds ever, plus a masterpiece OST, plus an ending that left me sobbing in the best way. Yes there are a few dumb scenes and the gacha crap is annoying. But the highs of 2 are SO much higher than 3.

Honestly barring prime 4 I can see this being a smaller direct showing some stuff weve already seen (Mario wonder, mario rpg, princess peach, luigis mansion) f zero 99 and mario dk I can see just being small titles just to test the waters again on those series. Kinda the average for a September direct.

Tipping Stars, which was the last MvDK, got a physical release in Japan, but digital only in NA and EU. I'm guessing this new one will be a budget physical title, so $30 or $40.

I feel like this time is different. Even if we assume we have other announcements that pyoro has yet to leak, this direct still would just be info on already released titles, DLC, and some smaller new games (Metroid prime 4 being the potential exception)

It's possible. Nintendo have done a few budget titles on Switch, though not all that many digital only releases. In fact, I'm a little surprised we haven't seen more small scale download only titles from them over the course of Switch's life.

This one is odd, because it could land anywhere on a spectrum from "launches next week as a small scale digital only game" to "launches in December or January as a slightly lower priced physical/digital release". It'd be nice to see them return to that DK94/Mario vs DK GBA style and make a bigger deal of it, given that's the follow up to Nintendo's original arcade hit. But I have to try not to get my hopes up!

Hehehehehe... that song is weird, man. My obsession with Burger King goes ALLLLLLLLLLLL the way back to when they had Pokemon toys when Mewtwo Strikes Back was coming out and they came in Pokeballs... and then they didn't after one kid suffocated himself with the ball. But Grandma would constantly bring back Burger King to help us get all the toys. It got awkward when we would otherwise have food at home and we'd be eating it but then Grandma would pull in with a car load of Burger King and bring it to the table. Then I was playing Final Fantasy VII and Grandma ONCE AGAIN brought Burger King unannounced. Mom then said "You don't have to eat it." and RIGHT THEN I was looking at Tifa's face in the menu screen... and now I can't think of Tifa without also thinking of Burger King, the two things merged together into one memory, specifically this face.
