Definitely an earlier build or some weird video editing issue:The framerate on the windmill at 7:10ish is wild. It caught me off guard so much I had to laugh out loud. Other than that, it looks about as good as I expected. Some developers can squeeze water out of a rock, Game Freak isn't one of them (for various reasons).
you need a half hour?I cannot imagine taking ten minutes to make one imaginary sandwich
Definitely an earlier build or some weird video editing issue:
The textures look fine to me (the game looks nice as a whole minus the pop-in and aliasing).don't forget the textures, lod, and aliasing
if you don't have access to the same build, this can happen
who is in charge of this stuff
yall keep saying this when Xenoblade 3 is right there, taking a fat shit on these games, on the same hardwareThat grass pop-in is rough as fuck. It really is about time for new hardware. Other than that it looks brilliant IMO.
Apparently the Windmill and Sunfloras moved at a much better framerate in the Japanese Trailer. Not checked it yet, but hopefully some of the roughness of the English trailer is a earlier build or something
Being material from an earlier build could be, yeah.
Japanese trailer does look a lot smoother in some shots actually, which is bizarre in it's own way but I'll take it.
Going through Twitter, it does feel like the japanese trailer was made with a newer build compared to the us one at least.
Everything looks great except the framerate and pop-in. C'mon Game Freak get your shit together.
don't forget the textures, lod, and aliasing
Framerate at the Sunflora part was bad (but if the Japanese trailer was better maybe it's a build issue)
It sounds like the most egregious stuff (Sunflora, windmill) looked much better in the Japanese trailer?
hopefully the final build will have an extra layer of polish.
It's not the hardware, it's Game Freak. We don't need new hardware. That grass pop-in is rough as fuck. It really is about time for new hardware. Other than that it looks brilliant IMO.
It's both. It's not the hardware, it's Game Freak. We don't need new hardware.
Would make sense. At least it is good if the framerate won't be THAT bad at release, haha. The Sunfloras in particular just looked really bad there.Sorry for the wall of tags, but what's probably happening with The Sunflora Discrepancy is that non-Japanese trailers are showing an "outdated fork" of the game that was used for translating. My theory is that Game Freak sends the game to different localization teams as soon as it's "content complete", but not after graphical touch-ups and refactors have occurred.
But that's just a theory... a game theory. I could be totally wrong.
No, it's just Game Freak. Other open world games on the system run much better with a lot more going on.It's both.
breath of the wild's pop in is even worse lmaoNo, it's just Game Freak. Other open world games on the system run much better with a lot more going on.
BOTW? You sure about that? The grass is popping in when you're two feet in front of it in this game lolbreath of the wild's pop in is even worse lmao
Don’t remember that tbhbreath of the wild's pop in is even worse lmao
It's really, really not though. It's both.
breath of the wild's pop in is even worse lmao
Even Nintendos own titles are having more and more frame rate problems which didn’t happen often before. I do think it’s time for new hardware. Also, if you look at 3rd parties, so many devs struggle with the Switch‘s performance. You can’t just say „but 1st party still looks ok“ because there are so many devs that don’t have the knowledge and the tools that Nintendo have. It's not the hardware, it's Game Freak. We don't need new hardware.
That grass pop-in is rough as fuck. It really is about time for new hardware. Other than that it looks brilliant IMO.
That's because devs aren't spending enough time on the ports. Dying Light, Nier Automata, No Man's Sky, hell, even Sonic Frontiers seems to run well from leaked gameplay. We don't need new hardware. We just need more time.Even Nintendos own titles are having more and more frame rate problems which didn’t happen often before. I do think it’s time for new hardware. There's some bush exiting stealth really close to the trainer around 3:01 when they battle the Litleo.Where did you see grass pop-in in this trailer? Are you sure you aren't making this up?
No, it's just Game Freak. Other open world games on the system run much better with a lot more going on.
Oh come on. I'm not saying the game looks technically bad because of the switch hardware. I'm saying that we can both say that game freak is technically challenged(as usual) and that the switch hardware is lacking in general. It's really, really not though.
Go watch the part with the titan.Where did you see grass pop-in in this trailer? Are you sure you aren't making this up?
Game Freak is technically challenged because their engine is garbage and they're rushing games. Sometimes games just need more time in the oven. After enjoying the hell out of Legends I am not here for the technical aspect of Pokemon lol. It's good to see the framerate got better(JP version which is closer to the final version) but I just don't care. I'm sure there will still be framerate and pop-in issues and that's fine with me. If the gameplay is fun, which it looks like it will be then I'll be good.
The "Let's Go" battle command looks eh. Like it could be interesting but they just showed it off poorly. However, it makes more sense than what Legends had. The mechanics of the game are just different.
Lastly, Farigiraf is the stuff of nightmares.
Oh come on. I'm not saying the game looks technically bad because of the switch hardware. I'm saying that we can both say that game freak is technically challenged(as usual) and that the switch hardware is lacking in general.
Go watch the part with the titan.
The bit at 5:32 was really noticeable imo. Distractingly so.Where did you see grass pop-in in this trailer? Are you sure you aren't making this up?

Yup we better be able to speedrun sandwich making, just like in real lifeI cannot imagine taking ten minutes to make one imaginary sandwich
They really do need to do something about their dev schedule, but well the Pokemon franchise monolith must be fedGame Freak is technically challenged because their engine is garbage and they're rushing games.
And sometimes the console is so old there isn't much you can do about it. That's my stance and I'm just going to agree to disagree at this point. This will not serve the thread well at all.Game Freak is technically challenged because their engine is garbage and they're rushing games. Sometimes games just need more time in the oven.
Oh come on. I'm not saying the game looks technically bad because of the switch hardware.
This is clearly saying the pop-in is due to the hardware. That grass pop-in is rough as fuck. It really is about time for new hardware.
[The grass pop-in]'s not the hardware, it's Game Freak.
You're saying no, the pop-in is due to both the hardware, and Game Freak. It's both.
Seriously did not notice any pop-in until looking for it.Well this comes off as unnecessarily fucking hostile.
But that's exactly what you were saying? You were saying it was because of the Switch hardware, and Game Freak.
This is clearly saying the pop-in is due to the hardware.
You're saying no, the pop-in is due to both the hardware, and Game Freak.
I know, what's up?Yeah, that comment about hardware is from me champ.
I know, what's up?
maybe I overstated it a little bit but I resent the idea, intended or not, that switch is perfectly capable in open-world games and this is all because of those inept gamefreak developers
edit: rephrased to sound less accusatory of people's meanings
You’re proving my point here: Some studios don’t have the time to redo the level architecture and create more objects to reduce the field of view (Doom/Wolfenstein). They don’t have the time and money to adapt the title to the Switch’s limitations, trying to reach 30 FPS for games you can play at 60 frames, much better looking. You’re naming a few good titles, there are also so many bad ones: LA Noire, Outer Worlds, No more heroes, WWE, MK, Bloodstained, ARK, the list goes on. Not all would be better with a stronger chip, but some certainly would. Especially for smaller studios and indie devs. More time means more costs, and with Hardware from every other Publisher evolving, it means that it will take more and more time. How long after the original release do you want them to release the Switch versions? and that just because Nintendo wants to stick to a chip that was kinda outdated in 2017 already? That's because devs aren't spending enough time on the ports. Dying Light, Nier Automata, No Man's Sky, hell, even Sonic Frontiers seems to run well from leaked gameplay. We don't need new hardware. We just need more time.
yeah point takenHey, I'm #TeamDrake but you're comparing a game like BotW with its many moving parts to a game that has grass popping up literally two feet away from the character and saying the former is worse.
I'm saying the switch hardware has shown to be technically weak, with pop in being one of the issues in multiple games. I'm also saying that game freak sucks lol.But that's exactly what you were saying? You were saying it was because of the Switch hardware, and Game Freak.
This is clearly saying the pop-in is due to the hardware.
You're saying no, the pop-in is due to both the hardware, and Game Freak.
My brother in christ you don't know that. It's still in the Japanese trailer. Why are you arguing in such bad faith?Seriously did not notice any pop-in until looking for it.
Regardless, this is proven to be an earlier build with a lot of these graphical issues already fixed in the later builds, so there's not really much to worry about in terms of graphical fidelity.
I don't think new hardware is needed but all those games run at 30fps right? More powerful hardware would definitely be nice at this point. That's because devs aren't spending enough time on the ports. Dying Light, Nier Automata, No Man's Sky, hell, even Sonic Frontiers seems to run well from leaked gameplay. We don't need new hardware. We just need more time.
There's just as many good/great ports as bad ones, the bad ports just get more press. You can make the argument that any game could run better with a better chip. The next system isn't gonna solve this problem. It's still gonna be underpowered compared to the Series X/PS5. We'll still be having this conversation years from now. I just think it's pointless is all. There's nothing wrong with 30FPS though? I mean yeah it would be nice but it's not needed or necessary. However, this is probably a discussion for another thread.I don't think new hardware is needed but all those games run at 30fps right? More powerful hardware would definitely be nice at this point.
Who said that?Yeah, Switch hardware sucks, but Pokemon games don't have any justification to look as bad as they do. I agree that not every developer should be expected or can even afford to spend the time and resources that it takes to have their games run decently on heavily outdated hardware, but Pokemon isn't LA Noire, or No More Heroes, or ARK. Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in history, and while yes only a fraction of that comes from the games and the bulk of it is anime/merchandise/whatever, it's only thanks to the video games that the anime/merchandise/whatever exist. Hell, the games sell tens of millions of units anyway. GameFreak should have the resources necessary to make a competent game.
You're all mistaken if you think Pokemon games would be up to your standards if the Switch had better hardware. All that would happen would be that your standards for Switch games would rise, and GameFreak would still be doing the bare minimum, and so you would still think that Pokemon games look like shit by comparison.
I understand this line of thinking, but better hardware could bring a lot of improvements that don't necessarily require more workYou're all mistaken if you think Pokemon games would be up to your standards if the Switch had better hardware. All that would happen would be that your standards for Switch games would rise, and GameFreak would still be doing the bare minimum, and so you would still think that Pokemon games look like shit by comparison.
Not here to debate in the marketplace of ideas bro, just dropping by to say what I think. Try to bait someone else.Who said that?
Yeah like I said it's not needed, just as someone who typically plays most games at 60 or above 30 is definitely feeling a bit dated to me. And you're right, hardware stuff doesn't need to be discussed here so I won't say anymore on it.There's nothing wrong with 30FPS though? I mean yeah it would be nice but it's not needed or necessary. However, this is probably a discussion for another thread.
