Anyone have any recommendations for what to spend Gold Nopon coins on? I’m in chapter 5 and have never spent any so I have 95 which is dangerously close to the limit if Silver Coins are to go by.

Also any Gold Nopon Coin purchase regrets?

Edit: I spent all my coins, but still curious if the opportunity pops up again.

Gems ahoy, their cost increases along with the level though. I sometimes buy them with coin to save myself from the tedium of collecting materials.

The main problem I think you're referring to is due to the fact that

That's of course fine if you were able to fully enjoy it, but I would like to know your answers to

It looks like the ending discussion became a wild ride while I was away lol

Don't click! Spoilers inside! I quoted you without the spoilers just in case!

I won't go bullet by bullet in this thread since I think it's been decided this isn't the place and don't want to piss off the spoiler gods.

I also don't think any of my answers would really satisfy you because as many have said, the game lets you use knowledge of the world-building rules they set up, (and if you are next-level Xenoblade experts like us, knowledge from previous games) and your own interpretation to fill in the gaps, unlike the exposition dumps of earlier games. It's just going for something different.

I personally think XC3 explains what it needs to allow character moments to land perfectly and that should be what is most important. This can be the most subjective part of any story so I can see why this is landing so different for so many people.

I truly don't think this is a situation where the writers don't have answers for your questions, I just think to some degree they wanted to avoid doing what they did for past games and let fans theorize a little bit. Especially with the way Takahashi... overthinks his worlds. I also think Takahashi's note where he makes a point to say Xenoblade isn't over and makes sure to point out there are hints in this game and the expansion at where everything is headed speaks volumes. He wants us to talk together and ask questions like this! Try to figure out where it's going.

Some of your previous theorizing posts here about the ending actually helped me see things I didn't notice lol

I think that's pretty cool.

I also think I rambled too much about nothing, and truly apologize to anyone that read all this. I just really love this series.

Maybe I’ll do maxed out healing power then? I’ll never not having healing boost on my healers.

Edit: thought about it and decided to roll with level 10 Ultimate Counter for 280% counter damage.

Depression Chronicles 3. I'm gonna sleep, Its after in the morning. I am sad. Just finished Chapter 4
yep, just finished the Mio / Ethel / interlinked Moebius sequence. Was fantastic.
Striking how different in tone it is from XC2.

Kinda wish I hadn't read the last couple of pages tbh. Too many insinuations as to how things play out.

Side content spoiler

If you intend to do lots of side content… Make sure to not spend too many. I did, and I found myself regretting it. Hence why I feel the need to give you this advice.

Yeah, I just got through a certain sequence and had pieced together more than I would've liked. A lot of this discussion should've been had in the spoilers thread; people are pretty bad at recognizing how little context is needed to give something away.

Like, for an unrelated bit that I haven't seen yet...
There are literally posts that say About Ethel: and then label a spoiler as chapter 6. What on earth do you think you're doing? I haven't clicked the spoiler, but I'm pretty damn confident the important bit is not what's inside. (And please, if I'm wrong about that, don't tell me. It doesn't really matter; even if it's not what I suspect, it's irritating to think I know.)

As for a certain hyped up sequence, I wish it had just been sprung on me. I was able to work out a surprising amount of it. I was still wrong about certain aspects, and it was still overall great; but I think participating in this thread prevented it from having the weight it could've otherwise had for me. (Mind you, there was something else that's not a spoiler and was rather one of a kind to my experience (I sincerely doubt what happened to me will happen to anyone else lol) that also prevented it from having its intended impact, and I believe was the stronger of the two factors; but I'll explain that when I give my full thoughts on the matter. For now, I need sleep.)

I was really happy the early part of the game had a very minimal amount of collectathon sidequests, but they are sadly more frequent in the final stretch and there are two in particular that are just absurd.

Anyway, I hit 100 hours yesterday and I am heading towards the last sequence of the game.

Sadly already wasted my coins on the level ten counter gem. I probably should have asked earlier today, but my coin count snuck up to 99 on me quickly. Probably should have picked a different gem, but if counter damage is purple it does come up a lot at least.

A quick late game Ethel/Cammuravi question

I let LoliEthel grow up to MommyEthel and both her and Cammuravi "ascended" to level 20. I guess they don't have an ascension quest?
Do you know what the prerequisites to do this are? I read earlier that you need Taion at Rank 10 Seraph, but I've got that and still can't seem to trigger this.

I know you did it already but I just wanna chime in that I went with the level X "faster revive +heal power up" gem, burning all 99. Already was frustrated that I auto-sold 2 gold coins because a tag team of two or three UMs was in my path and I just needed one more lol

You need a rank 10 in Ethel’s class as well, along with having Cammuravi in the party upon entering Colony Omega.

Monica ascension quest spoilers

this woman got pregnant at 15, she became a widow and the City boss at 19 and now at 33 she is thinking about remarrying with her brother in law (11 years younger than her, 3 years old older than her daughter) who happened to be 4 years old when she first married.
Life ain't easy in Aionios.

Has anybody else managed to pull this off?

Did you just immediately cancel the Chain Attack lol?

do that and go to Colony Omega, there is a pod inside, go there and a cutscene will trigger. I also had Camuravi in the party.

Is there a list of possible Colony Meals and when they become available? I want to collect all of Manana-Banana's cooking.

I discovered some other ones had shown up at some colonies so I was wondering if they all have more.

So, I've been formulating my thoughts on the story for the past couple days, and:

I really don't like the story and the way it was handled.

I feel dissatisfied. And I can't blame that entirely on my hopes and expectations that I had going into it - this is how I feel even without the context of the previous two games.
There are far too many questions and loose ends for me to feel comfortable saying I like the story of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

This is my understanding of the order of events.
Most of this is derived from vague and flowery language alongside inconsistent facts and events. There are still quite some fuzzy areas, so if anybody has a magical formula that makes this all make sense, please let me know what I'm missing or have wrong.

My primary source material is the following consecutive statements from Nia, while she explained to the party the origins of Aionios and of Moebius:

Based on what we are shown and told, the order of events is as follows (as far as I can piece together):

1. The universes learn of each other - Nia, etc. (Universe A) and Melia, etc. (Universe B) discover each others existence by analyzing the rifts appearing in their respective worlds.

2. Melia and Nia learn of the collision - By sending data and radio signals (the "language of light") through these rifts, Melia and Nia were able to communicate with one another and determined that their universes were doomed and there was no way to stop their collision and ensuing destruction.

3. Melia and Nia create Origin - Melia and Nia create Origin, a supercomputer intended to persist beyond the destruction of their universes and house a "copy" of everything from both universes together in one single new universe. Everyone will still die in the collision - only the data survives and "lives" beyond.

4. Origin's boot sequence fails - At the time of the universes' collision, Origin was booted up for the first time - but it failed. The extent of its failure is unknown; we just know that it "failed".

  • The timeline of this failed boot is unclear.
  • On one hand, it must have happened before the universes' collision, because Moebius took control of Origin after its failed boot, and Moebius stopped time in both universes after he took control of Origin in order to prevent the universes' collision.
  • The only other option would be for the collision of universes, Origin attempting a boot and then failing, Moebius coming into existence, Moebius taking over Origin, and Moebius stopping time to have all happened at the same time.
  • How was Origin booted up before the universes collided?
  • Origin was created in two halves, one in either universe, which implies that the collision of the universes is what would bring both halves together and start its boot up sequence. So how could Origin boot up if its halves were in different universes?

The following events are described under the assumption that everything happens at the exact same time.

5. Moebius / X, Y, and Z appear - After (and possibly because of) Origin's failed boot sequence, an entity called Moebius springs into existence from the fears of all the life (data) contained within Origin coagulating together into fear incarnate. Moebius inexplicably takes the forms of at least three individuals, calling themselves X, Y, and Z, with Z being their "ringleader".

- The nature of X, Y, and Z in relation to Moebius is unexplained. There is no reason why a being such as Moebius would need to take these alternate forms.

6. Z takes over Origin - Z hijacks Origin in order to create his own pocket universe over which he can rule, assuaging his existence as fear incarnate.

- He also builds himself a little theater where he can watch over his creations using a film projector.

7. Z stops time to prevent the collision - Somehow, assumedly using the power of Origin, Z freezes both universes in time, preventing their progress toward their collision.

- I imagine Origin did not originally have Time Stop as one of its intended functionalities, so Z's ability to do this is completely unexplained.

8. Z creates Aionios - Now with all the time in the world, Z uses the data contained inside Origin to create his own pocket universe where time flows "naturally" as it once did in the two real universes before he stopped it. Whether this pocket universe was created around Origin or inside Origin is not sufficiently explained.

  • On one hand, Origin can be found within Aionios, making it impossible (and recursive) for Aionios to also be contained within Origin.
  • On the other hand, Origin was located in two halves, contained in the universes that were colliding, so in order for Aionios to exist "outside" Origin, it would be residing in two halves across universes that are frozen in time.

Here are some assorted questions. I'll keep adding them as I think of them.

Moebius / Z
- Why did they decide to create a villain that had no prior justification of existing in the trilogy thus far instead of tying it to the story as a whole?

Origin
- Ultimately, the world of Aionios was a simulation created using the power of Origin. So why was Origin contained inside its own universe?

The Swords
  • Was was the purpose of the Sword of Origin / Sword of the End to the story?
  • Lucky Seven was a single sword created by 7 Nopon, whereas the sword it is hidden within is Noah's manifestation that he's had in every lifetime. So is our present day Noah the only Noah that has Lucky Seven in his sword?
  • What was the significance of the Sword of Origin changing to the Sword of the End?
  • How was Noah's sword(s) significant to the final boss?

And that's without considering the story's role as a conclusion to the "Klaus saga".
I didn't need for Xenoblade 3 to connect to the first two games, and I appreciate that it did - but the way that they decided to connect the games was so tenuous, so contrived, that I can't help but feel disappointed.
The Sword of Origin and the Sword of End refer to the same thing, Lucky Seven. It is confirmed by the original Japanese subtitles' ruby annotations.

X said that N is the owner of the Sword of Origin/End in the same cutscence.Though the game didn't explain it at all as I remembered.

Just finished the game.
Be sure to have enough battery if you are playing in portable mode, the final boss is pretty long and so are the cinematics before, during and after the battle ^^.

I won’t spoil anything but I’m wanting more.

Am I missing something with this fight on Corne Island in chapter 5 or do they actually expect me to fight that many enemies at once?

I’m playing on hard mode and Moebius N is such a pain in the ass. There’s a point in the combat when he just wipes both of my healers out in a single blow and then I’m dead.

Wow the early chapter 5 cutscene had me emotional in a way I didn't expect. Seeing all the party members astounded and amazed by the baby was genuinely touching.

Played for 25 hours, early impressions:

-Locations looks really amazing and are way bigger than in the first two games

-OST is great (especially the Moebius battle theme)

-Don't really like the earsdrop mechanic for quests

-The main cast feels too shallow for now, maybe it gets better as the story goes further

-Didn't like the invisible walls in the beginning

I can’t find heavy pomegranates marked on my map, for the quest “shock to the system”! I got the other two materials collected, I’ve deactivated this quest and all, and they are not showing up on my map. :/

Help!

Check this list for the location of collectibles. It helped me a bunch in some quests.

Heavy Pomegranates are listed as appearing in the Cadensia Region (Twinpalm Isle, Prison Camp Freight Gate).

The goosebumps you get while visiting certain locations in the game is borderline surreal, holy SHIT.

I’m starting the final chapter and I think the story and world building have been uncharacteristically weak for a Xeno game. I wonder if anything will change in the final chapter. The initial premise was strong but it really hasn’t delivered much of interest.

I do think the saving grace is the game’s core cast. My favorite by far of the Xenoblades. Their relationships, bonding, and camaraderie have been mostly good. And Noah and Mio’s relationship has been strong (although strangely backburnered at this point in the game when I could have used a scene or two more).

Has anyone find the pacing kinda weird in some parts?

For example, after you sleep in the camp and the bird things steal your food ,they have you forage the area but its like: 3 steps -> cutscene > 1 monster fight > cutscene - > other 3 steps -> cutscene -> pick 3 fruits that are infront of you >cutscene > Return to the camp > cutscenes. Like, at that point just make it one longer.

Btw, I'm guessing there are only
7
chapters this time around?. Because I'm in that chapter and it does feel final.
Also is the last hero unlocked through the story or the side stories for the MCs? The only one I can think of is that
Levnis that attacks you in the forest.
Otherwise I don't know where they are.

Agreed. So many times you get a cutscene, just to walk a couple steps and get another. And I just keep thinking that I wish they combined them

Can’t find twin palm isle on the map, do you or anyone have a screenshot of where it is on Cadensia?
Someone already posted the map, but you can also get them from the fabricator as an fyi

You need to complete the Severed Connection quest in Colony 4 and the Writer’s Block quest in the City before the final Hero quest unlocks in Captocorn Peak.

Only at chapter 6 myself, but yeah; at this point even the war feels pretty distant. It was so grim in chapter 1 and somewhat 2, but that aspect is kinda gone. I'm not sure it was a good idea for every colony you come across to agree to have their flame clock destroyed as soon as you were able to get there; it made both the world feel less bleak than it's supposed to and undermined the terror of being an enemy of the only existing world powers.

I kinda figured Monolith Soft wouldn't be able to keep up such amazing world concepts forever. But while we're not on living Titans this time, something's clearly up with the physical world itself and... no one cares. It's weird. The party pretty much just calls Maktha "the woods". There's not a single mention to the buildings. Or how strange some of the remnants of the Bionis/Mechonis/XC2 titans are, not even for the literal hands you can see. No one wonders who built the Mechonis Sword, which is weird considering where you go in chapter 5.

This particular aspect is just so weird for Xenoblade. The world has always been part of the focus, even in X. But it's clear things revolve entirely around the party this time.

What’s the best use of Silver Nopon Coins once you max out at 99? I don’t wanna keep wasting them by auto-selling them, but I’ve already bought one of everything at the Nopon Coin X-Change (unless there’s another Nopon Coin X-Change that offers more that I haven’t found yet), and spending them on leveling up my Class feels like a waste, too. Are there any items from the X-Change that are good enough that I should be buying multiples of (and that can’t be obtained in other ways)?

It seems like even including the Nopon Coin X-Change, ranking up Classes for characters with D affinity is their best use.

Is there a point of no return in the final chapter?
Only entering the boss fight. And it asks you if you would like to move forward with it, so you have the opportunity.

Thanks :). Then I can just continue the story and do sidequests :D
