For those interested, here's some third party Switch games we might see at tomorrow's Xbox Showcase:
  • Hollow Knight Silksong (via Snitch and Nate)
  • Persona 3 and/or 4 and/or 5 (via various)
  • Goldeneye 007 (via Xbox leaks)
  • Overwatch 2 (via Snitch, apparently it's going Free-to-Play)
  • Banjo Kazooie (via MVG and Nate, BUT it's probably Xbox exclusive. I'm just throwing this in here because you never know)
It's worth keeping an eye on even if you're not a Xbox user.
 
Silksong is happening, 007 and Banjo and Kazooie maybe. People are very u sure of Banjo. What if we get gameplay?

Those were all pretty well done tbh, I just feel they sorta blend together. I’d like to see something unique is all.

It's 100% going to be the year Persona 4 and 5 come to Switch because Xenoblade 3 is also coming out this year and that also means that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters will launch on Switch this year too.

Mostly to guarantee that I have to spend time complaining about there being too many RPGs.

I said "most", not "all". Obviously BotW2 doesn't fall into that category, but I really doubt we'll get a true Mario sequel (Odyssey 2, Galaxy 3, etc.) for this current console.

I believe they will want to save their most new/innovative ideas for the games that will come out with the new system.

I never said budget releases.

And yeah, they will keep supporting the Switch just like they supported all their other consoles after a new one came out. Nintendo always says they will support the old console once the new one comes out, but the reality is that new games/sequels with new tech and engines are mostly developed for the new console, not the old one.

I guess what I wanted to say with my original post is that don't expect megaton announcements from here on out. Don't expect a 2022/2023 Direct to announce a new Smash, a new Mario Kart, Mario sequels, BotW3, etc. for the Switch. All the megaton stuff will be saved for the next console, which hopefully comes in 2023 and not later.
 
I don’t get why so many remakes or unreal engine fan remakes of games from the n64/ps1 era they always change the daytime to sunset or early sunrise.

like, just make it day time like the game originally was lol.

The thrilling conclusion to the Chinese Donkey Kong trademark saga is finally here; it's the end of one mystery and the start of another!

One of the potential outcomes I was speculating about ended up being correct; the Donkey Kong and Peach trademarks were almost certainly filed for the upcoming Mario film. Not only did Battle League stick with the cast's existing localised names (debunking that potential explaination that was suggested here), but very recently they trademarked the names for the rest of the announced cast for the film, which seems fairly conclusive to me.

Quick comparison of their current names and what was in recent weeks; about half have remained the same but the rest are new localisations.

You are gonna get P4G on PS4/XBS and a comment from ATLUS on how the Switch doesn’t have the audience for Persona games.

That is the closest Mario character name to it, but it’s a pretty far out there character to pick for the movie (the Luma shop owners from Galaxy) and would mean they’re abandoning the current translation for Luma that sticks to the Japanese name (which would be inconsistent with Bowser, Toad and the newly localized Foreman Spike).

the funniest scenario is persona 3, 4 and 5 and the pixel remasters all skipping switch and launching exclusively on xbox.

I'm definitely excited. Some good things tomorrow plus the other random shows soon (like the FF stream) will be enough to tide me over until the Direct happens. Hell I'll be excited if even one of those happens! (well, except for Overwatch 2, that's kind of whatever)

Woah...what's the source on this? If it's closer to 3 years than 2 years, I honestly might even prefer they just hold off. This is either going to be a fairly intensive remake or a new game from the sound of that development time.

I suggest listening to the podcast. This is mostly speculation and not rumor. MVG did say he’s heard some rumblings from developer types but there isn’t anything concrete.

I listened to the podcast and remember MVG's comments, but I must've somehow missed the 2-3 year comment if that's where it came from. Unless you're saying the 2-3 years is the speculative part.

It wasn't a real window of expectation. It was a throwaway comment -- just to imply the game isn't coming in the immediate, so if the game is not announced this weekend that people don't need to panic. The game can be announced in a yr or whenver.

I really hope Persona will stop being a Sony exclusive.
My main desire is for Persona 6 to release on PC at day1 (I don’t want to buy a PS5 only for a game lmao)

…but P4G on switch? Omg. I’ll buy it again and again. My favorite game😭

I happened to stop by Era just to stalk the Xbox thread, and you still have people in there misattributing "false promises" to Nate from years ago as if Bloomberg, Grubb, etc. weren't all hearing the same things. Even if they were his inaccurate judgments (which he always owns up to), it's so unhealthy to essentially keep a running list of someone's track record. It's like the unironic version of the "insider tier list" meme here on Fami
 
Yo Nate, what's this about Silksong I hear? I thought only Snitch was hinting towards it. I'm staying cautiously optimistic, but it would be nice to get some reassurance

Regarding Persona

I also hope that they’ll release a remaster/remake of P1 and P2s
Tbh I tried playing P1 and that encounter rate was so annoying.
A port of the psp version with a way to lower the encounter rate would be good too

If Banjo is real it has quite the nostalgia factor to fill, I wonder if anyone is up to that task so many years later. If the previews would look good I'd buy an XBox just to play it. I remember vouching year after year for that game to take shape and now 5000 years later I'm old and cranky and can't get so much happiness from the idea anymore. Maybe that'll change
