DK is real. When it gets announced will depend on the marketing cycle Nintendo gives it. No promise it's at the first Direct of 2023; but, I'd be surprised if 2023 comes and goes without any mention of the game.

You'll be waiting a while, as, at the moment, I have no intent or desire to give a Direct hint or tease when one nears.

With that, this is my final post of the year.

Won't time fly by faster if we stop speculating and focus on other things in lives like enjoying the games we already own? I say we lock this thread and start playing those games! Who's with me?!

DK isn't real. He's a fictional character. There is ape with a coconut gun that fires in spurts. It can't hurt you because it's not real.

Wait, you guys actually play video games? I thought we were just talking about them!

Smh, you all need to get your priorities straight.

Rolling Team January enough to vote in the poll. The line up thus far is fairly empty with only four games in five months (FE, Kirby, BO, and Zelda). January is fine with Engage and May is obviously booked solid with Zelda. February has Octopath which they positioned in the last direct as a pillar for the month even if it isn’t exclusive and Kirby is there too so that month is good. March I don’t think will be carried by just Bayonetta Origins and April is empty aside from the Mario movie. Mario Kart Wave 4 is likely to land in April, but I believe there will be a full game.

There’s at least two games then I feel that need to get announced that should land in March and April and there’s a variety of interesting contenders both rumored and guessable. I think one of the two is a Mario game to hype up alongside the movie and because there has been an absolute dearth of Mario games. I’m most leaning towards a new 2D game which I don’t think needs major explanation. Alternately it’s a spinoff or port/remaster, but that’s harder to guess. June Mario keeps being a thing and I think for sure we’ll get something there if nothing else. I’ll bullet point contenders after this post, but I do think whatever presentation we get should detail us through July ideally. The only pressing need however is getting us to May which means showing off those two games however so I’m not ruling out a shorter presentation.

Bullet points
Pikmin 4 - no show here, that’s the October game.
Pokemon stuff - there will be a Pokemon direct at a later time for Detective Pikachu 2 and SV DLC, I wouldn’t rule out an update on Tera Raid battles or a SV patch/update announcement.
Advance Wars - I’m leaning toward Twitter only, but if it is a January show I think they could talk about it. February nope. I think they should just quietly dump it out.
Everybody 1-2 Switch - so if this wasn’t straight up canceled, I could see a heavily retooled version appearing here and being the March game. Bayonetta Origins is the game for us, while Everybody sells the million or two to close out the fiscal year. In this scenario, this likely wouldn’t be announced at a Direct and we’d have the standard show in February.
Metroid Prime R and 4 - we know Prime R is done. My fear that it hasn’t shown up yet is that Prime 4 is not in 2023. A March release is the absolute latest imo for Prime 4 to be a holiday game contender, but I’m not seeing that with Bayonetta Origins having hardcore overlap in March. Maybe Prime R is the April game.
F-Zero GX HD - I think this has a higher chance of appearing than some other contenders in that it isn’t tied to anything. My heart says it is a June game.
Xenoblade DLC - Wave 3 will be at the next show. Wave 4 if it’s in January nope. If it’s in February, I think we’ll get a name and premise. I think Wave 4 comes in late June / early July. It’s definitely not before Zelda.
Switch Sports - I think this one is done :/
DK - if it’s a holiday game, I think this would be good to tease here. I keep leaning Mario is up first, but yeah we need some variety so why not.
Pocket Card Jockey 2 - I think we’ll see this here. It is so small and could launch at anytime.

The new DK game is a reboot of the arcade original, simply titled Donkey Kong.
Okay, but I would love everything about that. As a child it took me FOREVER to beat the Donkey Kong arcade game in DK64. And then I was never able to get enough points in Jetpac and therefore never beat DK64.

Oh yeah, I have been missing this thread! I'm fine with either January or February, but I think we may hear something next week, on the 5th.

So I check Famiboards and see 329 replies and I think to myself, wow I can't believe I haven't seen this thread over the last few days... and then I see it was created this morning. Never change, Fami 🥲

Happy new year and #TeamJanuary

Really don't want to come across as rude or anything, but am I missing a joke right here or.. is this actually quite significant?
