Haven't followed in a while, do we believe a direct is imminent based on somewhat concrete info? Will Xenoblade Chronicles 4 be announced in it?

Thank you
Yeah, Nate said it is more than likely that there will be a General in September. Since historically it has been before TGS, it is most likely this or next week. I hope your XB4 question is a joke though.

Even if we don't get a Direct this week, we can at least console ourselves with 3rd party TGS schedule and lineup announcements as they start to trickle in.

I'm still expecting a 8/31-9/1 date but if it's not then I would expect 9/6 as the next most likely before TGS. I say the 6th because Apple is on 9/7 and Sony and Ubisoft are rumored to have events later in the week. NoA will also riding high after the MK8 and Splat 3 events at PAX West on the 5th, so it's a good opportunity to stay in the gaming news headlines. I don't think they'd do it but it'd give them a sick mic-drop opportunity at the end of the 9/5 event: "And one more thing: Nintendo Direct tomorrow".

I just don't see things happening the week of TGS because that's way too close to the event. By then all the JP third parties will have all their details out there for the show and that's going to dull the impact of the Direct.

But hey it's 2022 and this year has been weird so anything is possible

I find the lack of faith in WWHD/TPHD disturbing to be honest. IIRC (and correct me if I'm wrong) Nate said at the end of 2020/early 2021 Skyward Sword HD was a thing, it was finished and we should be seeing it soon. Now Grubb is saying the same thing about WWHD/TPHD, by saying something along the lines of "based on what we're (he and his co-host Mike) hearing, they shouldn't be stuck on Wii U for much longer and we should hear about those pretty soon." Many of us, myself included believed Nate at the time, yet I see a lot of skepticism towards Grubbs claim now. How come? :)

Ubisoft actually has a confirmed event set for September 10th, a Ubisoft Forward.

because nate is nate and grubb is grubb

To add to my post about WWHD/TPHD, I'm very supportive of both Nate and Grubb and I'm very grateful for what they do for us

I haven't been that active in the discussion, but I have no doubt those will happen. I just doubt they're going to be a two-fer. In which case I also wouldn't be surprised if one lands this holiday and the other in Q4 2023.

Last 2 Xenoblade mainline games (2&3) released on the year they were revealed.

I would like that pattern to continue lol

Edit: Xenoblade DE tho had a shorter time to release from reveal to launch then 2 did.

Btw when looking up that name for the Raccoon, looked it up on wikipedia and wow, actually learning some cool stuff. There's 22 subspecies of Raccoon apparently, nice

I wonder what Nintendo will do with the Stamps & Cave of Shadows in Twilight Princess HD for Switch. Will they just cut them, since one was only used for Miiverse and the other was only accessible through an amiibo I'm sure of they won't reprint?

As in this thread tends to believe Nate more because Nate is more Nintendo focused, and is active in this thread?
Partially. Grubb has also not been the most knowledgeable about Nintendo like he is with Microsoft and others. However, he's kinda been on point this summer. He was the one who talked about there not being a general but announcements being split up into smaller bits throughout the summer. And nobody really believed him.

Grubb also kind of hedges a bit. He's more speculating rather than saying he knows, where Nate is more matter-of-fact.

True, but Grubbs words about WWHD/TPHD this past week sounded more confident, as in this is happening rather than more speculative. Grubb also usually clarifies he's speculating when doing so.

Everyone who trusts Grubb about WW/TW HD:

(I just really like this song so wanted a reason to post it here)

If Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are coming, do we expect any changes from the Wii U versions?

I'm inclined to think they'll just drop the Miiverse stuff and the games will otherwise be the same, but would love to be wrong. The Tingle bottle thing in Wind Waker was fun, and I hope they keep it there in some form (think of Mario Maker and Splatoon) instead of dropping it completely like Super Mario 3D World. Any technical improvements would also be welcome.

re: Twilight Princess 2

The Iwata Asks about that game doesn’t quite give me the impression that they were working on it in any capacity beyond story ideas for a side-story when Miyamoto always intended it to be Link’s Crossbow Training.

I really remember interviews from back in 2012 where Miyamoto reveals ideas/prototyping for both "A Link to the Past 2"(3DS) and "Twilight Princess 2(Wii U).
Back then A Link Between Worlds was in development and Ninty was in a break with console Zelda(BotW started dev in Jan 2013), so it was probably just him wondering what would please fans. Or another plan for Zelda U than BotW(like the tech demo of E3 2012).

Whew, now that the Splatoon 3 demo hype is over I can go back to the Nintendo Direct hype. Sept 1 still looking like a realistic date?
Yeah September 1st is early, but it just makes the most sense vs the other weeks. I'd say theres a fair chance this week

So Sunday is the beginning of a new week. We're finally on the week we'll get a new Direct. Also we're in the week we'll see Metroid Prime Remake. And probably a new mainline Fire Emblem.

I'll live.

Wow Monolithsoft is such a great studio... Helping on BOTW2, developing Xenoblade 3 DLC and Xenoblade 4 (and DLC) while also developing Disaster Day of Crysis 2 and a new Baten Kaitos, wow, they're really awesome

I legit had a dream that if the next direct is a general, we got GameBoy and Game Boy Advance announced with Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission being day one, along with Metroid Prime HD,with other two coming in the future, along with a short teaser trailer for Metroid Prime 4 . Boy am i going to be heartbroken if the word Metroid is not spoken at all

I can't wait for all of the videos after the Direct airs that are just beat-by-beat recaps with the bare minimum interjection of "looks cool" or "I might check it out" or "not really my thing" for every single game shown.

i imagine nintendo will be careful as to not drown the direct in metroid, which is why mp4 wont be there even if remake is.

First teaser imo will be TGA, February Direct or if we live in the worst timeline... E3 2023.

Nah the name will revolve around the hand gimmick.

The Legend of Zelda: Palm of Power
The Legend of Zelda: Digits of Destiny
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Ulna

This will finally be the Zelda game to have an edgy name in line with all of the fake leaks. "Shard of Nightmares", "Shadows of the Lost," "Blades of Blood".

I decided to vote for the 14th. It hits the sweet spot after Splatoon and after some competitor presentations, but before TGS.

It's gonna be that plus a mix of "Worst Direct Ever" or "Best Direct Ever." No in-between.
