But will TGA finally stop snubbing Xenoblade
Its best chances lie on the RPG and Soundtrack categories i think... which will probably get their winners announced on 5 second rollouts, like 99% of the shows' awards

Last year they combined rpg with simulators and snubbed legit jrpg candidates. It suckedIts best chances lie on the RPG and Soundtrack categories i think... which will probably get their winners announced on 5 second rollouts, like 99% of the shows' awards
It’ll get “Best Family Game” or something, aka The So We Can Say We Gave Something to Nintendo Award. Now, get hyped for this world exclusive post-apocalyptic zombie survival shooter reveal: Dead Island by Dying DaylightSplatoon 3 is the biggest game launch in Japan so far and it won't get shit from Geoff
It's really. I got some prime TV going on right now between that and house of the dragon. Will start the lotr show when I finish edgerunnersCyberpunk Edgerunners is fucking phenomenal.
Scream 1s 4K looked phenomenal. Doubly so since the blu ray looked so poor, can't wait to see 2 get upgraded, its blu isn't much better.I'm going through a Nightmare on Elm Street marathon for the first time too! I'd only ever seen the original all the way through before now, so it's been fun. Highly recommend (though I'm only on part 4; maybe they really shit the bed after 3 lol). I'm also picking up the Scream 2 4K.

Is it fruitless of me to bet on Nintendo doing an FE direct in December to show some additional shit before FEE releases the month after? If Xenoblade and Splatoon can get one before their releases, don't see why FE can't either :d

My sister got a booster for free at CVS. You just gotta bring your vaccination card.I should check if I can get a booster in the US before going back to the UK. Pretty sure there's a clinic around the corner offering them.
You have my sympathies. Hope she’s as comfy as possible.* Hidden text: cannot be quoted. *

I have never eaten at these franchise Mexican restaurants; being raised in a Mexican family that type of food was always available to me.I actually like Chipotle for the most part, it’s not bad for a good burrito fix. And living in Denver I think I’m pretty much required to. The new garlic steak is good.
The "bad blood" is just embellishment from people wanting console war drama, but I don't doubt that Nintendo most likely cares very little about TGA. For years their involvement has usually been the reveal of a third-party exclusive, short gameplay videos, and/or DLC and ever since Reggie left it does feel like Nintendo has been distancing themselves from the show. Makes sense to me, why bother bringing a big first-party reveal to TGA when you can show it during a Direct where you don't have to compete with reveals from the other platform-holders.One of the things I keep seeing online is that Nintendo doesn’t care about Geoff Keighley and TGA, and that there is in fact some bad blood between the two parties in the wake of Reggie leaving. Is this true or is this just embellishment?
Nice! Don't get me wrong, it does not even remotely compare to authentic Mexican food. It's not even Mexican at all (even if they try to claim it is); I've heard of 'tex-mex' and 'cali-mex', and I've sometimes heard Chipotle called 'Colorado Mexican' which I guess kinda works? But even then, there are tons of places to get actual good authentic Mexican food here if that's what you want. But as a quick fast food burrito, it's tasty enough and gets the job done.I have never eaten at these franchise Mexican restaurants; being raised in a Mexican family that type of food was always available to me.
I've always regarded Nintendo as Apple, they do their own thing and very rarely have the need to promote their stuff with third parties. I think that's why it was a bit surprising to have the Switch with Jimmy Fallon. One of the things I keep seeing online is that Nintendo doesn’t care about Geoff Keighley and TGA, and that there is in fact some bad blood between the two parties in the wake of Reggie leaving. XC2 actually wasn't even competing against Persona 5 or Nier Automata, since XC2 came out after the yearly cutoff for award nominations (which is November 15th I believe). If it was going to be up for any awards it was eligible for the 2018 game awards, but everyone had either forgotten about it for those, or it just didn't get enough nominations. Releasing in December like it did is a really tough spot for TGAs. Now, the RPG category was pretty good in 2018 as well, but you could easily have replaced both the best RPG and bet music nominations that went to Ni No Kuni 2 with XC2. I remember everyone rolling their eyes that NNK2 even made it onto the list at all - or at least a lot of the RPG-enthusiast people that I usually listen to in the industry.Xenoblade 2 got snubbed because it was a game with mixed to positive reception, competing against the critically acclaimed smash hits of Persona 5 and Nier Automata. It had zero chance of winning as long as two existed in the same year it did.
XB3 will probably get a nod, since it's a pretty light year, and notably better recieved than XB2. Goty noms will probably look like something like Elden Ring, God of War, XB3, Horizon Forbidden West and some other third game. Maybe something like Splatoon 3 or Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe
Yep. The Game Awards are really the "Game Awards for late November 2017 - late November 2018", etc., every year. But games released post-cutoff but before the start of the next calendar year almost never get any nominations for exactly that reason. It's like the "January effect" (where a game came out so long ago at that point half the people forget it came out that year at all) when most outlets do their own GOTY voting, but amplified times ten since it's even more confusing.Sammy beat me to it. Yeah, the awards cutoff was November 27 that year, and Xenoblade 2 released on December 1. And by the following year, the one it was technically eligible for, it was old hat and nobody really thought of it as a “2018” game – nominators might not have even realized it was eligible.
I forgot it was December, I thought it was November 2017. Think Jedi Fallen Order was in the same boat as CP2077 and Smash, but it might have been right before the cutoffYep. The only game I can think of that came out in that window and still got a nomination for something was - bafflingly - Cyberpunk 2077 for Best RPG last year. I still have no idea how that happened, unless the name recognition was just so high that people threw it into the hat anyway.
EDIT: I forgot about Smash Bros! That's one that did still get noms
That one was even weirder since I think it released on the literal cutoff date - November 15th. So what the hell do you do with that? No matter which year it's eligible for people will be confused. If Geoff wanted the show to truly be the game awards of the calendar year, he'd do it in February like the Oscars, but that wouldn't get nearly the advertising dollars that TGAs gets now with the pre-holidays rush.I forgot it was December, I thought it was November 2017. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just forgotten about by that time

Xenoblade is my GOTY frontrunner, but I agree. Arceus was a phenomenon when it first came out. Hoping there is still room for Xenoblade on there to get more eyes on the game.I think Arceus has a better chance of making the list than XC3.

Absolutely agree with you and that's why every year the GotY picks for TGA mostly makes me mad. Last year was special though, since they didn't have much blockbuster games to pick as the other years, they went with less safe choices than usual, which was good (even though Hitman III should've be nominated in lieu of that extremely bland and forgettable Ratchet and Clank game). But this year, they'll absolutely go with GoW, Horizon and TLOU Part.1. Because that's the kind of 'Prestige Games' (a term that, I think, was coined by this very interesting piece of writing) that are designed to win awards.I wouldn’t be surprised if all three of GoW, Horizon and TLOU Part I got GotY nods. They probably all wouldn’t in a more crowded year. where Starfield and TotK all came out like they were supposed to. But I can’t really see, say, Kirby getting a nod, even though it deserves it. I’m not sure I can see Pokémon Scarlet & Violet getting nominated no matter how good it is. As with the Oscars, there’s a certain time of game that’s a “GotY game” and Sony happens to really over-index on the sort of serious single-player big-budget epic-feeling game that people like to award.
Like, in 2014, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Wii U were both fantastic games and I think it’s clear that they’ve had staying power but neither was nominated for GotY at TGAs, even though MK8 ended up tying for the most category wins of any game. Dragon Age: Inquisition was the winner, which…is an okay game, but no one ever really talks about any more. And Shadow of Mordor was another nominee, and that’s almost sort of known now for being a game that didn’t really live up to the hype. 2014 is known for being a sort of sucky year for games amongst the PS/Xbox crowd, because there was sort of a lull while developers prepared their next-gen titles and the big AAA games that did come out, like Inquisition and Mordor, were sort of just okay and not super memorable. And even in this environment, neither MK8 nor SSB Wii U could get a nomination for GotY. Games like Mario Kart just don’t win the big award.
