A remaster/remake of an older Smash game seems like one of the least-likely announcements imo based on Nintendo’s history. A port as part of GameCube NSO is possible eventually but seems unlikely in this Direct.

People are sleeping on the idea of a smash melee remake/ remaster. It would be easier to make then a new game, and would require little to no contracting to third party devs. It would explain the smash amiibo thing without conflicting with ultimates ending. Melee is easily the most incomplete smash game, and a remake/ remaster could fix some of the bugs and add some characters planned before release like Sonic, wario, dedede, James Bond. And finally, it could be a really good chance to change characters movesets. Think about it, the game having a roster of 22 characters makes it easier to change them up then if there was a roster of 90 characters with more being added via DLC, even if they added some extra characters.

I doubt they’re adding James Bond if they do a port.

People bought pikmin 1 and 2 remaster despite not only pikmin 3 existing and having far more content (at least compared to 1, maybe 2) but also pikmin 4 coming out a month later

The PS5 and Xbox Series X are very bad at ray-tracing (and the Switch 2 will be as well).

But the developers' vision... Is generally done via ray-tracing and then they create bake lighting that best mimics their ray-traced vision on paper.

The idea is to actually get the developer's vision (which looks better) instead of an estimation.

Encanto is not realistic looking. At all. It's extremely colorful and stylized, basically what a Mario world might look like.

Ray tracing is just a different way to approximate light propagation in games and the results tend to be much, much better specifically for matching a designer's vision than other types of lighting.

Point being, they'd nitpick the heck out of it and ultimately stick to unofficial emulation or hauling CRTs around.

Casuals wouldn't fuck with it because they'd see the stage and character select screens are both like 1/4 the size of Ultimate and would just buy/stick to Ultimate.
