Nice to see them release these notes ahead of the update, also nice to see the large list of fixes.

Still missing some things I would love to see, but many of those are probably not considered bugs.

Hopefully the "other fixes" include some performance stuff, especially for the boxes.

Also the outbreak form bug. That one specifically got on my nerves.

God, I really start to hate Centro more every time he posts some stuff and tries to antagonize GameFreak. And of course the "POkemon fans" eat his nonsense.

Guy has clearly no clue how game dev works.

I mean......20% reduction isn't even that bad. A lot of Pokemon spawn, sometimes too may. People just bitch for the sake of bitching. No braincells are used either lmao. Best part is they really just tossed an arbitrary number to bait a reaction.

Is there any value going through all the classes before I beat the game (or ever)?

I'm sure it'd be neat if I had more time in the day but unless there's a reward or something I probably won't bother.

You get experience candy for each test and rewards at the end of each questlime: https://serebii.net/scarletviolet/academyclasses.shtml

The History teacher will also point you to an endgame/postgame quest and give you a few new flight points.

Oh cool. Thanks. Is that the only way to trigger the quest or it’s just a hint?

Not sure what flight points means I’ll have to check that page.
The quest is available from the start, she just gives you a reward for doing it (and also some helpful fast-travel points).

Pikachu for Pokemon Day, should be a much easier one than the others. It's a shame GMax Pikachu is gone.

Serebii says they're bringing back Lucario and Bronzong from Greninja, which is kinda interesting; usually the minor league raids are supposed to be strategy suggestions for the main event, but I guess they didn't want to come up with new ones and figured Pikachu would be easy enough for most people to figure out.

My guess for the set would be something like

Volt Tackle
Surf
Iron Tail
Play Rough/Grass Knot

Lotta options for status moves here, between screens, Nasty Plot, Electric Terrain, Double Team, Rain Dance, etc, hard to predict what it'll go for.

Grass resists both Electric and Water, doesn't have to worry about coverage moves, and is the only type that can hit this super-effectively due to Lightningrod, so most Grass-types should do well against Pikachu. Koraidon will hate Play Rough, but against a set without it can set up SDs and Screeches. Sun support is also nice for various Growth users to set up quickly, such as Lilligant, Gogoat, Arboliva. Brute Bonnet and the Applin evos won't like Play Rough, but they also get Growth, with the former having high Attack on top of Protosynthesis, while the latter two have good signature moves for raids. For those coming off of Greninja, Clodsire remains a decent support pick, and if Pikachu doesn't have a Grass move, Gastrodon will also do well. Iron Hands with Drain Punch can do decently well with some support, but I expect most of them to play themselves on day 1 by clicking Wild Charge

I think Lucario and Bronzong are just a copy-paste that he forgot to scrub. We don't usually find out the accompanying "counter" pair until a bit later.

New Pokémon dropped. Raids are only 5 stars, so these shouldn't be too hard.

Well, it's better than doing time eating things to get good IVs Paradox mons. These will at least have ... 3 or 4, right?

These should come with four perfect IVs. You can turn autosave off if you want to try for certain natures or spreads

So I'm looking into the new Paradox Pokémon they dropped today, and Walking Wake is super interesting. It's a water type that's designed to both work on and counter a sun team. There's Protosynthesis, of course, but its signature move Hydro Steam is a Water move that's strengthened by sun instead of weakened by it. And its native Water/Dragon type highly resists competing fire moves and is neutral to grass moves. So if your opponent sets up sun? Your Walking Wake is boosted. You set up your own sun? Walking Wake is boosted. Opponent counter-sets up rain or you use it in rain? Walking Wake doesn't get the Protosynthesis boost, but its STAB Water moves still get a boost. Heck, as a water type it can do decently against typical Sandstorm enjoyers, and with access to Flamethrower it can handle Ice types that can take advantage of snow - though it is extremely vulnerable to Freeze-Dry.

Welp guess I will still be waiting on another patch--looked at Youtube videos and the frames are still quite terrible. I do wonder if I emailed them stating it can cause death via seizures if they'd hurry it up. Abuse my condition for once!

okay i got one iron leaves spawn in the overworld and now im getting my cheeks clapped. whats the best pokemon for this raid?
You can use King Gambit! I lost many times with other pkmns and finally beat him with King Gambit (boost your attack and spam Kow tow). I beat him twice in a row 😉

It's basically a Palkia with Latios stats. Like, it doesn't get Fire Blast, but Water/Dragon was already a great type for rain, and there's not much that can take a sun-boosted Hydro Steam that doesn't get wrecked by Draco Meteor or Flamethrower

Have yet to try the new raids yet as I’m still farming my Cinderace 7-star ones lol. Will probably do the new ones a day or two before it ends.

But as someone that has played a tons of 7 star raids (I capped Large candies still working my way through XL…) the patch does seem to have improved some things a bit. I’ve been solo farming the Cinderace raid off and on since it launched until I cap what I want to cap(mostly candies and maybe 2-3x what I have in money). And was farming maybe a dozen or so of Cinderace raids before I decided to install the update (wanted to at least hit x999 Large candies just in case it removed the raid) And the difference in Terra battles feels much more fluid.

Can’t place exactly what they improved but it’s a noticeable difference to me at least. As its a lot easier to set up my 1-shot Slowbro before the timer for the shield goes up and wasting time.(NPC Arboliva and their Seed Sower heal ability that takes forever…) I think it’s less delay/lag between move text boxes popping up or something. Among other improvements like the chance I somehow randomly lose when half health and half timer and the Terra Pokemon should have lost. It just feels more fluid.

Also in the overworld (jumping to the next 7-star location) there feels like at least a bit of smoother FPS.

I wonder if people saying the framerate feels smoother are leaving their game on for a while/accounting for the memory leak.

For me I noticed it when scrolling the map and traversing.

Was playing FE Engage, from a fresh open jumped on Violet for a couple hours during the Presents (while seeing the same frame drops/lag I’m used to). Ran a few hours of the Cinderace Terra raids while jumping to wherever the 7-star location was, then reset the raid and repeat, it’s pretty much what I’ve been doing while farming for items.

Installed the update when I felt like I would be okay to lose Cinderace if needed (had also been running into a string of Terra raid bugs I was getting tired of like randomly my Pokemon fainted, the Play Rough visual glitch, or a time I lost when I had a lot of time left and Cinderace should have fainted) and noticed at least a small bit of difference after the update (there’s still some slowdown especially areas with heavy weather/forest but not as bad even if slightly) when doing what I’ve been doing. But raids feel a lot less glitchy/laggy now. Luckily even after updating I still have my Cinderace raid to farm for a week or so more before I update it lol

It just a thing that the raids will stall sometimes while we all just sit there doing nothing and lose time?
That’s still there with the update, seen especially with NPC Arboliva and the Seed Sower ability, between it activating and the heals it puts out it takes a couple seconds. It’s the one I still worry about most when trying to beat the Shield clock (countdown hitting the 'ale' of the raid name title 'Unrivaled") for the Cinderace raid. So far though I've been able to beat the clock in all the raids I've farmed with Arboliva there after the update (before it was maybe half or so)

I'd recommend just solo-ing it tbh, I lost 4 times with randos before I just went and OHKO-ed it with Annihilape (3x Bulk Up and then Rage Fist after being hit with two attacks), did it again with Kingambit right after. It's only 5 stars so it's easier to solo

Got pretty lucky with the Iron Leaves raid, haven't really done raids in the past so I was a bit worried about this one, but got a good group with two Skeledirges and a Grimmsnarl. Though I'd like to think my hastily trained up Roaring Moon contributed a bit

Also doing these raids was actually fairly fun, these games are honestly still a blast. Excited to see what the DLC brings

Anyone elses Tera Raid searches wonky? When I refresh it only gives me 3-4 options.

Anyways got both done, Scisor against Iron Leaves and Magnezone against Walking Wake.

Went for the tank role for Walking Wake and used the Clodsire i trained up for the 7* Greninja raid.

You can be an ancient Suicune-Raptor-Thing, you can use Noble Roar like crazy ... Clodsire can hear you, Clodsire don't care.

It's non-water attacks did little damage, and it's water signature move just healed Clodsire up again. Can recommend.

If anyone is having trouble with Iron Leaves still, I recommend Arboliva

It’s tanky, and when hit sets up grassy terrain, taking away the electric, without using up a move. Then first turn attack with charm to lower attack. Then with a combo of strength sap and pollen puff my tram was able to take it out pretty easily

So uh, for the new paradox forms, they are going to morph with the other ones in dlc right? Like that's the only thing that makes sense.
The drawings in the book weren’t something seen on the expedition, they were made up by the in universe artist as an imagining of what Area Zero creatures could look like.
