Switch Sports maybe but the rest of those aren't exactly the type of "family" IP I think he's referring to. Splatoon/Kirby/Pokemon are the "traditional" kind of blue ocean games but Switch Sports/Ring Fit/Everyboy's 1-2 Switch are more of the Wii era blue ocean game he seems to be referring to.
But he brings up Mario Party Superstars too, and Dream Buffet is just Mario Party but Kirby.

that was probably the plan, I guess now they will push Switch Sports/MK8DLC
Maybe all of their marketing for the year was based solely around Everybody 1-2 Switch and them deciding to maybe shelve that game is why we're currently in a state of twitter direct limbo.

The Nvidia leak suggests Drake is definitely not the 'cheapest possible' hardware and DLSS is a tried-and-true method of upscaling to 4K with great results, so they earn the right to plaster "4K capable" all over the box. Comparisons to the Steam Deck have limited utility, since the Deck is a handheld PC running mostly Windows ports through the Proton layer. I expect native Switch Advance / Ultra / 2 ports to perform better, including PS5/XSX ports. Games are very scalable and a lot of PS5/XSX games need to run on Series S and less powerful PCs, Drake has a better chance of receiving those ports than the current Switch.

Despite the leak's unsavory existence, it gives us a good starting point for speculation because it surpasses a lot of expectations ("Nintendo doesn't care about specs/will never do RT/DLSS"). I expect a high price point and a long lifespan.
As weird as this might sound

I think the Series S was the best gift Nintendo could have asked for haha

Nintendo's H2 2022 slate filling in rather nicely
I feel like there's still time to slot in maybe one or two more titles but it's a pretty stacked fall in a fairly stacked year with BotW 2 looming for hopefully a Q1/Q2 2023 release.

Plus, c'mon, evergreens. If you're a newcomer to the Swtich at this point you are absolutely spoiled for choice right now.

I think people shouldnt ignore the fact that there's a Football World Cup this year, Nintendo is very likely going to push Strikers a lot to.

Pokemon
Mario Kart 8 Wave 3
Switch Sports DLC
Strikers additional content

That covers a lot of the family friendly content - with that said, 1-2-3 Switch is probably going to drop there as well.

Nah he leaked a ton of Direct contents over the years with clever teases. Remember in 2018 or 2019 (I can't remember which specifically) he joked "what if they announce like 10 Final Fantasy games at the September Direct" and then they did exactly that.

And plenty of journalists break leaks themselves. Nate does it all the time, does that cause any issues for him or his podcast?
That was what I was referring to with his 2018 “predictions”, and it’s quite literally the only time it’s happened. He hasn’t had anything like that since.

And Nate, while awesome, doesn’t do any sort of official reviews or marketing for games. He’s a journalist, yes, but he’s much closer to someone like Schreier or Grubb than what GVG is. An outlet that covers games should not be leaking stuff if they want to have any sort of marketing deals.

Nintendo doesn't care about hardware specs. The New Switch will have the cheapest possible hardware to run games at above 1080p, so they can call it 4K capable. Don't expect it to run PS5 or Series games much better than Steam Deck. First/Second party will look awesome, they even look great on current Switch. 3rd party will still be underwhelming.
Sorry but this is rather wrong than correct…

As someone who has been going back and forth between Three Houses and Legends Arceus the past few weeks, I am shocked at how good Bayonetta 3 looks. Almost suspiciously so.
If the standard of Switch graphics was Arceus, we would be in a much worse state lol

I thought Nate did get review copies of games. And puts them up on his DirectFeedGames channel.

And I can remember Jon specifically "teased" something a few other times but I can't remember exactly what the teases were at the moment. I just know he's always been connected.

Switch Pro footage confirmed!

The funny part is that SamusHunter now will piggybacks off of Syluxhunter leaks. No one can stop her
No doubt. I waited awhile to start covering Sylux on my channel, but they finally got enough big stuff going for them to make it into my videos.

also, I sort of love how they are just trashing two "popular" "leakers" that most insiders have already said are BS.

We do this every time a new game is announced or gets new footage. Can we stop please? They're not gonna show of "pro" footage before announcing new hardware.

Many games are shown off with development PC footage, but in this case the expectation should be that this was indeed Switch footage.

Watch tomorrow we get the Pokemon trailer.

Every day a new thing to be excited for.

so nintendo’s 2nd half

  • july: live a live (west), xenoblade 3
  • august: kirby dream buffet
  • september: splatoon 3, zelda tp+ww hd
  • october: mario+rabbids 2 (japan), bayonetta 3
  • november: pokemon scarlet/violet, metroid prime remaster
  • december: everybody’s 1 2 switch
Do we have any reason to believe the Zelda ports are actually coming this year? Feels like the window is closing on that one.

Nate hasn’t uploaded a review in years, if at all, on that channel. Just gameplay from what I saw.

And while I definitely agree that Jon is connected, that doesn’t mean he’s a leaker. A tease here and there isn’t anything remotely similar to what SyluxHunter is doing.

Right but they're still made with review copies AFAIK. If he was worried his leaking would have an effect on whether he'd get review copies he wouldn't do it.

Yeah, that's true. I still think he might have been so annoying by what SH is doing that he decided to do this, but you're right that it's a bit out of character for him, at least publicly.

But this might let him do it with at least a layer of plausible deniability.

If we're at the point where every piece of new Switch game footage is (ironically | unironically) scrutinized as "possible Switch Pro footage" then perhaps we should change our baseline expectations about what current Switch hardware is capable of, 5+ years into the console's lifespan.

I'm 50/50 on it. Compared to their GC/Wii counterparts, WWHD and TPHD sold poorly on the Wii U. Yes that's probably because the Wii U was failing, but seems like a risk to put budget into them for Switch. More goes into porting and remastering than people realize.

While I don't think the New Model is directly going to target the same audience as the other Switch units, I also don't think you can have the Holiday Shopping Season fall between the announcement/release of a piece of hardware (regardless of target demo) without hurting that years' sales. I think if it's announced this year, it's out this year.
That also adds credence to Nintendo not wanting to debut anything for 2023 yet as it'll have "Pro" enhancements. And without 2023 announcements, I can see why Nintendo wouldn't want to do a general direct, especially if they're waiting for the enhanced switch before showing BOTW 2 again.

Skyward Sword HD as of March 31st: 3.91M units
There is a huge market for HD remasters/ports of Zelda games on Switch

this week has been pretty good between Pokémon leaks, Kirby's Dream Buffet and Bayonetta 3. I'm expecting Mario Kart DLC announcement tomorrow for a Friday release. Next Fridays will have Live a Live and Xenoblade 3.

A parody account to dunk on Samushunter seems pretty pointless, to me. Their guesswork last month completely failed them.

Anyone who still believes in Samushunter is either incredibly gullible or an alt.

It's getting freaking hot here over the next few days and next week.

Nintendo should totally announce the Drake (Pro/2) model with better cooling this month so i can continue playing Switch without violating Nintendo advice to not play at 35+ °C temps!

Hey, maybe I’m completely wrong here and it is Jon. Only so much you can glean from online information and interactions. I’d be incredibly disappointed if it was him, but what can you do.

Doesn’t change the fact that I’m inclined to believe it’s not him. But this discussion is clearly going nowhere so I’m just gonna drop it.

Sales
Wind Waker Gamecube = 4.43 million
Twilight Princess Gamecube/Wii = 8.85 million
Wind Waker HD Wii U = 2.33 million
Twilight Princess HD Wii U = 1.15 million

It probably took Nintendo nearly 3 years to port and remaster Skyward Sword to Switch. (Eiji Aonuma teased it in November 2018, it launched July 2021.) Also, if the two games were to be coming soon, the sales data of SSHD would most certainly not be a factor in deciding whether or not to port and possibly further enhance WW/TP for Switch.

August seems like a prime candidate for both the next wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC and Kirby's Dream Buffet. This week might be spoken for with Pokémon Puzzle League on the N64 app, Live-A-Live is next week, and Xenoblade 3 is the week after.
They can announce Wave 2 for tomorrow, or Friday, and shadowdrop it.

Or they can do that any day. It's previously-announced DLC.
