I give it a day before this devolves into a full-blown The Thing situation. Everybody's assumed to be Pyoro, so we just gotta set the whole thread on fire to be sure.

yeah, im giving this direct a solid 7/10. it wasn't the best but it was solid i guess.

the FE4 remake opening the direct was the highlight for me-- the artstyle looks sick.

This was supposed to be the most important Nintendo Direct of the generation. More important than State of Play. More important than E3. This was the Direct that had to feature an actual new Donkey Kong game by MonkEPD. It would be ridiculous to get into why, and frankly beneath me, so if this doesn't make sense to you then this game and this thread are not for you. For those of us that get it, all we can do is try to pick up the pieces and figure out where to go from here. The future is absolutely bleak. Mustering the will to continue from here is going to take a lot. We are going to have to band together as a community, check in on each other, support each other, make sure we are all here tomorrow. Because honestly nobody could imagine it being this bad and that means nobody is prepared for what tomorrow looks like.

I'm going to take a shower. On the way I'll stop in the kitchen and grab some gruyere and crackers, some kalamata olives and maybe slice up some apple. I'll have it with some crackers and bread, and some butter, and I will try to center myself and feel whole and correct again. After my shower I will clean the counters, mop the floors, wipe the windows, try to turn things over and feel comfortable in my own home. I'm not going to check my texts or read my emails. I will call out of work for all of next week. I will listen to some Schubert. I know that this is what I need. Calm ritual, quiet meditation, and maybe when it's over I'll feel normal again.

I still can't believe this happened. This is not the worst day of my life but it's up there. I can safely say I've put terrible things behind me. I hope I can do it again. Sorry to everyone who gets it.

If this really is a weak direct outside of the current leaks, I do have to wonder what Nintendo was thinking with the Mario blowout in June. Peach and Luigi’s Mansion didn’t have to be announced in June and Warioware could have easily been a “it’s out in 2 months get excited” sorta thing.

I’m holding out hope that the direct will be just fine despite what has leaked, as long as the leaker doesn’t spoil literally every aspect of it.

I saw Doug Bowser at a grocery store in Boston yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for when the direct was or anything. He said, "Oh, like you're doing now?" I was taken aback, and all I could say was "Huh?" but he kept cutting me off and going "huh? huh? huh?" and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen pre-made ham sandwiches in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "Sir, you need to pay for those first." At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the sandwiches and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually "to prevent any bugs in the system." and then turned around and winked at me. I don't even think that's how it works. After she scanned each sandwich and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Honestly everyone should pop off at Another Code/R getting remakes. We spend so much time talking about the importance of game preservation on this site, here are two games that 24 hours ago people would have mortgaged their future betting would never come back and be given another chance. Yet here we are, two games that should have been lost to time forever (1 of which never got an official US release) will be once again available and preserved. If all you can muster is "meh not for me" you are part of the problem.

The leaker has only spoiled four things so far, with two of them being e-shop releases (Mario vs DK might get a physical release, but probably not), one of them being a third party game, and the last being a full reveal trailer for an already known game. We don't actually know any big reveals yet. I wonder if Pyoro is saving them for closer to the Direct to gain more coverage, or if they don't have access to them yet like with Peach Game and Luigi's Mansion from the last Direct.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance. What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Mario and Donkey Kong for Nintendo Switch nor will they purchase any ofNintendo's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated an entire market with this move. Nintendo, publicly apologize and cancel Mario & DK for Switch or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I don't care for Mother/Earthbound at all, but I would pop off like crazy and be excited for fans if/when Mother 3 gets an official localization. It's about appreciating gaming both historically and as an art form.
