i wonder if the picross S series will go into double digits. the e series on 3DS ended with 9.
 
My fairy tree dungeon got weirdly philosophical. Also I made it so there's a way to skip like 75% of it if you read a guide or something. Not sure why but I feel like that'll work for this.
 
Uggghhhhn, woke up with a headache, took some excedrin but it’s already too laaattttteeeee…. Well I’m still gonna try and make my group today. Probably not doing my bass practice this morning since headphones(my laptop has no bass output) and a headache is a no go for me. Maybe I’ll dive into some Xenoblade or FEWTH

Ironic that they'd remind people how forgettable it was.

My Avatar experience is weird. I was already salty on it before it even came out, but I don't really remember why. All I can figure is that I remember my friends trashing it, buuuut those are the same friends who eventually trashed Star Wars for having Daisy Ridley in the lead and trashed Marvel for making the Black Panther movie (which was just a Thor copy according to them) and trashed the Captain Marvel movie which according to them actually bombed but Disney had bought up whole theaters worth of tickets so it would look like it made a billion dollars, and so on and so forth, soooooooooo it's possible I was peer-pressured into hating Avatar by people whose whole MO is being hateful towards anything popular?

I always thought Avatar was an experience thing rather than an actually interesting thing. Probably part of the reason I never bothered to see it. That and I can’t do 3D

Nah a room temperature superconductor would have to be some compound with some crazy long name or acronym. If anyone gave it a nickname it would reflect what it does, like Supermetal or something.

I mean, would that be a good thing? I'm at S5 right now and the amount of recycled puzzles is crazy. Most of them are from 3DS games, I even made comparison side by side if they're really 1:1 (they are). Color picross is fun but not enough of them so far.

I'd be ok with even more picross games if majority of puzzles are brand new.

Regardless of my stance on leaks and rumors of new Nintendo hardware coming soon, I've been thinking... I'm just not financially ready to invest on nothing new and expensive right now. If we're truly at endgame for the Switch (I doubt it), I'm screwed it.. for that, I hope cross-gen continues for at least a whole year.

I'm not financially ready for it either (which is why I've been saving up my 5% Amazon cashback for literally years)

It seems doubtful that
A) The market willing to follow them through 8 on this system and more on earlier systems stops now
or
B) They'll pivot to highly computational demanding next-gen-only Picross Drake 1
so I guess so.
 
Sigh, I should really get some speakers or a sound bar for my living room setup. I've got space for a pair of modest ones underneath, anyone have any cheap suggestions? My new tv is better than my old one but rear facing speakers always suck whenever you have noise creators like a fan or ac going in the living room. I’m in a single wide so I don’t need anything crazy and I’m on a pretty tight budget

I will admit that the funniest thing to me is that when I first saw it I was like “wtf why did they make the 3D on the glass so weird, what??”

and wouldn’t discover for another decade that I had no idea what reflections in glass actually looked like because I’ve always needed glasses

and that aspect was in fact more accurate than I ever could have recognized at the time

still hate the movie though

because anything you do that to is a “kebab” of some kind over here

but in the original Turkish, the “shish” is the skewer and “kebab” is the lamb

What 3D on glass do you mean?

One thing that always bothered me that they didn't fix in the remaster was... still photographs taped to the fridge in their bunker were 3D. That always bugged me

Loved the movie more than ever tho

I just really thoroughly do not like it for a ton of reasons

wasn’t trying to ruin the thread vibe, it’s apparently contentious and I’m happy to keep my usual ranting down

having a bad time so I don’t want to be forwarding that here. just need a giant hammer and immunity of many kinds and I’ll be back to regular shitposts I swear

like uh think they had desks with glass displays or some shit?

and it was like sci-fi whatever but I think the glass was real

but I was so confused due to complete lack of awareness of my own eyesight that I was like “why did they 3D in the glass all weird”

Wish I had immunity to give you. But I do have a giant hammer in my shed if you wanna borrow it. Sorry for contributing to bad vibes - I just want to be able to express my love for a movie without reliably counting at least three people coming out of the woodwork to express how much they hate it. It gets annoying after... 12 years.

Here’s the crux of my argument: the engineers at the RDA called it unobtanium as engineers do, and the unimaginative suits like Selfridge just went with it. Cameron says as much in the Project 880 treatment when he writes, “Its joke name of ‘unobtanium’ has stuck, over the years.” If you don’t think he knew exactly what he was doing, guess what he names the passenger ship that delivers Jake (or Josh as he was known then) to Pandora? The Lockheed-Saab TAV-37 “Valkyrie” Class Shuttle. There are no oversights in the world-building of Avatar, nor in Cameron’s attention to detail.

You don’t need to read the original treatment or any supplemental books to understand why unobtanium is called unobtanium. RDA stands for Resources Development Administration for Christ’s sake! This is the banality of evil in action, boring us with hollow terminology while they genocide a tribe of native Pandorans. Calling it unobtanium speaks to the lack of creative spirit demonstrated by the RDA, whose weapons of advanced engineering were summarily defeated by mystics and warriors of Eywa.
The irony of rolling your eyes at ‘unobtanium’ is that you’re absolutely meant to. The RDA STEMlords that named unobtanium are as cringe as our modern-day engineering intellectuals. It’s exceedingly easy to imagine Elon Musk discovering a rare metal on Mars and calling it unobtanium, isn’t it?. A made-up name like pandorium or magnetium would have drawn less ire from uncritical thinkers, but it wouldn’t have been as meaningful or helped build the world as Avatar the way that unobtanium does. It’s not that deep, all things considered, but it is an example of Cameron’s strength as a storyteller, not his weakness.

It's a shame Nintendo don't share digital sales with independent trackers, because I'm sure the digital ratio for this game will be improved versus Splatoon 2. In the UK and Europe, game vouchers through NSO are a good value option for new first party games. The UK price - £42 per game plus cashback in the form of gold points - compares very favourably to physical retail, which hovers in the £40 to £45 range at most retailers.

I've got the game digitally this time and really need to start it at some point.
 
Just re-bought this classic on Xbox One X:

Already own it on PS4 but really want to replay it and can't stand update- and loading times on PlayStation anymore. This game has become my favourite FF after FFVI. I just LOVE the coming of age-vibes, the soundtrack, the cruising in the car while listening to FF OST's, the banter between the four friends, the tragedy that surrounds the story. I even really like the fast paced battle system which has some great tactical depth if you think clever about how to use your friends in battle.

Yes, I know FFXV isn't that well reveived by fans but I really think people will think differently about this game in a few years time. There is such great hope and meloncholy mixed in this game and the surrounding media like Kings Glaive and the Brotherhood animations.
