So by going for Pokemon Violet I get gigachad professor and a legendary that's a a snake with jet engines for legs.
Hell yeah.
That'd be very cool. This, together with the 2 professors and legendaries hinting at some past/future shenanigans could also pave the way for the series taking more of an oracle of seasons/oracle of ages approach rather than the same content with slightly different pokémon for each version. Or not.Probably mentioned already but the trainer who looks like she’s about to challenge you in the trailer, mentions ‘are you the trainer of these three’ does this hint that we may get all 3 starters from the off?

Well she does have the fangs to be a she-wolfThat'd make female Professor ... Shakira?
Shakira! Shakira!
I feel like it’s true thoDamn, Lechonk already getting Belda'd.
Also.....No mentions of the new gimmick....assuming there is one.Interesting that they still haven’t named the region, no?
I think they usually name the region when they reveal the map?Interesting that they still haven’t named the region, no?
they're saying they look similar to kit and krysta, respectively.I don't understand what this is supposed to show, they don't look similar
I'm pretty sure if anyone tries to harm a Lechonk the internet is gonna murder. We were making jokes last month about food Pokémon and a ham leg was one of those. Lechonk better stay safe!
Yeah. Not that big of a fan of a lot of them. Seemed to clash like you said. The new Pokemon designs are garbage. They are so jarring and the art style clashes with a lot of the older Pokémon. The new Legendary are over designed and we are getting even more Dragon Legendary Pokemon...
Easily my favorite legendaries in a hot minuteI'm slightly warmer now on Miraidon because I think its eyes are super cool.
They look like Gen 2 designs, and dragon legendaries are good. This post is way off base. The new Pokemon designs are garbage. They are so jarring and the art style clashes with a lot of the older Pokémon. The new Legendary are over designed and we are getting even more Dragon Legendary Pokemon...
my old guard gamer sister immediately brought this up when we were discussing the trailerGoing with Scarlet because the history aspect reminds me of how in White 2, Route 4 and Opelucid City were very old-styled, whereas in Black 2, they were futuristic.
It's not so much "hehe le chonker" but spanish Lechón.I am not a fan of the name Lechonk because it sounds to memey for me
I'm slightly warmer now on Miraidon because I think its eyes are super cool.
Some of the design looks like they came from a Kirby game. Especially Pawmi and Fuecoco. Lechonk and Smoliv look like fakeamons or generic enemies in an some 2D indie game. It is just jarring. Did they even do any type of testing of the designs?Yeah. Not that big of a fan of a lot of them. Seemed to clash like you said.
Yeah I'm not sure about that. I "believe" all people that don't know spanish (me included) would think first about the chonker memeIt's not so much "hehe le chonker" but spanish Lechón.
hard disagree, they feel right at home imoSome of the design looks like they came from a Kirby game. Especially Pawmi and Fuecoco. Lechonk and Smoliv look like fakeamons or generic enemies in an some 2D indie game. It is just jarring. Did they even do any type of testing of the designs?
That's the brilliance of a good Pokemon name, it has clever meanings in multiple different languages, while still being the same name.Yeah I'm not sure about that. I "believe" all people that don't know spanish (me included) would think first about the chonker meme
I mean, the grass starter is literally called "Gatito".Yeah I'm not sure about that. I "believe" all people that don't know spanish (me included) would think first about the chonker meme
I like that too about pokemon names, but as I said before I'm not a fan of memes in localizations because they age really bad. Insert Zelda NoA vs NoE translationThat's the brilliance of a good Pokemon name, it has clever meanings in multiple different languages, while still being the same name.
The "ride" (raid) in Koraidon and Miraidon is cool too. That's the brilliance of a good Pokemon name, it has clever meanings in multiple different languages, while still being the same name.
Sorry I don't understand your point with this one. I don't have problems with words in different languages, my problem is the meme part in some namesI mean, the grass starter is literally called "Gatito".
This is terrifyingIt's not so much "hehe le chonker" but spanish Lechón.
That's the thing, it's just lechón + chunk/chonk. It's not a passing meme, it's language evolution.Sorry I don't understand your point with this one. I don't have problems with words in different languages, my problem is the meme part in some names
definitely disagree, as do most people going off of reception. Some of the design looks like they came from a Kirby game. Especially Pawmi and Fuecoco. Lechonk and Smoliv look like fakeamons or generic enemies in an some 2D indie game. It is just jarring. Did they even do any type of testing of the designs?
we don't know the exact structure, but I imagine it will amount to certain portions of certain areas being unexplorable without a certain method of traversal and that gyms and wild pokemon will scale with your story progressNot sure how I feel about the world being fully explorable from the start
Like, a lot of the fun in these kinds of games is from "oh, I wonder what will be in the next area?" except now, there is no next area. It's like you get to open all your presents right from the beginning, saving nothing for the rest of the game. The world looks pretty empty, too
Does that mean all non-legendary Pokemon can be found right from the start? Or will main story progression cause new Pokemon to appear that weren't there before?
There is still a next area, we just wont all go in the same order. Exploring BotW was incredibly satisfying because I couldn't wait to explore the next location. Not sure how I feel about the world being fully explorable from the start
