I'm saying the switch hardware has shown to be technically weak, with pop in being one of the issues in multiple games. I'm also saying that game freak sucks lol.
That's fair, it's not like I disagree with either of those statements lol.

My brother in christ you don't know that. It's still in the Japanese trailer.
I'd propose that the discrepancy across the trailers tells us we can't assume that any trailer is showing us the final build.

Why are you arguing in such bad faith?
I'm not arguing to deceive here?

There's just as many good/great ports as bad ones, the bad ports just get more press. You can make the argument that any game could run better with a better chip. The next system isn't gonna solve this problem. It's still gonna be underpowered compared to the Series X/PS5. We'll still be having this conversation years from now. I just think it's pointless is all.
I get this line of thinking. Yeah, Nintendo hardware is always gonna be behind the others. You gonna need to start using a better chip someday though, why not earlier than later with DLSS being able to solve some problems? I know a lot of people who don’t buy most 3rd party games because they’re running so badly. That wasn’t a problem some years ago when the gap wasn’t that big.
And I think there being as many good ports as bad ones shouldn’t be the standard going forward. It never was before the Switch came.

Seriously did not notice any pop-in until looking for it.

Regardless, this is proven to be an earlier build with a lot of these graphical issues already fixed in the later builds, so there's not really much to worry about in terms of graphical fidelity.
I would hard disagree with "not much to worry about." Pop in, terrible textures, low framerate everywhere (yes, better in the Japanese trailer but still far from perfect), extremely low resolution shadows everywhere especially for smaller pokemon, outright missing shadows on things like grass, and on top of all that I think that the new physically based rendering they're using for the Pokemon actually makes some pokemon look substantially worse than ever before, like Jigglypuff who on top of having that washed out problem most of the post 3D transition games have had now also looks covered in dirt. I'm really disappointed with the technical side of this game so far.

You literally suggested that someone made up the pop-in argument and that they didn't watch the trailer. That's bad faith, man.

I just don't even know what to say anymore. I didnt think it was so controversial to say that both the switch hardware and game freak suck when it comes to the technical aspect of things. Game freak is just bad. we know this. We also know that pop-in has been an "issue" for a lot of games.

This is really ridiculous and I feel some sort of responsibility for the derailment of this thread. So I'm going to leave before someone else trolls and puts words in my mouth(not you) again. Maybe this thread will get back to where it should be.

I mean I think this has wound up being a pretty ugly game but mostly that's just my opinion
I think it's a semi-step up from PLA (contender for one of the ugliest triple-A for 2022) but still a very ugly game as well. Gamefreak needs to get rid of their decade-old engine, please.

personally I really don't like the color palette of these games

the first couple areas of arceus kind of used the color stylistically but then it completely fell apart with the water area

I hate sword and shield too so it all comes down to taste

I mean I think new hardware with better internals would be nice, but that hasn’t even been officially announced yet. It has no bearing on S/V as of now. And unfortunately that means they are ugly games. (Technically. Because aesthetically Pokemon continues being a banger.)

I also honestly don’t believe Game Freak would actually do that much better with new hardware.

Same, the pokes and the trainer designs are good, but they fall to mush in 3D.

Also...does anyone have any thoughts on the Spain-iness of the game? I'm an ignorant American, does it have any Spain feel at all?

Seems like a step back from Arceus to me, but if the co-op is actually good/viable for progression it could save it. Arceus with actual co-op exploration and progression would have been perfect.

Pokemon + Gamefreak. Name a more iconic duo when it comes to providing endless circling discussions about the same topic.

I'll wait.

Pizza + Pineapple maybe?

when drake releases, we'll finally get a pokemon game that matches Xenoblade 1's density

Is the game going to have voice acting?

I'm sure it won't, which is a joke.

Star Fox 64 was loaded with voice acting on a tiny cartridge decades ago. Small indie studios pack their games full with quality voice acting.

Monkeys paw it still looks like shit
I mean, that's fine, I guess? At least maybe they'd put in some decent endgame content. And if not, then hey, sounds like just another 3D Pokemon game. But at least as far as S/V goes, I'm cautiously optimistic since PLA was fun, if not exactly pretty.

These look pretty bland but I also just realized the "mushroom" must be the salt pokemon, which makes it more interesting
I thought it was the minecraft/cube rock pokémon. It is a two cube attacked to a big rock kind of thing. Doesn't look like anything salt related, salt doesn't even form cubic crystals, they're more like pyramids.

So less games with no benefit.
What do you want me to say when you randomly add "but the games will still look terrible" in response to me being happy about the idea of a more focused development cycle? Should I just say "Ah shucks, they really shouldn't bother trying then!" How is this even related to S/V at this point?

Yeah, this is a bigger deal to me than the bad graphics honestly. For a 'AAA' game that should have infinity budget, it's ridiculous to not have any VA at all.

Just to see how people would feel with less games even if there's no benefit
That's not what you asked though
You asked how we would feel if they spent more time on the game without improving graphics
There's plenty of content that could be added and improved with more time spent on the game.

To be totally honest, I have no idea where I was going with this, I am so sorry for lying and derailing this thread. I have no excuse.

dude i don't even know who you are anymore
honestly I'm kind of surprised by that image because I didn't realize I've made having not played a game that I've played such a major part of my forum presence

I am no longer in control of the raccoon persona, it has its own life now
