Last night I was at a housewarming party and the subject of Zelda came up. The thing about TotK being a direct sequel was questioned because someone said "but really aren't all Zelda games sequels?" and I described the difference between the direct "same Link, same Zelda" sequels and the games that take place generations later on the same timeline.
Exactly... it's in the same way that all Castlevania games and all Mega Man games are sequels or prequels. Mega Man X is a 'long distant' sequel to Mega Man I, but Mega Man II is the direct sequel. Aria of Sorrow is a sequel hundreds of years after Castlevania I, but Simon's Quest happens right after it.

I love all the disparate games being connected because we end up with the same character (Wily, Ganondorf, Dracula) across numerous games with different art styles and tones. It's especially funny in Mega Man because that goofy ass Dr. Wily causes Zero so much internal torment about his identity lmao

I received the email to order one but I decided not to. Unfortunately I barely have time for games these days to the point I actually got a backlog of new games for the first time in my life lol.

I'm not too fussed anymore since all the games I really want are coming to Switch.
Holy shit, that almost sounds like you've got a life outside of gaming?! Wtf?? Better quit your job and start working on that backlog instead! ;p

Seriously though, I totally get your decision and reasoning. I'm pretty sure I've got a lot more free time than you do at this point at least, and yet I'm still seriously struggling with getting the most out of both Switch and PC/Deck gaming wise; to the point where I've been seriously questioning keeping the Deck itself, returning to Switch primarily and PC as an all-in-one device for multimedia/working/games not on Switch. I'm sure I've written quite a few posts about that already as well 🤭 as some might recall, haha. So no reason to ramble even more here and now.

I just hope you'll be picking up P5R and Automata around launch regardless! :-D

Stupid easy omelette hack: you can never go wrong with adding a little bit of fresh basil and cherry tomato
chef-heart.gif

I like to use some bell pepper and onion and sauté before adding to an omelet. I do like @shoptroll cherry tomato suggestion. Gives a nice flavor bomb when you bite into them.
I usually sauté mushrooms and bell pepper (sometimes with onion) in the pan. Remove and add the egg (usually seasoned with some hot sauce and spice blend). Put everything back in after flipping the egg. Fold and squirt some sriracha on it.

Basil and tomato are a recent addition because I’ve been getting pints from the local farmers market and I need some ways to use up my basil plant before winter short of doing more pesto.

Speaking for myself, I'm definitely retiring from Nintendo rumors. For the longest time, I've wanted to start a blog about old classic films and traveling. I absolutely adore the Nintendo fan community, but sometimes the negativity gets mentally draining. As a parent, my main priority is my family.
Take care of yourself Emily. I do love reading your posts and takes on Nintendo so hopefully you will continue to do that whenever you free

Getting the itch to order a Steam Deck, but I’m not 100% sold on it and I’m not sure if the anti glare screen would be worth it or if I should just go for the cheaper one and get an SD card for it

I did! I thought it was very well done.

Every October, my husband and I do a horror movie marathon. It would be fun to go back and re-watch the older Scream films.
I rewatch the Scream movies every couple of years near Halloween, and it's always a fun experience thanks to the great meta humor and very likeable casts. Scream has always been a cut above as a slasher franchise IMO because they put work into the characters and mystery. You have to give us updates if you decide to go through with the rewatch! Scream 2 is such a standout, IMO.

Your film and travel blog sounds amazing, as I'm also starting to become more interested in travel and I'm taking my first-ever trip to Ireland this October, so I know you'll have quite a few readers just from Fami alone :) Glad to hear you're prioritizing family and the blog and everything that makes you happy! You've given the community so much already.

Nier is already pre ordered and I'm definitely getting P5R as well as Mario Rabbids and Bayonetta 3 all in October 😶.

I feel like if I got the Deck, I would probably spend more time in optimising the settings as opposed to playing games especially with a loud fan 😬.

I really need to see the new one. Got a large movie backlog on top of my tv one

Hope we get to see your blog shared here if you start it up. Would love to see your perspective on non-leak related topics!

My main thing about the Steam Deck is that unlike using Steam Link, which I could easily do, Deck has an actual suspend function that I’m interested in, but I’m not sure if I’m $400+ interested in it

For egg burritos I generally mix in some cheese(Gouda, jarlsberg and cheddar are common ones) some seasoning and maybe some sun dried tomatoes before cooking it.

Also just wrapped up this duo

Think these 2 should be pretty recognizable

I’d dive into xbc3 for the rest of the day but I have family around so while I wait for them to drag me into something I think I’ll clear the new Puzzles and dragons switch edition weekly challenge

Everyone , give me your best GameCube recommendations as I plan to emulate it on my steam deck when it arrives Wednesday. From big names to hidden gems, recommend away

I gave up on GameCube collecting due to the absurd prices and sold what little I had and I planned to emulate it.

EDIT is it okay just to ask for games to recommend to try out for emulation? Not asking for links

Custom Robo. Cubivore, Baten Kaitos(both), rogue squadron, Viewtful Joe, and Wario world

Between Switch and Steam Deck, I have too many games to play/purchase. Throw in going out frequently again....I really don't have enough time in a day anymore.

Square Enix in particular going nuts the next few months. I'm wondering how much of this is a pandemic backlog, especially for SE.

Nintendo's line up is pretty standard, really; but it is the first time since 2019 that they've had a long run of mostly new software.

I keep buying the SaGa games and not playing them. Minstrel's Song will also be bought by me. I need to finish the GB collection lol

Just preordered Mario+Rabbids, Bayo 3, Pokemon Dual Pack and FEE Divine Edition.

Nintendo really dropping a lot of games in the immediate.
Same thoughts man. I gotta refrain from purchases but the games are rolling in from Nintendo + Indies.

I honestly forgot how funny the original Star Wars trilogy is. I think the last time I watched them was right before I saw TLJ in theaters.

the mario film is most likely going to be mediocre but i doubt dynamo has anything to do with it as said in those ''leaks''

Super robot wars just has too many good songs even before the covers of classic themes. It’s cheating how many they got Kageyama and Ichiro Mizuki to do the leitmotif versions of a bunch of them too.

Don’t know where to post this but a super rare Mario Kart “XXL” cartridge for the GBA has been obtained so maybe we’re getting a ROM or some other footage of the game soon. It’s a never before seen Mario Kart game that some dev company pitched to Nintendo.

I'm starting to think in S-E's case it's part pandemic backlog, part "let's throw a lot of cheaper stuff at the wall to pay for Rebuild of Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Final Fantasy XVI"

I've started RS2 and Frontier but keep buying them anyways just out of sheer appreciation for Kawazu sticking to his guns for 30+ years at this point.

It hurts to have someone holding up a mirror to myself like that, lmao
Yeah, I've probably been tweaking more in total time spent with the device than been playing games. Depending on my current mood, I find the ability to do so either liberating or stress inducing, haha.

You know, I thought after this week of announcements, the rest of the month would be pretty quiet apart from game releases. Gaming discourse has been over the top today lol.

Anyone here playing the Wo Long demo? I picked it up and it's fun, but a bit weird to get used to. It's like 3/4 Nioh, 1/4 Sekiro. Except regular attacks and sprinting don't cost stamina, but most everything else does. And the biggest issue is that there's only one button for dodge and parry, so you have to double tap to actually roll-dodge. I'm sure I could get used to it in a full game kind of context, but it's going to take time, that's for sure.

Japanese devs needs to slow their roll right now and just chill so people can catch their breath. Or is this just karma for the PS3/360 generation?
Yeah I feel like I'm back in the GBA and/or DS years. Lots of ports and remakes along with a few new and original games. New IP's even (DioField!)

Only downside is they're all RPG's or tactics games. Action/platformer/slasher is not a field unless it's a remaster of an old game, which is only done by Namco. I just wish all the big publishers remember they all own quite a lot interesting platforming franchises. Especially Konami and Sega.

Metroid Prime Remaster and Stinky Horse double pack this holiday. You get one of the greatest games of all time and you get Metroid Prime for the price of one.

I did! I thought it was very well done.

Glad to hear that you liked 5, i'm really looking forward to 6 next year. Scream 2 is getting a 4k release next month, I'm debating wheter I want to marathon all of them before Halloween or wait until early next year before 6 comes out. Last couple years I've done October marathons for the Friday the 13th movies, I might switch it up for Nightmare on Elm Street this year.

I should check if I can get a booster in the US before going back to the UK. Pretty sure there's a clinic around the corner offering them.
