I'm not that interested in Banjo tbh, but any news regarding Persona on Xbox and/or Switch would make me extremely hyped. I wonder if Atlus will prefer to announce these projects at their own presentations, though.

From what MVG and Nate know, it sounds like a Banjo-Kazooie project is in active development for sure. It's just a matter of when Xbox decides to show it off. I'm also really, really hoping it's tomorrow. The first game is one of my all-time favorites.

EDIT: The man himself beat me to the punch lol

And keep in mind what MVG said: he heard this at GDC from other devs.

Did you see Tom Henderson said Avowed won’t be there? 😞 I wanted to see it after you talked about it

I'm hoping he's wrong. The game is coming next year. I saw the game last summer. I want people to see this damn thing.

Sony marketing deals for what we know thanks to the Capcom leak usually imply one year of the game not being on sub services of Sony competition, that is why I think it would be weird.
Also they showed the game on SFG, if Xbox had a deal why they wouldnt wait to show it on Xbox event where it probably have more time? (it had sub 50 sec in SFG)
that agreement with RE8 was global, SH2 is regional.

At most it would prevent it from going out in gamepass in Japan day 1.

and not all agreements are the same so who knows.

Learn the difference between prediction/speculation and inside information.

Prime Trilogy -- this has been explained a dozen times.

Mario 3D All Stars unlikely to launch so close to announcement due to Japan Pre-order rules (which was absolutely 100% fake, btw, they don't have any restrictions like that) -- which was speculation due to timing.

Chrono Cross as a PS5 exclusive -- this was wrong.

KT are too busy on a new main FE to make warriors 2 (Warriors 2 is this month) -- when was this ever said? KT/IS are making a new mainline FE & all the info I've shared will be confirmed in time. And I said I wasn't aware of FEW2 being in development.

And I owned up to any misses. So kindly take your dismissive attitude elsewhere. Don't like rumors? Don't read them or engage with them. You people create false narratives to push your misguided agenda.
You're alot nicer to these gremlins than I ever could or would be.

I'm almost scared and excited beyond belief to see what a Banjo-Threeie in 2022 would even LOOK like. I think, whether we see it tomorrow or at a later event, it just feels likely to be remakes to test the waters, excite the fanbase, and get eyes on Xbox's commitment to quality exclusive titles.

If Nintendo direct is late, there should be an ambassador program for all the fami who turned up on time, like early access to a game beta of our choice or we get to design one NPC for BotW2

I don’t see Nintendo green lighting a sequel to a failure like Ever Oasis. 2D Zelda is due for a brand new game. Mercury Steam did Samus Returns to Metroid Dread. I could see Grezzo getting experience for 2D Zelda to try a new one.
Speaking of Grezzo and MercurySteam, MS have worked on Metroid 2, so Grezzo should work on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. A full on remake with complete overhaul of the gameplay / exploration.

Honestly, long before 2019, I thought the next 3D Zelda game would be a Zelda 2 à la Breath of the Wild : freely explore another massive version of Hyrule, jump everywhere, use various spells, learn new sword techniques… but I’m still very, very hyped for BotW 2.

I feel like, just like Metroid 2, Zelda 2 is the « weird » one that tried something else (like a lot of « 2s » in gaming ; Castlevania 2, Zelda 2, Metroid 2, Final Fantasy 2, and then the third game is a complete return to the original gameplay with improvements (Castlevania 3, Zelda ALTTP, Super Metroid, FF III with the jobs and no weapon / magic / stat improvement à la Elder Scrolls, back to the basic XP system).

Release Super Mario Odyssey 2.

I’d be happy with a full remake of Zelda 2

The only thing I « could » ask @NateDrake is for a new Turrican game but… I’m already aware of this so I won’t.

Basically Julian Eggebrecht said that after the Turrican Anthologies and when Epic will let them breath with Fortnite, he said that he want to make a new 2D Turrican in pixel art with a gameplay style like Turrican 2 (Amiga) and not the more arcade console games. He would love to include a level editor inspired by Super Mario Maker that players could then share.

That sounds like a dream to me so you bet I’ll scope everything related to Factor 5 / Epic Games Cologne and the studios who worked on the Anthologies (ININ Games & Ratalaika Games).

But from the sound of it you both are quite sure as well something Banjo related is in development at Xbox right?

Also do you mean MVG heard this from Xbox devs or from other devs who know Xbox employees?

here's how I see the rest of the year playing out

July - Live A Live, Xenoblade 3
August - Advance Wars, Everybody's 1-2 Switch via NSO Expansion Pack
September - Splatoon 3, Metroid Prime HD
October - Bayonetta 3, maybe Zelda ports
November - Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, an unannounced game for the holiday (not as big as 3D Mario but something like DK or Pikmin)
December - Mario + Rabbids 2

A Zelda 2 remake would actually be super amazing. I’ll bet they would drop the “Zelda II” name and just go with Adventure of Link or something though.

Zelda 2 remake with animated visuals that resemble the 80s promotional art and an option to play as pink haired lady Link that that one Japanese magazine invented.

I have heard on my own sources that a Banjo is in development.

I do not know who MVG heard from. What he said in the podcast is all I know from his side.

A remake or "Zelda II-2" sequel has been one of my long-seated desires since time forgot.

Make whatever modernization and QoL changes you need, I'd just want it to maintain that same degree of challenge, otherwise!

I'm sure Microsoft decided to greenlight a new game/remake after the hype around Banjo and Kazooie in Smash lol
I am convinced that without smash we would not have seen a new game

Maybe, just, maybe, it will be on Switch and Xbox?!
I have a weird history with this, so it might happen.

If you asked me a few years ago which XBOX exclusives I wanted to see the most on the Switch, I would have said: Ori 1, Ori 2, and Cuphead. Well, look at where those games ended up appearing.

Why are you all scaring me with Direct mini talk?
Prime HD, WWHD, and updates on games already in the pipeline, as well as DLC could easily be crammed into a mini, just look at how much was packed into the 2018 one (although I think Nate confirmed a general so if you trust him there’s no need to worry)

At the very least, tomorrow has a ton of potential and should be interesting. I'm looking forward to a more normal-ish show for not-E3

For one second I couldn‘t find this thread as one of the first few entires of the forum list and I really thought that I‘m the only Nintendo Fan left in the world. But then I saw the thread and felt so relieved that I am now starting to wonder if I need any help.

Nobody here actually likes Nintendo games. They just happen to host three presentations a year that give us a convenient excuse to shitpost.

If nothing else I think they would still just call it a Direct and maybe make it a little shorter. You can always pad things out with giving a game like Bayonetta 3 10 minutes instead of 5 or whatever too.

Minis and Partner Showcases just aren’t as well received and I don’t think they got as much attention.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm not super into most of the announced games for this FY, but I feel hopeful that we will get plenty of unannounced and even some unrumored surprises, like we usually do. Plenty of surprises over the past year of announcements alone, from Kirby to Advance Wars.

Look at it this way: Although some were rumored, sure, before the February 2022 Direct a few months ago we didn't have any of these officially announced:

  • Advance Wars
  • Xenoblade 3
  • Mario Strikers
  • FE Three Hopes
  • Chrono Cross remaster
  • Live a Live
  • Front Mission remake
  • Switch Sports
(probably more I'm forgetting)

That's a lot of stuff that hadn't been announced at all! And most of it coming out this year!

These fan film recreations I personally think have been awesome:

Banjo-Kazooie:

Banjo-Tooie:

Banjo-Threeie:

People will joke about the "Nintendo! Hire this man" stuff but personally I think these look great and obviously I would expect even better from a company like Microsoft but these are still cool projects. They literally remade every single map in the first two games in Unreal Engine. It's just really cool to see as a long time fan.

Not sure if the next Banjo project will come to Switch or the next system or remain on the Xbox but it's still cool that we could maybe be getting something new in the franchise in the future.

nah I don't think so, Microsoft will probably use Banjo as a bait to attract Nintendo gamers to the Xbox ecosystem
They have tried this many times in the past and failed with every one of those. Most recently with Battletoads (though Perfect Dark Zero was more embarrassing). The audience for those games are unlikely to buy Xbox for these games alone and I think, after Battletoads, if me MS is funding something like Banjo, they have something else in their minds.

My guess is, they're not funding the game, but licensing it out to someone for a multiplat project. Someone like Playtonic, who's been working on something for quite a while now.
