Really don't want to come across as rude or anything, but am I missing a joke right here or.. is this actually quite significant?

Quite significant.

Oh yeah, wonder if we'll see the Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster or the Final Fantasy IX remake here. The latter in particular I'm really curious to get a look at (and am assuming it's even coming to Switch).

Alright, here are my assorted Direct predictions before the year's end.

January 12, 2023
Nintendo Direct Mini
  • We Love Katamari Reroll: Royal Reverie (the only game I want)
  • no Zelda footage because God hates us
  • Metroid Prime HD. This is why that guy knows about it, I assume.
  • No F-ZERO yet because why would they y'know
  • Everybody's 1-2 Switch! They fixed it! Please!
  • Probably no word on Pikmin 4... it's too soon...
  • Something wacky like Tomodachi, Rhythm Heaven, or Style Savvy

February 27, 2023
Pokémon Presents
  • Scarlet and Violet DLC? Patches?
  • God, I dunno, a spinoff?

MARCH
ZELDA DIRECT
  • ZELDA
  • FINALLY
  • IS IT A GAME? OR IS IT DLC ON A CART??
  • FIND OUT IN MARCH

I support this, as Nintendo would bury visibility of Cereza and the Lost Demon under Zelda hype.

It's all games that have already come out.
Yeah but im interested in the list, they can be potential ports or patch games for drake

unfortunately I don't know how to access the data from that leak

No matter when the Nintendo Direct comes, remember to follow your hearts and be true to yourselves. Don't let discourse distort your understanding of what you really want or really care about. Above all else, relax and enjoy the ride.

As for predictions out of the gate:

I think we'll get some combination of a Fire Emblem Direct (if so probably next week), Pokemon Presents, and/or Direct Mini in January. If a Mini, then no General until March. If not, I think the General will be in early/mid February just like the last few years.

(that's not exactly an earth-shattering set of predictions, I know, but it feels right!)

It's important to note that Japan already got the Fire Emblem Overview Trailer. We will get it when the Western branches return to work sometime in the next week or week and a half.

Patterns are there to be broken, so this year team january will win.

… with a Partners Micro.

The last time we had a major general Direct in January was 2015, though there is usually something in January, be it a smaller-scale Direct, and Indie World, or something game-specific. I would say anything with the Direct branding would be a win for Team January.

Here are my predictions in terms of Directs for H1 2023.

January 2023

We’re getting a Tears of the Kingdom Direct. I have believed this would be a January thing for a while, but now with the special edition OLED already in production, I think they’re going to do a blowout in a 25-minute TotK Direct. They will show off gameplay mechanics, new characters/locales, and our first real look at what sets this game apart from its predecessor. We will get the official reveal of the leaked special edition OLED (which will release a couple weeks prior to the game, so in early May) along with some Amiibos in a new TotK lineup, which will release with the game. We will have some meaty deep-dives into the experience we should expect to have with the game. It’ll be what we’ve all been craving since E3 2019, although there will still be plenty of secrets that Nintendo doesn’t show off. Of course, we will be left to rampantly speculate about what those things could be, based on supposed clues from in-game footage from the Direct.

Fire Emblem Engage gets a couple more small trailers throughout January (kind of like the short environment trailers we got for Xenoblade Chronicles 3), before an Overview Trailer a few days prior to the game’s release.

Of course, there will be more little things here and there, but I think Nintendo will want to keep its focus on TotK and FE.

February and March 2023

Now comes the part where Switchum gets unpopular. I don’t believe we will get a General Direct until E3 in June. That means I really don’t know what to predict in these months.

I think we might get a Mini in either February or March, but for some reason, I’m really feeling that we might get a Partner Showcase. Nintendo will want to keep their focus on TotK, and aside from some Kirby and maybe a couple other smaller announcements, I don’t think we’re getting much else. Call me a pessimist, but it’s what I’m feeling.

We’ll see a Pokémon Presents in February on Pokémon Day that shows off the SV Expansion Pass.

We will, however, get another Mario Movie Direct in March. It’s weird calling them “Directs” because they’re basically just trailers, but that’s Nintendo’s official branding so it’s worth stating here.

April 2023

This month will focus on TotK and, of course, the Mario Movie. No more Directs about it, but just more clips and release trailers for the film. This is a huge deal for Nintendo, so they won’t want to divert attention away from it.

May 2023

TotK month, baby!! We’ll get the Overview Trailer, which will basically be a 7-minute summary of all the important facts about the game experience that we’ve gotten since the January TotK Direct.

June 2023

Here it is. E3 time, baby. Nintendo will come out swinging with a General Direct now that their Zelda and Mario focuses are out of the way, and we’ll finally hear more about Pikmin 4. We’ll likely also see something Metroid Prime (whether that be 1 HD or 4), and naturally a slew of other first-party announcements as well.

EDIT: I’m a dumb-dumb who forgot Pokémon. Added that in the February section.

I'm trying to keep my hype in check but holy crap 2023 is going to be the best year ever!

Maybe 2nd week of January? But I'm leaning more heavily to Feb only cause people will be fresh off holidays

There's like two immediate franchise updates I'd currently take pushing back the shotgun blast of Direct news a month for right now (in this current January to February context). Metroid with Prime HD as a way of gaining insight into Prime 4 and Mario in regards to the next game. Otherwise, I'll gamble with my shotgun blast of news where I'll probably get five to twenty some things I like and care about. Those two next updates haunt me. I would throw away a chance for a month to get even more info on precisely those subjects in these updates to be clear (everything still releases when it ultimately would).

Anyone else have this? All you get is a name and date of the next thing. So like if you pick Zelda, presumably you get DLC pack 1 for TK for example.

I would have speculated a Fire Emblem Engage direct but most of what I'd expect to be in a FE:E direct has basically been revealed on twitter over the past month. A deep dive into your base, detail on how the emblems work, and a ton of character reveals. They even revealed the dlc plans already at TGA's.

Barely any of y’all are ready for the inevitable February Mini that just reveals Mario Baseball and a ToTK Direct being all we get until E3😔

never mind still sizzy

This time, I'm going January. Like I said in the other topic, I could see Engage getting its last major push as its leads things off, before we start talking about other things like Kirby and BayOrigins. If Prime and/or now DK show up too, so much the better.

Tears of the Kingdom will probably be a no show, but it'll probably get its own Direct.
