Hey all. It is time for the first weekly poll!
This is my very first time creating a forum poll and I picked strawpoll because it showed up first as I looked for alternatives. Hope it works - apologies if it doesn't.

So, let's ask ourselves, pre-Tears of the Kingdom: Which Zelda game is the best direct sequel? The game that is an outstanding game on its own, while also doing an excellent job in building upon what came before it - either by taking the best of its predecessor and making it better, or by using the foundations to build a truly unique experience.

Is it Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, which was a sequel to the very first game, albeit something that dared to experiment, and came out as its very own thing, while still retaining the adventurous feel of the original Legend of Zelda? Is it Link's Awakening, who sees our hero from A Link to the Past stranded on a foreign island, a game that takes its predecessor's framework and condenses it into a charming micro-experience, perfect for the Game Boy? Is it Majora's Mask, a direct parallel world to Ocarina of Time - even reusing its assets - but one that otherwise couldn't be more different in tone and mood? Is it Phantom Hourglass, the sequel to The Wind Waker that once again uses the wide ocean as a setting, where new perils and challenges awaits the Hero of Winds? Or is it A Link Between Worlds, another sequel to A Link to the Past, this time using its overworld as a foundation to build new, exciting challenges and stories? Let's vote!
Replied in the poll β€” but the power of Majora’s Mask cannot be understated

β€œbest” is hard to quantify, but it’s an incredible follow-up that experiments with so many facets of the game and tells an incredible story through them

I have been way too liberal with my usage of the +Yahaha! presses. I just love the sound effect so much

I've also surpassed 4,000 posts during my time here. I still can't quite reach that 2.00 yeah!:post ratio, but I'm closer than ever at 1.95!

LOL remember when we were expecting a Zelda Direct and Treehouse segments and all sorts of stuff and we just got a video of Aonuma playing a bit?

Who woulda guessed all the Treehouse stuff would be crammed into the release week? πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Oh sure start the stream just as I start winding down for bed

lmfao oh ninty

Im pretty sure the terms do say you need an active account, but would have thought a pre order would have been ok if used when you had an active account. They go the money so why not let people use it? Hopefully customer service can rectify this one

as someone that recently preordered TotK with a voucher i'm like 90% sure it does pretty explicitly say when you preorder it that you need to maintain an active membership until you would be charged for it

I recall it being pretty in your face with that information actually

and honestly it kind of makes sense because you can preorder games months in advance sometimes, someone could theoretically have their membership expire like 6 months before a game comes out or something and it doesn't really make a lot of sense to be able to use one of those vouchers that require membership for it at that point

Let me tell you, I was clenched up so hard. 😬

I'll be sure to keep you updated on any other impressive feats you accomplish, haha (for one, you were my scholar in the Hein fight, so you did massive damage there).
Hell yeah, I will try to channel my power to my character as a thanks for giving me the job with the coolest hat 😎

Guardians 3 spoilers sorry I know I shouldn't post this but my God I need to say this somewhere.

oh God I cried when Rocket saw Lyla, Teef, and Floor in the afterlife. Especially when she says he can't come with them yet because he still has more to do and she kissed him. I also cried when Rocket was rescuing the other animals. Also High Evolutionary's team should have just shot him instead of trying for a mutiny like that but oh well.

I'm trying to figure out whe I can see it again because of ToTK next week. Tomorrow would be too soon right?

In the vein of the older Might and Magic games I painstakingly added a spell that tells you whether any particular interaction option is bad, good, or a little bit of both.

Like, reading a book called "Man on the Inside" spawns a humanoid enemy, so when you're prompted to read it if you have this spell enabled then you'll see a little red skull next to the open option. If you're searching a shipwreck that has a bunch of good items it'll show a green check mark next to the search option. And if you touch a volatile chemical that winds up disintegrating you but also giving you +20 vitality permanently you'll see a yellow "shrug" icon telling you there's some good and some bad.

This involved going back over the several hundred interaction prompts in the game and adding the appropriate icon for each option but I think it'll be worth it.

TOTK is a such a big game that it's mass is bending the spacetime continuum and making every day before it comes out feel like a week

Oh my god the TotK icon is on my Swtich! Blessed day.

Who woulda guessed all the Treehouse stuff would be crammed into the release week?
And why would I even watch it, TotK is literally a day away at that point, I can wait

Yeah, that actually is in the Terms and Agreements. Your membership needs to be active for your preorders to be valid. That's why you always need to read the fine print.

Sony cutting off their less profitable devs to bank it all on their ten upcoming GaaS games. BLEH.

Time is so damn slow

Sony's statement to IGN:

"PlayStation Studios regularly evaluates its portfolio and the status of studio projects to ensure they meet the organization’s short and long-term strategic objectives. As part of a recent review process, it has been decided that PixelOpus will close on June 2."

I guess the game they were developing with Sony Pictures Animation has also been cancelled. Guess there's no space in Sony's portfolio for smaller games that aren't Astro Bot branded.

This second voucher has made me sad to have fallen off the splatoon train, because I’d otherwise use it for finally getting 3…

Played the hell out of 1, played a good bit of 2, never got to the DLC (grabbed it on sale much later right before it went on NSO)… and skipped 3.

I know I’ll get to the DLC and 3 someday, but I’m sad to have missed the β€œlive” boat so to speak. Other service games have had my attention.

So they are showing gameplay for Zelda just over two hours before the game launches in the eshop?!

That’s an interesting approach for sure.

It definitely does because I had to double check when my membership expires for this very reason.

That said, it’s an unintuitive system and I imagine many people will fall into this exact situation.

Aside from the reveal, it feels like Nintendo really did just wait until the last possible minute for everything with this marketing πŸ˜…

I admire the commitment to not showing people the game almost until they can play it themselves. It's been like performance art over the years.

Watching the Xenoblade 3: Future Connected credits roll

That crap hit so hard. I swear Xenoblade always releases new stuff when I need it in my life the most. Been a rough past few months for me. And these last two weeks have been especially difficult. UGH.

I'm beyond annoyed that the Disunited Kingdom of Clown Island is doing the coronation this weekend. If they'd done it next weekend, and had the bank holiday Monday the weekend the real new king releases, I'd have been able to manage my annual leave so I had two successive 3 days weekends for Tears of the Kingdom.

Ridiculous system of hereditary privilege refusing to take into account my videogame playing habits fml

3 bank Holidays in May and only 1 of them is after TOTK, there is no god.

Hello Fami fami, I just wanted to show you what I just got in the mail!
The Platinum Points system is pretty great!

Sorry for the bad lighting LOL

So I just learned that in one of the Marvel Star Wars comic books from the 70s and 80s Lando needed to assume a fake identity for plot reasons and the man straight up did a legally distinct Captain Harlock cosplay.

This is entirely apropos of nothing, but goddammit if it isn't brilliant and I just want everyone to know about it.
