Nintendo has no loyalty to TGS in fact if anything it has always gone against it the only reason for Directs being close to TGS are 3rd party partners, a 1st party Direct doesn't have to be in Sept or close to TGS.

They generally like to take that opportunity to detail their early 2023 games though.

If they don't have a Direct in September when would they do that?

Yeah but why are we expecting a first party direct?
Just because they did a third party direct it doesn't mean that a first party one is next.
It looks like the only thing we're getting is Twitter drops and specific game directs for the summer, after that we could get a classic general direct in September and everything back to normal.

The thing about Twitter drops is that a large contingency of people will be disappointed by every announcement. If we get Bayonetta the Pokémon people will be bummed, if we get Pokémon the Mario Kart people will be bummed, and even if we got hardware somehow all three would be bummed.

The Twitter announcement scheme has an interesting trade-off: you get more engagement and less questioning of the quality of the overall presentation while losing the ability to excite most fans at once.

Only way there will be no 1st party Direct would be if Nintendo isn't releasing any unannounced game Sept-Nov which would be surprising to say the least. (Kirby was a eShop game only they have twitter dropped them before)
 
tbh a Lite OLED would absolutely be a Twitter drop, probably no trailer or video asset to go with it. I don’t even think they’d change the shell much, maybe just a new colour. It’d be like “Nintendo Switch Lite consoles will now come with an OLED screen!”

I'm excited to hear Mario Circuit SNES in the Mario Kart 8 style

it might end up being one of my favorite music tracks in the OST
 
I predict that Nintendo licensed Godzilla so we finally get a good game with him again instead of all those weird CoD events and stuff.

Nintendo would do better to get Gamera. He’s the friend of all children, which is much more Nintendo’s style.

Ok ok actually both are gonna be in Bayonetta 3 cause it's basically a Kaiju game now anyway.

Game Builder Garage was 3-4 different decisions and maybe a console-power upgrade away from literal all-time greatness
