In case anyone else likes reading fake leaks like me
Give us more so we can use them to kill our boredom.

Apparently Fire Emblem has been done for a year? I'm not sure if that's actual info from Grubb or if he got it from someone else.

I think both Emily and Nate said a few months ago that the game was finished last year and was originally intended to be released as an anniversary celebration game.

Not sure if this is already widely known, but Grubb just said the next Fire Emblem has been finished for over a year.

EDIT: Someone beat me to it haha

"A new FE game is shown off. It has a main character with weird ass SMTV hair."

wow that's so specific, how'd they come up with it?
Obviously that's how you know it's true, no one can come up with specific details like that

The only way I'd trust this leak more is if it said the Fire Emblem protagonist has blue and red colored hair, and was related to a dragon. Two details you could not fake and that definitely don't come from anywhere else

Games being done for a long time from Nintendo isn’t new news. We hear this all the time. They’re probably sitting on the new DK game

We know Prime has been done for nearly a year, too. Given the rumours back in 2020/21, it wouldn't surprise me if the Zelda ports have been done and dusted at Nintendo for even longer than Prime and Fire Emblem.

Release timing for these games won't be determined on their completion date alone. Take Metroid Prime; it wrapped up development a month or two before Metroid Dread released and so there's little sense in rushing Prime to market. In other cases, there could be even more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. New Fire Emblem might have wrapped up at the same time that Warriors Three Hopes was finishing; maybe Nintendo and KT wanted Three Hopes out first so that it would be the first FE release after Three Houses.

Zelda especially I'm curious about; if the ports have been ready for a while, and if the next new game is launching in the first half of 2023, then why now? Hopefully it means Nintendo are happy with what they have lined up for Zelda in the next few years.

I just don't get why they would sit on it. Why not release Fire Emblem in 2021?
Actually, iirc Emily specifically said that the game was content complete at the end of August 2021, and was in the testing/polish stage of development until February of this year. And they've apparently been sitting on the game since then to develop DLC that can be released in a timely manner.

Maybe they want to get some of these finished games out now before the Switch Pro arrives, so the next 6-9 months could be pretty packed if that’s the case.

Assassin's Creed Mirage definitely isn't coming to the Switch, right? I only ask since they say it's back to basics, and most of the basic AC games are on the Switch.
Who knows? AC Ezio Collection sold really well on Switch, something will definitely follow that. If they made something like Immortals on Switch, no reason not to create an Assassin's Creed game in same scale.

dont think nintendo wants to titanfall 2 their own games

maybe on the succ. definitely feels like the type of launch title nintendo will want. that and elden ring.

While im primarily hoping for Metroid Prime remake/remaster, if we get Paper Mario TTYD remaster im going to be over the moon since i never got to play it and i only finally played the Original Paper Mario thanks to NSO

OMG ME TOO, I just started playing the OG Paper Mario on NSO (I'm on chapter 2 rn).

Im 33 years old so i grew up with the N64 and can't believe missed this gem of a game (Chapter 4 here)
I'm so excited for all of you! PM64 and TTYD are two of my favorite games of all time. I'd love to hear how your feelings on the games progress as you make your way through the chapters :)

A remastered/remade 64 or TTYD would be one of my most emotional reactions to a Nintendo announcement ever lol

Honestly easiest way to get me to ignore DLC is to release it too late. I know people have issues with the idea of “holding content back for DLC” but I really don’t think I’d mind having quality DLC release for games about 4-6 months after launch.

Edit: not saying that’s the smartest business move. No idea. Just saying it would probably suit me best

I shall continue praying that a late 2022 release for any FE game is still possible. Three Hopes' time has expired, just put out one more to end it off before we get another in 2023 :>

Yeah, I think it makes sense. Personally, I love FE too much to ever ignore DLC for it no matter how late it is, but I agree with the sentiment in general lol. Even from a business standpoint, releasing DLC in a timely manner could result in higher sales of both the DLC and the vanilla game, so I think it's a pretty smart move from IS/Nintendo's perspective.

The thing about the "holding back content for DLC is bad" argument, at least if you don't qualify it at all, is that it's an inadvertent argument in favor of raising the price of games. But no one actually supports that.

I noticed Nintendo doesn't seem to like the word "remake."

I remember it felt like they went out of their way to not call Link's Awakening a remake.
It's weird because back on Wii U/3DS days they called games that are arguably remasters as remakes(Twilight Princess HD, I remember quite clearly Reggie talking about Tantalus being experienced with remakes handling it, iirc they also called WW HD a remake). 3DS Zelda's were called remakes too IIRC.

I bet it will be called just ''Metroid Prime'' :)

Deluxe both undersells it and is too... colorful for it? idk
HD also undersells it and gives the appearance that its more like the zelda style remaster kind of thing
Anniversary Edition makes sense but at the same time it could make things worse if they want to remaster 2 and 3 in the future. I dont think they will wait until 2007 to remaster 3 lol.
Definitive Edition also makes sense but imo its kinda boring, i hope they dont use it lol.

Calling it just Metroid Prime works imo, it already implies this is the definitive edition of the game without the tacky title. Like RE2
I agree with that as well. IIRC they've never gone with "TITLE: Remastered", right? And I think remastered also doesn't give the full picture of what it is. Idk, maybe we're on a different gen now but 2014/2015 really made the name "remastered" have a really boring sound as in not a lot of additions or change.

I think it'll either be Metroid Prime Remastered, Metroid Prime Remake, Metroid Prime (Remake), Metroid Prime Anniversary or Metroid Prime: subtitle that says new version with other words (like other games had Reloaded or Redux or stuff like that).

Definitely don't see them going with HD, Definitive Edition, Deluxe or Part I.

Allegedly so the DLC can be mostly done pre-release and they can have a tighter release timeframe between waves than 3H.

I think that was just Emily speculating. I don't think anyone has definitively said that was the reason why Nintendo was sitting on the game.

Could be a good reason. The DLC for 3H was decently liked from what I remember. I think they believe DLC with Fire Emblem is a good financial and marketing strategy.

Just putting it out there, the Direct will be on the 13th, not the 14th, because otherwise it'd bleed over into TGS on the 15th in Japan/Australia time zones

I'm incredibly tempted to play Prime on the Steam Deck using Primehack and the HD texture pack.

Here's hoping Prime HD gets announced before I get through my replay of Castlevania: Lament Of Innocence and Soul Hackers 2.

There's probably a multitude of reasons as to why Nintendo sits on several games but Covid probably fucked the pipelines and scheduling a ton. Even if a specific game's developments was directly affected by Covid, other games that had to be delayed might be releasing in later time slots which then pushes back other games which then sets off a domino affect of shifting release dates. It could be that Nintendo is holding onto Fire Emblem because they are already publishing a bunch of RPGs this year and don't want them overlapping with each other too much.

Speaking of holding onto games, I remember Dennis Dyack, of Silicon Knights fame, was on a podcast with 1up.com and he was arguing that games shouldn't be announced until after the games were done. Basically finish the game, announce the game, then to the previews and marketing, and then finally ship it. That practice was basically unheard of back in 2007-2008. He argued that showing off unfinished games presented them in a bad light and resources had to be taken away from a game's actual development to make polished vertical slices for events like E3. He made this stance because of Too Human's poor showing at E3.

Funny how we was onto something and we are seeing companies do that more often. While not always after a game is 100% complete, I think we are seeing some companies hold off on announcing games super early and waiting till the game is nearly done.
