The Tartarus sections donā€™t hold up well, yeah. Also P3 has the most beautiful story but the worst narrative between P3-P5 imho.

The first part of the game is more of a ā€œwe are doing all this because someone else told us to, we donā€™t know whyā€ and tbh I understand the idea behind this but as soon as you hit October the game starts to rush a lot of plot points.

It needs a remake because they have to make Tartarus more bearable (atm itā€™s worse, A LOT WORSE, than the original Mementos) and to change the narrative a bit. The plot points are okay, but some of them have to appeared in the first part of the game imo

(Just to be clear, I LOVE the game, even if they donā€™t do anything itā€™s still a very good game. It will just be a shame to not make it the masterpiece it can be)
 
Mainline Persona on Switch really sounds like a heavily surreal fever dream. I cannot believe we might see that come to fruition this month.

Anecdotal, Iā€™m usually a Nintendo system only guy, but when Battletoads was announced, that plus all the other Rare games in gamepass
I went and got an Xbox Series as well.

Sure, but it's worth mentioning that BotW announcement trailer was in-game footage, and we've had in-game footage since then. I'm not really blaming MS for this, by the way, it's only to be expected after making a bunch of acquisitions. They wanna show off what all their new teams are working on ASAP for all the reasons that people have mentioned, but its gonna be sometime before those teams have anything tangible to show, and the same could definitely be true for Banjo.

Yeah the mainline persona games had some controversial stuff particularly the fact that in persona 5 you can date your adult teacher ( the protagonist is 15 ) but you can't be gay lol

Funnily enough the first arc was about dealing with a predatory teacher who takes advantage of his students

I mean, i get it. This would be the first time ever mainline Persona games would come to the Switch. But Nate talked about Persona 4 Golden on Switch in the beginning of the year. Now there are leakers talking about Persona, one of them explicitly mentioning Persona on Switch. The pieces are lining up.

When this many people are talking then I take it as itā€™s happening. The YouTube video is a real thing. Nobody can make that up. The one poster on Era who said Persona was coming some while back said itā€™s coming to Switch too.


Thatā€™s good enough for me. I now wait for the announcement.

(On a side note, this actually makes it worse.)

As to Grezzo, I have said it before, but I hope they get to work on a new game. It kind of made me laugh when I saw someone say that they're too good for Miitopia and should work on the Oracle games instead. So another remake? lol They've shown to be perfectly capable to make new games, whether it's working on the Zelda IP or their own, so let them have a go at it.

As to Persona, I kind of stopped caring. The time to bring any game over was around Joker's inclusion in Smash. If a game or several games are to release this year, I'd pass, as there's enough releasing in 2022 as is. Not to mention the controversial way in which LGBT issues seem to be handled in those games.

Honestly my issue with Persona is that the Atlus formula has become boring to me, SMT V was amazing but after that I feel like I have already played too many Atlus games to play another 80h+ experience that I have already played before a dozen times. Maybe Re:Fantasy is different tho (or the games were shorter)

There's a fun mix of both between all three. They released a decade apart, yet Persona 3 and Persona 5 both follow the mindset that queer people are sexual predators trying to trick and mislead the innocent; with a trans woman in the former and a gay couple in the latter preying on the male party members. They "only" appear in one or two scenes (as if that's any consolation), but Persona 4 makes up for that by featuring homophobia prominantly in Kanji's story arc and his interactions with Yosuke, and using very intentional trans-coded imagery and subject matter with Naoto to depict gender nonconformity as lying to yourself and being someone you aren't.

At least with Hashino moving away from the series to work on Re:Fantasy there's a chance Persona 6 can do better without him; since Catherine (especially Fullbody) did this stuff too it's safe to say he's the root cause of it sneaking in every time. Just a shame that the series managed to regress from Persona 2: Innocent Sin, where the protagonist is bi and can become "Lovers" (in-game term, even) with one of the male party members; treated the same as the available female options.
 
I have zero faith in Atlus just announcing three clean ports of Persona 3 4 and 5, all multiplats, without any catch. Like I know Switch is part of the rumor but after all this time I'm being absolutely careful about believing it as is. Something is going to be wrong.

I am hoping we finally learn more about Re:Fantasy this year. I am super curious what that game is going to look like or how itā€™s going to play.

The best thing about possible Persona ports is more people actually playing them and realizing they are actually pretty good game but definitely very flawed.

also Xenoblade is better

My favorite part of Persona games is the character interactions so SMT is very boring to me.

What is really upsetting about the fact that you can't have gay relationships in Persona 5 is that
Akechi and the Protagonist are portrayed almost as a canon couple at the end, with the "dream" of the Protagonist that is to be able to stay with Akechi more. I wasn't a fan of this ship in P5, but Royal changed my mind lmao. So yeah, I think that they could add one of two male Love Interest.


Also I hate the fact that ALL the girls want to be with the protagonist in P3-4-5.
Like, it's so unrealistic.
There are also other ships that would have been clearly canon without this mechanic, and this really upset me tbh.
The ship I'm talking about:

Mitsuru and Akihiko from P3 and, more importantly, Kanji and Naoto from P4. The entire of Kanji arc is based on his crush for Naoto after all...

I have yet to play a REAL SMT, so I don't know if I'll prefer it over Persona in the end.
I have played Devil Survivor 2 tho, and I loved it. I can't decide which I loved more tho

I have zero faith in Altus just announcing three ports. Instead, they will announce an announcement in the future which will detail when the announcement is for the games they will reveal in the future for a release in 2026.

No, I would gladly torpedo the chance of any Persona ever launching on any non-Playstation system if it meant we got all of mainline SMT on a modern Nintendo system. The whole social system is incredibly off-putting.

Couldnā€™t care less about Persona. I played through P4G and that was enough for me, I just donā€™t value the whole social side of rpgs, the anime skits or the high school calendar stuff at all. As such I found the whole thing incredibly slow and the dungeon crawling repetitive and tedious. I dislike the effect itā€™s had on Fire Emblem, Ys, Valkyria Chronicles and Trails too.

Still, just as well itā€™s a huge genre with something for everyone. Not much point in complaining about the Switch getting ports I donā€™t care for when Bravely Default 2, SMTV, DQXI, MH Stories 2, Live A Live and Triangle Strategy are all exactly my cup of tea instead, and Iā€™m sure every one of those has their detractors too. The advantage of the platform having tons of JRPGs on it.
