August seems like a prime candidate for both the next wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC and Kirby's Dream Buffet. This week might be spoken for with Pokémon Puzzle League on the N64 app, Live-A-Live is next week, and Xenoblade 3 is the week after.
yeahh this month might get real boring

Nintendo doesn't care about hardware specs. The New Switch will have the cheapest possible hardware to run games at above 1080p, so they can call it 4K capable. Don't expect it to run PS5 or Series games much better than Steam Deck. First/Second party will look awesome, they even look great on current Switch. 3rd party will still be underwhelming.
hmm I don't think this actually lines up with what we actually already know?

Nintendo Directs don't exist and have never existed. They are a collective delusion stemming from the Animal Crossing City Folk E3 presentation.

To predict a release date of a Nintendo game of we know that it is coming, isn‘t actually that hard. It is always a friday and october was always the likeliest month for Bayonetta 3 because of Halloween.

so nintendo’s 2nd half

  • july: live a live (west), xenoblade 3
  • august: kirby dream buffet
  • september: splatoon 3, zelda tp+ww hd
  • october: mario+rabbids 2 (japan), bayonetta 3
  • november: pokemon scarlet/violet, metroid prime remaster
  • december: everybody’s 1 2 switch

Now every single day is going to be a roller coaster ride, isn't it? I love it.

My heart says Silksong would look pretty good in that December slot. I know it's not Nintendo, but still...

So where are we standing with Mugiwara? Looks like they are the false pirate king.
Well I'm not sure how much standing you can do with someone who lacks organs

Anyways pretty sure they're a troll account made to mock insiders (maybe specifically Nate) by getting people to believe them and then saying how easy it was to do that. But that's just my guess

so is anyone else beginning to think that the Metroid Prime remake that insiders keep mentioning that was coming this year- is a) either been pushed or b) doesn't exist?
I don't think anyone who actually pays attention would ever think it doesn't exist. It's not a release that needs a huge "hype window" (aka, the time between announce and release) so it could easily show up in a September Direct, and then come out in November/December.

Nah, there is still a chance for a fall direct where it (along with Drake Switch perhaps) could be announced.

So, my assumption is that Nintendo didn't want to do a general direct as they don't want to show anything for 2023 specifically because those games will have some connection to the inevitable next Switch (Whatever you would call it), so they're doing piece meal twitter drops until they do announce the next Switch. My guess being around September is when they'll reveal if its dropping late this year or early next year (Possibly alongside BOTW 2).

Nate shut them down when they first started their nonsense. I wonder if they went too deep when creating their fake leaks that they started to believe it themselves. Now they are organless and we are Switch Advanceless

If that's the case, then, sure. I don't follow her so I haven't seen any toxicity (not going to ask for prove as it would be pointless). Still doesn't make it right, I don't know. Twitter is such an easy place for any toxic behaviour to flow. Just ignore her, if people trust their fake leaks I think that's on them.
Samushunter and others like Markomaro call themselves "leakers" but in reality only really post things people want to hear, which then gets them attention and followers. When the stuff those people want to hear doesn't happen, they come up with plausible (not really, but if you're desperate maybe) excuses, and those followers get even more ingrained into this belief that they're legit.

Then when actual journalists like Jason Schreier or Imran report something these people put them on the same level- or worse- than fakers like Samushunter and Markomaro and give them shit like death threats when they report on things these people don't want to hear. This is the main issue- this behavior actively creates an air of excessive hostility towards actual, real journalism by likening it to this fake twitter nonsense.

And that behavior absolutely deserves to be called out and hopefully squashed.
The only thing he ever leaked at GX were direct dates (and he did that through Era alongside a few other people, not GX) and that one direct where his predictions were suspiciously way too accurate, which he never claimed as a leak. Beyond that, nothing.

Typically, the people who first report on leaks are not review outlets. It’s one thing to be the leaker yourself, it’s another to simply cover a leak going around.

And, once again, it flies directly in the face of his own video he created this year. And if he’s trying use that as a cover, then he’s doing a spectacularly terrible job to the point where I refuse to believe he’s that dumb.
Nah he leaked a ton of Direct contents over the years with clever teases. Remember in 2018 or 2019 (I can't remember which specifically) he joked "what if they announce like 10 Final Fantasy games at the September Direct" and then they did exactly that.

And plenty of journalists break leaks themselves. Nate does it all the time, does that cause any issues for him or his podcast?
How many sales do you think they will lose by announcing the console one month earlier? They can’t even cover demand yet, I don’t think the sales lost would have any impact on Nintendo’s financials
Yeah I don't personally see it being an issue but it feels like something so ingrained into Nintendo's culture that they probably would naturally expect a decline in sales in absolutely any scenario.

Based on the verified leaks from the Nvidia hack we know this is not true.

While I don't think the New Model is directly going to target the same audience as the other Switch units, I also don't think you can have the Holiday Shopping Season fall between the announcement/release of a piece of hardware (regardless of target demo) without hurting that years' sales. I think if it's announced this year, it's out this year.

I could see either a new N64 NSO roadmap or the return of them announcing the next game when the last released when PPL/CR drop Thursday night

Yes Nintendo doesn't care about the specs, but they do about price.
It's not like they go out fo their way to say "yeah we wanna be this much more underpowered compared to our competitors".
If Ada is the most afforable option for what they want to do then they will take it.

But thinking they make their hardware weaker for the sake of being weaker is just a weird take.

People dismissing verified leaks with their gut feeling and personal beliefs is always funny to look at. NGL.

I mean things could change but acting like Nintendo doesn't care for specs while the Switch itself was a really great high-end product for 2017 is just hilarious.

Feel like Pokemon, Kirby, Kart DLC, and to an extent Splatoon have that angled covered. As does Mario + Rabbids.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Splatoon, Kirby Dream Buffet, and Pokemon already have that spot covered? Alongside continued sales of MK8D DLC and Switch Sports.
Yeah, this, basically. Throw in the possibility of 1-2 Switch 2 and there's plenty to cover those bases.

Given Emily, Nate, and then Jeff all went to bat for it, and given Retro Studios definitely finished something last September, I'm inclined to believe it exists.

Release date is anyone's guess, but right now we're seeing Nintendo experiment with their reveal/release strategy without E3 to anchor things. We can't rule out a reveal out the blue for a release somewhere in the October through December window.

Switch Sports maybe but the rest of those aren't exactly the type of "family" IP I think he's referring to. Splatoon/Kirby/Pokemon are the "traditional" kind of blue ocean games but Switch Sports/Ring Fit/Everyboy's 1-2 Switch are more of the Wii era blue ocean game he seems to be referring to.

It also doesn’t fit Nintendo trend of trying to make things as easy as possible to 3rd party devs so they give Nintendo both exclusive content and ports of multiplatform releases. If more power allows this and they can afford it (which they seem they can according to Nvidia leak) they will do so

A lot of people will look at the Switch's power in 2017 and think weird things like "it wasn't as powerful as PS4/Xbox One" or "wow it could barely do 1080p" while forgetting the thing was the size of a very small tablet and cost 300 dollars (while including controllers, the dock, etc.)

It seems Nintendo really enjoys sitting on DK. I wonder if DK enjoys it too.

The Nvidia leak suggests Drake is definitely not the 'cheapest possible' hardware and DLSS is a tried-and-true method of upscaling to 4K with great results, so they earn the right to plaster "4K capable" all over the box. Comparisons to the Steam Deck have limited utility, since the Deck is a handheld PC running mostly Windows ports through the Proton layer. I expect native Switch Advance / Ultra / 2 ports to perform better, including PS5/XSX ports. Games are very scalable and a lot of PS5/XSX games need to run on Series S and less powerful PCs, Drake has a better chance of receiving those ports than the current Switch.

Despite the leak's unsavory existence, it gives us a good starting point for speculation because it surpasses a lot of expectations ("Nintendo doesn't care about specs/will never do RT/DLSS"). I expect a high price point and a long lifespan.

The problem is that people unfairly compare the Switch to home consoles instead of 2017 mobile hardware.

Ehh, Splatoon and Pokémon don’t fit into that category at all. He’s talking about a game you play with your kid and parents(not necessarily together). A shooter and RPG are far from that.

Yeah I just don't see any way that Sylux Hunter is Jon Cartwright.

Jon doesn't strike me as someone that actively vindictive towards others (even though it's arguably warranted in these cases).

I think the Twitter account creation date is just a coincidence, probably as that's the time most people were estimating a new Direct was on the horizon anyway.
Or its his "DarkJon" account lmao
