Only around a week to go. I love the rumors and vibe right now, I hope we stay about where we're currently at and don't get too much else; I love being mostly surprised, and this Direct feels like it has that potential.

Ok Fami--

We've officially reached the point where no direct can hold all the games being rumored. I don't even see how they will all fit into 2023 at this point. With the direct around the corner its time to have realistic expectations.

Don’t crush my Donkey Kong Hope

Square has been a great Switch supporter. Surprising their most requested games haven’t made it to console. Just bizarre really.

This is gonna be a Konami Direct isn't it.

MGS 1-2-3-4-Rising Remastered, 2 and 3 shadow drop
Castlevania DS Collection
Tiny Toon Adventures The Acme Collection
Suikoden Masterpiece 5 game pack
Hard Corps 2 from WayForward

And the biggest surprise is... A big budget Boktai game!

Based on every direct since 2017 I would expect at least one surprise port as well, maybe it's the MGS remaster, but I'm thinking along the lines of something like Dying Light 2 being native. Or maybe they moved up that surprise to the spring direct with NMS.

“Welcome to the first ever Nintendo Port Direct, featuring remasters, remakes, and ports of some of your favorite games from Nintendo and our third-party partners”.

I just hope Ninty won't make us wait untill next year to play GBA on NSO. I need the minish cap and both metroid as soon as possible. Please.
Here's what I think will happen in the direct:

Yoshiaki Koizumi or Shinya Takahashi (sorry if I misspelled their names) will appear after a Nintendo Switch Headline, explaining to the viewers of the Expansion Pack. Then, he'll tell us that we'll be getting two new consoles for the plan starting with...

Gameboy Coin sound plays as they show Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance games running on the Nintendo Switch. They explain the launch lineup, and then say "And addition to Gameboy games..."

Gamecube Coin sound plays as they show off Gamecube games running on the Nintendo Switch. They explain the launch lineup blah blah blah.

OR in an alternative universe

Whatever iconic sound Turbographx 16 is known for plays as they show off Turbographx 16 games running on the Nintendo Switch. They explain the- you know the rest.

I know it's coming, those son of a guns.

There are not that many games strongly rumored to be in this direct. There are a lot of rumors of ports and remasters they're working on but I don't see anyone expecting all of them here.

For me, I'd only bet money on MP1 Remaster trailer and release date, TP/WW trailer and release date, BOTW2 teaser with name.

That's possibly the entire backbone of the Direct, but there's always a 1st party surprise.
I think GB/C for NSO is also a safe bet.

They will reveal new games to keep the momentum going! Game might be further out but they will reveal something.

never forget what nintendo took from us

I still remember obsessing over the screenshots of this on the old Rareware website. One of my favorites was seeing Sabre paddling down a canoe on a beautiful river (this wasn’t in the final game). And also reading about it going to be shipped on a 512mb cartridge I believe, one of the biggest on the N64.

I like Starfox Adventures and the game still holds up very very well graphically, but I’ll always wish we had received Dinosaur Planet instead.

Can't believe we got into the actual ninth month of 2022 and Square Enix are still too damn rude to tell me when I can play Final Fantasy VI on my Switch.
Can't believe we got into the actual sixth year of the console and Square Enix are still too damn rude to tell me when I can play Chrono Trigger on my Switch.
Can't believe Square Enix are still too damn rude.

Period.

Nintendo hasn't posted since Sep 2, perhaps maybe there's a chance of it being this week? After all, Jeff said it could happen as soon as this week.

To people who don't follow rumors, MP1 Remaster could be the 1st party surprise. 🤷‍♂️

TBH a lot of Dinosaur Planet's actual gameplay didn't really look that different from what we eventually got in Adventures. The real problem and why the game was so massively cut down from its original form wasn't necessarily because they slapped Star Fox on it, it was because the game was totally rushed to hell and back because of the impending Microsoft buyout.

tbh I just think DP was always kinda doomed. Even if it remained Star Fox free, it would of been sent off to Microsoft land where it would continued to lanquish in development hell and still come out on Xbox or Xbox 360 half baked and probably bomb and be forgotten about. It's what happened to other lategame Rare titles like Kameo (which went from an N64 game, to a GCN game, to an Xbox game to finally a Xbox 360 launch title), Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Perfect Dark Zero, so unfortunately I don't think DP would of faired much better.

The super late N64 era and the start of the 6th generation just wasn't a good period for Rare.

I liked the art direction in Dinosaur Planet a lot more than what we got in Star Fox Adventures... but, I'm forever grateful for the change; I like that Nintendo ended owning Krystal, Tricky, General Scales and everything Rare created for the game. The more of Rare content that stuck with Nintendo, the better in my book!

And we got the freaking sequel over it first is crazy to begin with
Yep! And Cross coming first makes me think they must be doing something more with Trigger than a port. I'd be excited to see an HD-2D version or something but damn, I really really hope they still give us some way to play the original, either as an alternate version like in DQXI or finally put it on NSO or something. I don't want the original to be lost to history.

I presume that Guns of the Patriots is going to be stuck in PS3 jail forever at this point.

From what I've heard, the rumored collection only includes the first 3 games, though it could always be based on incomplete information of course.

They updated the steam version not too long ago so it’s possible

Still need to play the first one but I wanna play it on Switch and heard the switch port is bad so😭
Your mileage may vary, but I think that in its current state Bloodstained is perfectly playable on Switch. I mean, its objectively inferior to the other versions, but it has come a long way from the utter mess it was back when it was originally released.

A lot of stuff has been flying around, but to my knowledge the expected stuff has mostly remained at Metroid Prime HD, Fire Emblem, WWHD + TPHD, and BotW2, no? Add in NSO stuff and maybe one more surprise, and that’s pretty close to the February direct. Doesn’t seem to be that crazy of an expectation, at the very least.

Don’t forget new Parodius (or all the PSP collections that never left Japan).

I would love a Castlevania DS collection. I always wanted to play Order of Ecclesia but it's ridiculously expensive.

I'd easily give all of that up for complete rights over Diddy Kong Racing tbh

Yeah, don’t forget, all these remasters that are in the works will be spread across the next few years so don’t expect everything to be thrown into on single presentation

Star Fox Adventure wasn’t that bad.

I mean. Sure you can literally see places where development took a big hit. And where Star Fox stuff was slapped in.

But it was a decent game all and all. Always surprised it didn’t end up worst when I learned about its development.

I've recently been playing no man's sky on PC gamepass. Never tried it before and I'm really enjoying it. I put on the botw sound track and just fly around in space

Kinda fascinating that Diddy Kong Racing itself essentially is a Star Fox Adventures type deal, as it was originally just going to be a revival of Rare's old Pro-Am franchise, starring Timber the Tiger.

Then he got sidelined in favor of Diddy

I also expect MPHD for this year, TPHD and/or TWWHD + BoTW2, Fire Emblem for early 2023 and that's all. I wouldn't mind a game coming later in 2023, obviously (remake liké Starfox / F-Zero GX, or not).

Well, Nintendo already owns the majority of that either way; It's really just most of the playable cast that are Rare/Microsoft owned.. and that has no way around.

But I'm sure these days this is not much of a hurdle and we'll see Diddy Kong Racing on NSO soon.

If we do get another remaster beyond the ones already speculated, my guess would be F-Zero GX or The Thousand Year Door. The former due to recent smoke, and the latter so that Nintendo can get another Mario product out quickly and avoid clashing with the next Paper Mario game in 2024/2025.

Speaking of which, The Origami King is over two years old now, what the hell.
