We got some not so subtle stealth brags. Some of us aren't fortunate enough to live near good rollercoasters or skilled enough to last more than 30 seconds in a fighting game match.
Some guys aren't skilled enough to last 30 seconds in anything.

That's right. I'm calling you out for being terrible at Smash Bros.

Don't feel bad. Most guys get excited for something that lasts only three minutes.

I recently completed Donkey Kong Country 2 for the first time ever on NSO (with liberal use of save states and rewind) and found it so fun I’m playing it again without using them.

Think it ready to call it one of the best games ever.

I remember seeing saving cost money and immediately noped out and resorted to using save states, but honestly it’s not that bad and kinda forces you to strategize. I just did a three level run without saving because I didn’t have enough coins in between and it was exhilarating once I was finally able to after the third level

The save system is the biggest blemish against it. SNES era games loved to go "okay, you can save, but we're gonna make you work for it" with some of those leftover game design elements of NES games, the whole "make the player repeat the same sections over and over to get their money's worth" strategy.

Anyway, DKC2 is sublime. The atmosphere and mood constructed by the visuals and music still makes it stand out to this day, and the level design is a big improvement from DKC1 in every way. It's still easily my favorite DKC game.

Yeah I’m sure I’d have a much different opinion right now if I had died on that last level lol.

But you’re right, everything in the game syncs together so well. Music, visuals, sfx.

Jfc how did the SNES have games like this and Super Metroid that outdo even most modern games in atmosphere

It's crazy how we're so excited for something that lasts three minutes

Three minutes is going to give us days of discussion
Can’t wait. It’s a nice boost in the middle of April, since that’s normally fairly dead for news.

And we’re likely to have at least something nearly every week before launch. The last week will have reviews (and the game launch, of course), the week or two before will have previews, and the trailer this week. Star Wars is out in there too I guess, and I am looking forward to Survivor, but I doubt I’ll be able to beat it before Zelda so it’s probably going to have to wait.

I’m only an hour or so into Space for the Unbound and it’s quirky, pretty, and has excellent atmosphere so far; it has a great sense of place to it. I have no real clue what’s going on yet but I can already tell this has some serious potential to hit the feels.

I never get a reason to share my favorite youtube cook with the asmr voice but he just made something relevant to the forum sooooo here we go

There are so many cool secrets in that game. It's one of my all-time favorites.
The music is sublime, too. I made a mashup of a Madeon song with Forest Interlude.

I know this isn't Nintendo related but I have to say it is very frustrating that some people at my job insist on calling me by my birth name instead of my preferred name no matter how many times I correct them or explain why that isn't my name anymore. Like I haven't gone by that name since I was like 9.

Sympathy "yeah!"

I genuinely can't understand why it's so hard for some people to just call people by the name they want to be called.

That mashup is soooo dope holy shit

And yeah I sadly think it’ll be a while before I get to the bonus content, the main game is challenging me enough 😅 but hopefully one day…

it has a great sense of place to it
The Southeast Asia-ness of it is incredibly authentic. Playing it makes me feel like I was transported back to my childhood. The architectural style of the houses, the typical neighborhood personalities, even the concrete tubes in the construction sites… it’s so, sooo good.

Hope everybody is ready for THURSDAY TRAILER DAY YEAH

i feel like shit today woo
Nintendo finally have not forgot about Mario Maker

Internet: Ugh, Switch is OLD, Nintendo should move on, no one will buy new games for it

Nintendo: lol pls buy game from 2019 thank

Well shit no Collectors Edition for me. Really hope Nintendo never does the preregistration for preorders again because it was fucking shambolic.

Somewhat disappointed with Ghostwire Tokyo now that I was able to play it thanks to Game Pass. I loved the idea of what is basically a Jujutsu Kaisen game and the vibes are on point. And I will always be in favour of Japanese devs experimenting with first-person. But I just hit chapter 3 and the execution is pretty meh so far. Little variety in combat, controls feel extremely sluggish, the skill-tree feels rather pointless... I was also not aware until I actually started it that it's an open-world game. I might stick with it for a few more hours but I'm unimpressed so far.

You can now play ARK: Extinction on your Nintendo.

That will teach the naysayers of the Wii U a lesson!

Isn't EverQuest II dead?

Why is it getting updated in 2023? Is it going through a revival or something?

Okay, one last trailer:

This... actually looks nice. It's like a few other games I've seen, but hey, it's Warhammer 40k and this might be a good time to get into the franchise.

Is this coming to Switch too? I'd be interested in such a faster "arcade" shooter, but more as a "slack off" game on evening, and i kinda don't wanna boot up my PS5 for that.

Also, "Ork Shootaz" DLC when?

Ah, do you have the same problem with booting up your PS5? Just don't feel like it when you have a Switch or Steam Deck?

It's a mix of PS5 being an energy hog compared to Switch, the almost non-existant chance of me being able to play on the big main TV in the house at evenings, and my own feeling that i kinda only want to boot up the PS5 for games that ... well ... don't run on Switch and thus i have to play on the PS5 ... like Elden Ring for example.

So yeah, i simply prefer playing smaller stuff like this or grind-heavy games like MonHun on Switch.

Can someone help me please.

I hate this font I have segaboard can I change it? If so how please?

Bottom left side of the page, there is a theme switch button.

I have gold coins expiring by the end of the month. Can I use them for the game vouchers?

My pal’s also leaving me his PS5 while he goes on vacation in Europe, and I feel like it would be a waste not to use it. That said I don’t know if I can finish FF7R, Ghosts of Tsushima or GoW:Ragnarok before Zelda hits. Decisions decisions.

Ragnarok is, like, 30ish hours I think? If you can dedicate 5 hours a day, you can do it in under a week!

Woke up this morning and realized I'm skipping the launch of both Diablo IV and Final Fantasy XVI. This makes sense to 2023 me, but would be an absolute foreign concept to me in 2003.

At least I'll still have TotK, but even if that wasn't an option I'm pretty content with what I'm playing right now and what's in the backlog.

SEEEE

GAAA
Now I want a SaGa theme featuring a nice spread of Tomomei Kobayashi's artwork in the margins

Is that 30 hours on the assumption that you're bee lining the main story and not doing a ton of the side stuff? Just worried that I might not be giving GoW: Ragnarok a fair shake here.

How Long To Beat had it at 26 hours for story only. I think realistically, if you do some but not all of the side content and are not playing on a crazy difficulty, you're probably looking at 35-40 hours

Gotcha. I guess I'll try playing GoW when I get the PS5 and see if I think I can power through it. Hopefully finish it before Zelda hahaha

Speaking only for myself, it's the kind of game I can get through relatively quickly. It's fun and the narrative is engaging, so 30+ hours doesn't feel like quite the slog it could

For additional context, the game released on Nov 9, and I finished it on Nov 18. @Red Monster (who, like, has kids lol) finished it on Nov 29. Now granted we both loved the game a lot so maybe it would take longer if it doesn't grab you as much, but it's definitely doable

Best part of the TotK trailer was Miyamoto popping up at the very end to try and sell us on Pikmin Bloom again.

That's the first time this site has had to ask me if I was a human. Maybe I've been spending too much time on CharacterAI.

I'm saying it here, but anyone who want to stay in the dark as much as possible for TotK....

Stay away from the trailer, the threads and everything.

If you want to stay dark but have worries/doubts about the game, from someone who just saw the trailer 3 times by now ... cast them away.

I still believe that 150€ is an overpay for the Collectors Edition but... suddenly the price seems worthy after that TotK trailer, lol. Not often that I'm happy about spending so much money on a single thing.

For me: CE, Pro Controller, Link Amiibo, Switch Case.

But it's okay, i warned my wife back in February that i'm going to drop a lot of bucks on a single game in May.

Oh, I forgot to mention all of those bar the Switch case. Makes sense to include them to the equation lol.. 230€ on a single day and I'm perfectly fine with it. The Zelda influence.

How do you know if your local Gamestop is doing a midnight release? I can't find on the website.
