This week is empty, yes some might say that the Direct this week will interrupt Splatoon’s marketing and that might be true but am not really supporting this logic. Because if the Direct takes place on September 1st (2nd in Japan and EU) that is one whole week before Splatoon launches. Usually when Direct ends Nintendo will tweet about the games that were featured there for one or two days and that’s it. They don’t look back and say „Hey look, here is another reminder that you saw new BOTW2 trailer 4 days ago“ and so on.

I would say the Direct taking place in the Splatoon week this is also not a good spot, since you need to put out reviews for Splatoon. Going by last of their major releases the embargo for Strikers dropped on Wednesday while the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was Tuesday so it will be either 6th Tuesday or 7th Wednesday for reviews. That leaves a very little possibility to announce or air Direct on these dates. There is also a Apple Event happening on 7th and rumored Sony showcase on 8th. I would guess that Nintendo don’t care since they held a Direct in September 2017/8 day after Apple event but am just posting this for full context. the realization that Splatoon reviews would be out the week of Splatoon is the thought that originally had me switching to Sept 1, but you’ve laid out an incredibly detailed reasoning here as to why Sept. 1 is truly the strongest pick.
 
I feel the problem with a TGS week Direct is TGS starts on Thursday, and a Wednesday Direct would mean Thursday Japan time. It could be Tuesday I guess, weirder things have happened and maybe Nintendo is truly hellbent on breaking patterns.

Wasn't there a rumor from years ago that IS was making a new Pushmo game for Wii U that got canceled? If there's any truth to that rumor, maybe it'll eventually show up on Switch?

Maybe it'll be the fabled 2022 game from IS since the new FE is clearly a 2023 game lol

I want B so bad to be real that I could continue to wait for BOTW2 firm release date and a Switch Drake announcement, so I hope my Option A-picking fami are pleased with what they'll get out of this coming Direct while my hopes and dreams continue to languish

I'm surprised not even a fanmade animation interpretting Luigi's Mystery of the Marvelous compass with the sass provided by his partners was ever made, but goodness I'd love to play Luigi's adventure too just because I want to see how the 2nd most famous brother and most famous klutz is known for saving the world

I don't they'll do this honestly as the game was even an E3 reveal, then a Direct re-revealed date after the first delay, and is now finished and just waiting to be released.
I think it'll get the final date/trailer on the next Direct and September 30th makes a lot of sense to me.
I mean they've hired another studio to make it and it's already a small franchise, they won't want to get the game bombed on purpose.
We're having realistic looking war games releasing, every year we even have US military propaganda games that dehumanize groups and media never gives any rant or is negative towards it. If they go full rage against a small release made by an indie studio that is very niche and toy looking with a CoD game coming the same month it would be very very ridiculous imo.

Usually when Direct ends Nintendo will tweet about the games that were featured there for one or two days and that’s it. They don’t look back and say „Hey look, here is another reminder that you saw new BOTW2 trailer 4 days ago“ and so on.

I would say the Direct taking place in the Splatoon week this is also not a good spot, since you need to put out reviews for Splatoon. Going by last of their major releases the embargo for Strikers dropped on Wednesday while the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was Tuesday so it will be either 6th Tuesday or 7th Wednesday for reviews. That leaves a very little possibility to announce or air Direct on these dates. There is also a Apple Event happening on 7th and rumored Sony showcase on 8th. I would guess that Nintendo don’t care since they held a Direct in September 2017/8 day after Apple event but am just posting this for full context. The Direct also can't take place on 8th since that would already be 9th in JP and EU and I think doing Direct on Splatoon 3 release date is literally out of the question that's for sure.

One last week that is possible is second week of September from Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th (TGS starts on the 15th but Direct imo can’t take place in JP the same date as TGS starts). Some people say it will happen since Splatoon 3 will be out by then. If we exclude all possible days that week we really come out with one single date and that is.

Announcement on Monday 12th.

Direct taking place on Tuesday 13th in US (14th midnight in most of Europe and 14th in the morning in Japan).

Sounds good.

But I have one big problem with this date.

Direct would take place just one single day before TGS starts. One day imo isn’t enough for a titles announced in the Direct to then showcase at TGS next day. If it would be 3 to 4 days I would be on team that week, but the one day window is just so small that this opporunity is basically non existent.

And that brings me to the actual date of the Direct.

September 1st.

Announcement taking place on August 31st at 23:00 JST for a show on September 1st in NA, 2nd midnight CEST and 2nd morning in Japan.

If you may be wondering if it's problem that the Direct announcement will be different month than the Direct itself. This isn't the problem. As shown in the past:
September 1st 2016 Direct announced last day of August, April 1st 2015 Direct announced last day in March, Smash Ultimate Direct on November 1st 2018 announced in last day of October and list goes on and on.

Also it will never be week of Splatoon because of reviews. If the reviews drop on Tuesday they can't announce Direct on Tuesday 6th. And if they try to announce Direct on Wednesday 7th that will already be air date 9th in Japan (fucking Splatoon's release date).

I know IS won't be with huge staff involved on the next FE again, but they are making the remake by themselves. It could be that they're working on the remake for longer tho so they can work on two projects at the same time.

There a 2 things that got me thinking today:

Since when did Kid Icarus became part of the "Nintendo doesnt make them anymore" conversation. There are like what 3 games in the series (2 from the gameboy days).

Also I've seen a ton of reviewers/people say "we dont get 40-50 hours rpgs anymore", like in the last 10 years we had 3 franchise that have long rpgs (DQ, Persona (SMT games are not that long) and Xenoblade). Even FF has been delivering shorter experiences. If you include side content, yeah every game is over 80 hours. Am I missing something?

Idk if it is this week wouldnt Nate announce his recording predictions? Anyways im still hoping it is. It really makes sense vs other weeks and I dont see near the end of September after TGS.
 
Splatoon 3 very soon. A Direct very soon. And now the possibility that Advance Wars will be releasing very soon too!?

Nate doesn't have to announce he's recording his predictions. He could just prerecord them without telling us and say "New Nate the Hate tomorrow" after the Direct is announced and I'm sure if he wants to answer any Streamlabs questions those are probably readily available anyway

My theory on the four Untitled Games getting maintenance:

- Game Boy NSO
- Game Boy Advance NSO
- PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 NSO
- One Nintendo Direct Shadowdropped game

What’s stopping the Direct from being on August 31?

For those of you certain about this week, why couldn’t it be Wednesday? Is it just because it has to be a “September” Direct?

Thankfully Prime 4 is likely to be a breakout hit with the right marketing. Assuming the game is solid too ofc
 
But why would the maintenance happen 2-3 whole days before the Direct.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the NES/SNES maintenances happen on the same day as the new games drop, right?

There’s probably more to do when launching an app than simply updating it? I don’t know for sure though.
