Yep, in fact, every day someone dies. So if nintendo really wants to be sensitive they will never have a direct again.

That's the main issue here. Either Nintendo goes ahead with the Direct, or those titles will be surely be revealed next week outside a delayed Direct in some form or fashion. Becuase I seriously doubt TGS will be cancelled.

So the question for me, if the Direct is delayed, is what realistically will be left to reveal from a third party perspective after TGS? The current Direct would surely have to be reworked, and at that point is it worth the trouble? Wouldn't it instead be easier to do Twitter reveals for the remaining unrevealed titles planned for this year?

I still personally believe the Direct will happen next week. Mainly because of the contractually headaches involved. But if it doesn't, that means that Nintendo has a way around this type stuff within the contracts they created, and therefore I don't think it would be wise to just assume a Direct is still coming.

No, they said as soon as this week, then clarified they heard this week. That was in the first podcast when Jeff mentioned week of the 12th. I haven’t followed closely since then to see if he clarified it more

Obviously direct speculation is at the forefront here, but I am curious as to what happens with the other upcoming presentations. Hard to imagine Disney and Ubisoft go forward with their stuff.
 
So why delay a Direct who never was announced in the First Place? Also I‘m not begin harsh or something, but that has to be a bad Joke?

When they shadowdrop a Partner Direct next week with no promotion, and the first party announcements are spreaded through Twitter Directs during October - November - December...
 
the only thing I can say is: the splatoon 3 haters were right, the game is going to be a huge flop in England.
 
It's now 3AM in Japan, the big folks at NCL go to work in like 5 hours.

The big friday meeting is here. Splatoon 3 releases today! Yes, it will sell big number once again.

Nintendo isn't delaying the Direct out of respect for the passing of the Queen but because all news will be focused around the Queen for weeks and Nintendo wouldn't want that to cannibalize any planned Direct news event.

Disney’s presentation is a physical event that is part of a paid fan conference, D23. They really can’t cancel that outside of, like, an immediate security threat. But yeah, they’re definitely wishing their Disney+ Day announcements were on a different day, I’m sure.
 
In all seriousness, I have no idea how someone who doesn't work at Nintendo would know before she even died that the Direct is being delayed because of her death, especially since it's 2AM in Japan right now.
 
My thing is it would make more sense if the direct was delayed if it was on the same day as the funeral. But we don't know the date of the funeral lol. That will take a lot of time to plan. I don't know if that would even happen next week tbh.

I’m of the opinion that IF it gets delayed, it will only be delayed by a week or so. As many others have said in here, there are a lot of third party contracts to satisfy (maybe there’s alternate clauses that allow for different ways to reveal software? Who knows).

Yes, this will frenzy up the media for the next week or so, but at the end of the day Nintendo is a business and (sadly for most corporations) profits come before people. There’s probably enough media real estate space to report on Elizabeth for the next 2 weeks as well as still cover video games.

Now let’s just hope we don’t have any major Trump drama in the next 2 weeks…

As I said previously, in the span of 5 hours, someone high up at Nintendo would have had to hear the news of the queen being ill, made the decision to postpone the Direct, notified the other Nintendo branches worldwide, maybe notify third parties, and then that news somehow gets passed down to someone at Giant Bomb. All of this while most people in Japan are sleeping.

I can see someone at someone at NOA or NOE speculating about what they might do and it might ultimately be delayed. But I have a hard time believing that Nintendo had made an official decision about it in such a short amount of time.
 
I guess we're getting past 700 easy now, maybe even 800 pages.
Are we up for a 1000 pages if we only get twitter drops?
