it looks ok so far, but I'm disapointed that once again pokemon in battles attack from a mile away, Legends Arceus was an isolated experiment it seems.

Probably mentioned already but the trainer who looks like she’s about to challenge you in the trailer, mentions ‘are you the trainer of these three’ does this hint that we may get all 3 starters from the off?
That'd be very cool. This, together with the 2 professors and legendaries hinting at some past/future shenanigans could also pave the way for the series taking more of an oracle of seasons/oracle of ages approach rather than the same content with slightly different pokémon for each version. Or not.

"Are you these three's Trainer?" is said in front of the same villa the starters' introductory cutscene plays out at. The first battle seems to take place somewhere else, with a blue court. So I bet when you first meet Nemona you simply haven't picked one of the three yet and she mistakes you as the trainer of all of them.

Scarlet theme (Sada, Koraidon) = Monster Hunter
Violet theme (Turo, Miraidon) = Monster Hunter in space.

I like it.

Man I do not know how to feel about the legends. The Scarlet one would be cool if it didn't look like it had a tire from a car crash embedded in its chest. And the Violet one looks cool from waist high up, and then gets too many limbs and weird bits below that. I deem them both mid. Here's hoping the 'third' legendary is cool.

The other Pokemon look cute! I'm hoping we get to know the gimmick soon, looks like our rival is wearing something to do with it.

A very meh trailer tbh. Lechonk shall rule the lands though. It seems like they are holding a lot of cards close to their chest, which will be leaked by August I'm guessing anyways.

So really I'm kind of where I was before this trailer. It didn't really do anything for me except make me wish it wasn't released cause it's like I have to reset my hype and expectations. I'm left with the same questions really. Maybe more.

The new Pokemon designs are garbage. They are so jarring and the art style clashes with a lot of the older Pokémon. The new Legendary are over designed and we are getting even more Dragon Legendary Pokemon...

The trailer was a bit light on details, but I think that this gen has more potential than Gen.8 with the focus on online play and a full open world.

The internet is going to get wild about her. I know it.

And this is my opinion regarding the fact that Miraidon has a pair of jet engines, something totally normal for evolution:

Yeah. Not that big of a fan of a lot of them. Seemed to clash like you said.

Going with Scarlet because the history aspect reminds me of how in White 2, Route 4 and Opelucid City were very old-styled, whereas in Black 2, they were futuristic.

They look like Gen 2 designs, and dragon legendaries are good. This post is way off base.

my old guard gamer sister immediately brought this up when we were discussing the trailer

Really like what they showed. The new Pokemon, the human NPCs, your own character is customizable again, the professors and the legendaries. Violet it is for me.

Leaning to Violet atm but there is a big chance Scarlet could be the one based on version exclusive stuff. That said; the legendaries really look they where brought from How to Train a Dragon.

God the more I look at those professors the more I'm just like ugh. They just look so weird, especially the guy. The other character models look fine if not good so I don't know why they went with super chiseled weirdo face for the guy. I think it's the beard that freaks me out the most, just looks so odd compared to the rest of the game.

I'm not too fussed about the in-combat camera being more traditional but if battle transitions are back and it's as slow as SwSh, I'm probably out again. PLA had some questionable design choices but it was quite snappy which I liked.

As per my tradition, I will pick the second version of the pair for the odd Generation (like I did for Blue, Sapphire, White, and Moon). Certainly Shield has some things I would prefer like Corsola and the Gym Leaders, but I ultimately went with Sword because of said tradition. It would be interesting to see how Miraidon would shape up to be. It is very likely going to be Dragon but I am open to being surprised by a completely unexpected type combination (only because there are already lots of Dragon legendaries).

Of the new Pokemon, Smoliv caught my attention for being another Grass-type. I hope there are more Grass-types later on, since Gen 8 didn't have much new, nor was Gen 6. Gen 7 had ample new Grass-types so that one was satisfactory. The type combination is interesting only because the only other one with it is, Sawsbuck, is a physical attacker. It looks to lean towards defence like Gossifleur/Eldegoss is, but its hidden ability is the mysterious part. Hopefully it can still be viable.

Thank you for reading.

I need this game to have a bunch of well designed towns and dungeons, not just boring caves and these small settlements with nothing to do. That's pretty much what'll make or break it for me, if it's only one big city or two and boring open world zones then I'm out, especially because I doubt there'll be much challenge to be found with how this is structured.

Don't even care about battle transitions and Arceus catching or whatever, that doesn't really matter to me, either is fine. (as long as the combat is standard Pokemon.)

Some of the design looks like they came from a Kirby game. Especially Pawmi and Fuecoco. Lechonk and Smoliv look like fakeamons or generic enemies in an some 2D indie game. It is just jarring. Did they even do any type of testing of the designs?

hard disagree, they feel right at home imo

That's the brilliance of a good Pokemon name, it has clever meanings in multiple different languages, while still being the same name.
I like that too about pokemon names, but as I said before I'm not a fan of memes in localizations because they age really bad. Insert Zelda NoA vs NoE translation

Curious about multiplayer, cause that way my daughter and I could play together. But trailer looks cool so far.

Not sure why its being called a regression from PLA. They are different games aiming for different experiences, and one is not better than the other. Just different. Not sure why anyone though the next Gen would follow the PLA formula when that game is its own thing.

Not sure how I feel about the world being fully explorable from the start

Like, a lot of the fun in these kinds of games is from "oh, I wonder what will be in the next area?" except now, there is no next area. It's like you get to open all your presents right from the beginning, saving nothing for the rest of the game. The world looks pretty empty, too

Does that mean all non-legendary Pokemon can be found right from the start? Or will main story progression cause new Pokemon to appear that weren't there before?

definitely disagree, as do most people going off of reception.

It was a fun trailer, showed off some nice pokemon and I'm really liking the past/future theme and the aesthetic of the professor/legends.

Probably leaning towards Miraidon since Jet dragon is just a cool ass concept and I like futuristic stuff

we don't know the exact structure, but I imagine it will amount to certain portions of certain areas being unexplorable without a certain method of traversal and that gyms and wild pokemon will scale with your story progress

For all of ya saying its regression, tbh I don't care. I need the throwing of the poke ball and Pokemon to automatic, as otherwise I won't be able to catch any Pokemon myself.

There is still a next area, we just wont all go in the same order. Exploring BotW was incredibly satisfying because I couldn't wait to explore the next location.
