Cleared three more Classic Mode routes on intensity 9.9 tonight: Pikachu's, Sonic's, and Sephiroth's. Fewer than 30 Classic Mode routes left to go!

Are we pumped/very optimistic for Monday morning or are we looking at a different week?
I don't think we'd hear anything on Monday morning regardless of whether or not there'll be something next week, but I guess it did just happen with the Partner Showcase. But someone mentioned earlier that they don't tend to announce things on the anniversary of Iwata's death, which is this upcoming Monday.

I really want to know ifs Halo is still coming to Switch (Or Switch 2/Pro) still.

@NateDrake hinted at it a couple years ago, but still nothing.
We got Persona 5 rotal and Ezio collection years after being rumored. And still no sight of Tomb Raider and Call of Duty despite the rumors (Zell himself hinted Tomb Raider).

Halo games are notoriously difficult to port. If the ports are real, we probably won't get them until very late into Switch's life.

Nothing's gonna happen on Monday because July 11 is the anniversary of the passing of Mr. Iwata. It's been said by Kit and Krysta that the company considers that date off-limits for announcements and such. Tuesday at the absolute earliest.

What’s the earliest we’d see a Splatoon 3 Direct?
I’m starting to wonder if next week is possible if they want an earlier test fire. Would be a reasonable explanation for why you take a break for the Splatoon tournament. Everyone gets hyped up for the new thing and gets refreshed for the back half. Otherwise first full week of August maybe. It’d be a month out then.

uuugghhhh it's gonna be such a long damn weekend waiting for next week to come so that we can finally have Raccoon amping up his hypemonger character again

This has been the rough timeline I’ve been most kicking around for the next good while.

This coming week - first party software showcase that leads into drops of treehouse videos. Mario Kart Wave 2 tracks drop at the end of the week.

Next Week - Live A Live
Following Week - Xenoblade 3

First full week of August - Splatoon 3 Direct.

Back half of August - Indie World

September / October - Full Nintendo Direct

October - Drake reveal, early 2023 launch close to Breath of the Wild 2 (mirrors the Switch reveal and launch. Drake is positioned as gen 2 Switch with a large cross gen period)

December - Indie World

I know people have been going very hard on Drake for this year, but I still don’t see it even though I acknowledge it as possible. There isn’t an obvious big showcase title for it, lots of games have tons of extended DLC support lined up, I think it would distract from Pokemon, and if it hasn’t started big production yet they won’t have a meaningful supply for the holiday for a device that will just immediately sell out whenever it launches. There’s little real pressure to launch Drake this year with minimal upside. If it happens, cool, I’ll buy it day one no questions asked. I’ve literally wanted a better Switch since launch day since the original model is just shy of true perfection, but yeah I don’t feel it is coming just yet.

Okay I’ve avoided the elephant in the room long enough,

Hey fellow Canadians! How’s your internet doing;’)
Got it back roughly 3 hours after you posted. Having rogers everything hit hard lol couldn't even text or call anyone. Still way better than those days without power about a month ago. That was brutal. Among other things, spent the day finishing Great Ace Attorney! Great game!

I’m hoping the Tomb Raiders are more likely now that Embracer owns it.

Embracer said they're planning to make $300m on re-releases alone in 2 years before launching a new title. That's clearly given, sounds pretty hard to hit that number without Switch.

Not only Tomb Raider, but Legacy of Kain, Gex, Kane & Lynch and Deus Ex too.

Can we please get Wind Waker HD this year? Really started to miss this game for the last 1-2 weeks.

It's time to go back to the basics and start posting fake 4ch direct leaks

Fake purely bc the date. If it's happening on Tuesday, when do they announce it? There is 0 chance they announce anything on Monday.

The problem with revealing Drake this year for a 2023 launch is that it would basically be shooting any Christmas switch sales in the foot. Not many people are going to buy any of the existing switch models if they know a new one is releasing in a couple of months. In fact, they'd probably want Christmas to be where they dump all the non drake stock to make way for Drake later.

It's why I keep doubting a 2022 unveiling of Drake, pretty much. It would not make any sense unless they do want to release this year, and a release this year makes very little sense.

I don’t think it’s a huge issue mainly because open world Pokemon is going to carry this holiday hard. If the price of the Drake is as high as people are guessing ($450-$500), I think the $300 Switch will still have appeal. Also there will be less grumpy customers than say if the reveal is in January or something. Regretting an ill informed holiday gift seems like a bad call. I’m operating off the late 2022, early 2023 info with floating dev kits to be clear. I think they have the momentum to ride for a while if they wanted to release it later in 2023, but it seems to be coming sooner than later. If it is this year, next week or early August seem ideal for the reveal.

They told us they can't reveal the name yet cause it could spoil stuff, so I'm going with:

The Legend of Zelda: Link dies in this one

Yeah, I was team Spring 23, and still am, but the more I think about it, while also knowing I'm setting myself up for disappointment, fall 22 would also make sense. Given that they can actually produce enough before that of course.
They don't really have any games to go with the release (unless Metroid Prime remake was ported to the new engine and uses MP4 assets, which is possible and would also explain why they haven't announced it yet), but they also don't need any. Switch 2/Pro is going to easily sell 3M without any games, so it will be sold out for Christmas regardless, and probably enough parents will miss out and decide to buy a discounted Switch 1 instead. Then in the new year they can hype people up for BOTW2, leading to another 2M selling out quickly, and if they have another 3-4M ready by March for the launch of BOTW2, they're really going to hit the ground running with the new Switch. Conversely, if they launch together with BOTW2 and it's sold out for three months straight after that, they lose that BOTW2 momentum.

Several people in this topic dispute the fact that a new, significantly more powerful switch with exclusive games would render the tX1 based models obsolete. If that logic is to be followed, announcing Drake in 2022 for a 2023 release should not completely tank the Christmas sales, as tx1 switches would still be viewed as a desirable machine rather than an outdated one.

I must say that I largely disagree with this position. I believe that the new model will make the old ones obsolete as the gap in power is too large; possibly more than a full generation like PS4-->PS5. And I also believe that they won't release it in 2022 nor early 2023.

The spirit of Souls is probably the dumbest name I’ve heard this year.

They saw the leaks and thought, yup. That’s it. We’ll use two words that are used essentially the same usage.

The most believable part was that he didn’t recognize any 3rd parties stuff cause Nintendo fans don’t play any 3rd party games. Meta

It's one game, and ostensibly a pretty basic sequel to the previous launch title. The first open world Pokémon, along with the rest of a busy fall, would be a lot more exciting for a more powerful model
It could launch with Pilotwings 64 4K remaster as the only 1st party launch title and still would sell out, dont think it matters that much what releases with the console as it does which games get upgrades and how they get it plus the support of the console during it’s first year
