I know people like to go on about Nate “not having first party sources” which isn’t even true. But he still hasn’t said a word of any direct coming (or any other insider). I don’t believe we’re getting a Mini or General Direct this week. It’s way too quiet for a direct. To me it’s hardware (where it’s so locked down Nate wouldn’t find out) or just some twitter drops.

I'd believe twitter drops for next week were it not for the mysterious clearing of this coming week. Not just the Splatoon tourney but the.. what was it, previews for Xenoblade came out earlier than normal, and something else I think?

Anyway I'm kinda expecting nothing big but still looking at the "evidence" like:

Probably a (live) demo with gameplay showing combat and stuff. Maybe it gets uploaded on their french YouTube Channel later.
 
I'm all in on expecting a Splatoon 3 testfire announcement next week, happening on the weekend. That seems the most obvious thing to me.

They don’t need their employees to be hard at work to lift Xenoblade previews next week, but they bumped them earlier anyway. This wasn’t a “break,” this was a clearing of the way for something.
 
Yeah, there definitely seems to be something happening this week, regardless of what it actually ends up being. And, to be fair, there have been a few rumblings of some kind of Direct happening this month, even if these rumblings aren't very confident. We've had both Nate and Jeff Grubb speculate about some kind of event potentially happening in July, and Peer from IGN said he heard about a Direct in his podcast.

Hmm. Thinking about Waluigi Pinball, it shares a song with Wario Stadium, which is already in 8. 8 went out of its way to avoid tracks sharing the same song - even Mario Kart Stadium and Mario Circuit, which share the same base melody, are very different tracks in execution. I hope they make a very different sounding remix for Waluigi Pinball.

Every track is gonna look pretty bad when compared to the base game tracks. Tokyo Blur vs. Toad Harbor is gross.

The minimalism of Sky Garden helps or a lot, as there isn’t much detail work that needs to be done. Considering that’s the worst aspect of the BCP, it ends up being my favorite looking track of the first wave by a pretty wide margin.

I missed this earlier today. It came out 2 months into my PhD... which I graduated from 4 years ago. Now I'm a postdoc in a different country. Hoo boy. Time sure is a thing.

Wait, what? Wasn't he referring to the partner mini direct?
