I'm sitting here drinking a spinach and kale smoothie. Does anyone have any trash takes to entire me with? Like, really terrible takes. The worst takes you can throw at me. For example, I recently said that I prefer Earthbound Beginnings to Earthbound. I want that level of trash takes.
Back off everyone, I got this.

* ahem *

Team February always wins.

I secretly made this thread to ignore anyone who isn’t getting Kirby day one after seeing mouthful mode

@Mods How do I dislike a post? 😤

Edit: You're lucky that the mods no longer allow me to report posts because apparently averaging 327 reports a day for "Team February propaganda" was too much. 😡

I am thankful that there isn't a whole lot on the PS5 and Xbox Series that really interest me coming out in the near feature. Horizon Forbidden West looks nice but I haven't gotten very far in the first one. Same with God of War. There's Final Fantasy 16 and who knows when that will come out. The Microsoft stuff like Perfect Dark and Fable I'm interested in are seemingly years away. So there's no rush for me to a new console and the amount of games that interest me on PS4 is drying up. There's Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and...that's really it. So it might be 95% Switch stuff and older games for my purchases this year.

Outside of Horizon next week, there isn't anything in the near future for Sony first party that screams "You have to play this right away!" Spider-man is next year. The next Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch adventure is at least a couple years out. The next gen seems to be starting out just as slow as the last one for the power consoles. 2022 is absolutely the year of the Switch for me.

I take it that your Yeah! on my list was to mark me later for your block list? 😢

Batman games weren’t announced right? I feel like this happens often. Retailer “leaks” a release that everyone assumes will be at an upcoming Direct and then it’s announced like 4 months later actually. I seem to remember the same thing happening for The Great Ace Attorney, for example.

If it wasn’t for the shortage I would have happily picked-up a PS5 solely for the PS+ collection of games. I haven’t played like 90% of the games offered so it would have been nice to experience them at their best. Unfortunately doesn’t seem that will happen anytime soon with shortages. I’ll just hope its a bit better by the time FFXVI comes out, that is the only game that I see as one I’d like to play day one.

I'm interested in FF 16 but it isn't a system seller for me which my teenage self would never believe if I told him. I bought FF 13 day one. 15 in the first week. FF7 Remake I got day one. But none of those ever captured the feeling I got playing Final Fantasy games as a kid. There was a period where the Final Fantasy games were basically my entire gaming life from playing I, II, IV, V, and VI on the Playstation anthologies to VII to IX to X and XII. I found the Final Fantasy games in the past 10 years to be good but they just weren't the same. I think XIII-2 may be my favorite of the relatively games just because how insane the plot gets. The recent FF games feel small to me. I didn't get the sense of a wider world to explore or a deeper mystery to untangle.

I think the reason why I like the Xenoblade games so much is because they do give me the feelings I had playing classic Final Fantasy games. They are grand adventures. You start out in small village and by the end, you're fighting deities in space. You visit vast, exotic lands. Meet a wide range of characters and races. People often find the plots in Japanese RPGs to be completely insane but that's why I like them. It's only in videogames where you can explore and participate in the stories of these type of worlds. Stuff like this would be too expensive and too difficult to do well in movies or TV. I am not as into the stories of games like Uncharted or The Last of Us because I feel like they are just attempting to copy stories in mediums that do it a lot better. I can get my fill of Indian Jones or Walking Dead from TV and film. Give me the insane shit that can only be done in games (and maybe comics).

Same here. I've said on several occasions that Xenoblade is carrying the torch that Final Fantasy dropped after Sakaguchi left. And when you consider MonolithSoft was formed by Square employees, I think it's appropriate.

I actually have a little dream that Monolith and Mistwalker would collaborate someday soon, like Square and Enix did for Chrono Trigger. I think having Sakaguchi, Takahashi, and Honne (and Mitsuda and Uematsu) together on a project would be absolute magic.

So how do you guys feel about the slight controversy about how the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC might just be the tour maps put into the game? Do you guys find that bad? Or do you not really care? I'm interested in the general opinion here.
I just posted about it in the Mario Kart DLC thread, but I'm actually happy about this. It's Tour without the bullshit and I'd pay 60 bucks for that. Now I don't have to pay a dime with my NSO subscription.

Also it's 48 more tracks why the hell are we complaining about where they came from?

I'm going to wait until I see them in action to decide, but I don't expect it to it to be a big deal, personally.

Someone pointed out on twitter that by the end of 2023, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will have more tracks than Smash Ultimate has characters. That kinda blew my mind.
Shhh, not too loud. You'll cause them to announce another Fighters Pass.

And it's just in time to add Melia, in addition to Twintelle, Saki Amamiya, Ashley, and Alexandra Roivas

For anyone interested

If there weren't like 47 other tactics games coming out soon I'd probably pick this up, I've been waiting for a version that runs and looks a lot better than the Switch one. That said, I'm sure I'll get it eventually now, just probably not soon.

Alright. I gotta be real.

I’m glad Mario Strikers is back. But some probably don’t remember or are just interested in the title for the first time, that the first 2 titles were not content rich. In fact, the original GameCube game was absolutely barebones at the level of Mario Tennis on Wii U. And that’s not a joke, plus the only unlockable character tanks the framerate where the game is unplayable on certain stages. And it’s not even a Mario character. It’s a robot that is as generic as you get.

I’m sure some have gotten burn on Camelot’s switch games but those Two at launch had more content then the Wii Strikers game as well.

Just saying. Even if it’s Next Level Games, don’t go in expecting a content rich game. Or more content then the Camelot games on switch.
The first two Strikers games also got pretty mediocre reviews. GC Strikers has a 76 on Metacritic and Charged has a 79.

Pretty different to the fan perception of the series.

Okami is a pretty on-par Zelda game, honestly

Also I always feel the urge to reply on graphics complaints threads that gaming has yet to surpass Okami visually so really why are we complaining about how X Switch game looks like a PS2 game
Most Zelda games have at least one clever dungeon to be fair.

I like Okami's art style well enough, but I certainly don't think it's the best gaming has to offer. A lot of the game looks fairly washed out and the rendering method for the thick-black lines has obvious drawbacks.

I threw this together years ago to console myself but it's relevant to this post. Gonna will this damn game into existence.

Not sure if it was posted here, but slightly interesting thing the all new official Chrono Cross twitter account has the handle chronogame rather than chronocrossgame or something similar. Could be nothing or could hint they know they will do something more with it in the future. Most likely it is future Chrono Trigger ports…but it could be a future game if we want to be extra hopeful.

As someone who desperately wanted new Mario Kart content, any real disappointment that could come from that is mitigated by the overwhelming amount of new courses being added. I suspect it will look better-ish in game behind the wheel compared to the camera they used and when you are playing splitscreen it’s often a wash anyway. (I also don’t terribly care about graphic quality to begin with)

I think the bigger concern is that the tracks won’t necessarily have as many antigravity gimmicks, but it’s not like those substantially affect the racing in most cases.

This is why unless its Nate, Emily or someone in an official position like Imran or Jeff, I ain't believing shit.

And even then, I always assume the information isn't 100% accurate until confirmed.
It's best to take anything as a glimpse behind the curtain.

I think most of us played those when we were teenagers or young adults, they are a fresh take on the most popular sport in the world and they’re a bit edgy so we remember them more fondly than they probably deserve.

I never bothered with MK8 Deluxe coz I was thinking I would get MK9, but now that it's obviously not happening anytime soon I'll probably pick it up. How is the online in MK8 Deluxe? Is it a smooth experience?

Oh I agree, I also played Strikers at a pretty young age and I still really like it. The gameplay and art style hold up to this day, there just wasn’t that much content.

Did not know Chocobo Racing was going to have additional payments within it... I was looking forward to this one, but seriously, Square Enix can just sod right off.

Mario Kart DLC will have to do... fortunately I don't play the mobile game at all, so I am at least getting some new courses with this DLC.

Serious question. Can someone just go ahead and buy Square Enix? It's one thing after another with them and genuinely fed up of it now.

Eh, not too fussed. I had no interest in Tour but it was irritating seeing that get so much content while the only new Kart content on Switch after 2017 was the Live spin off. More than once I've wished Nintendo would update 8DX the way they do Tour, and now Nintendo are acting on that in a very literal sense.

It'll be a bit jarring that the new courses look so different, and I hope they make at least some effort to incorporate anti-grav. The fact it's included in a sub I got at a steep discount is what really seals the deal though - for the first few additions, I'm not paying all that much at all.

A 7 is not a mediocre score. Review scores range from 1 to 10, not 5 to 10.

Pikmin (sort of counts) and Mario baseball next please

Very true. I disagree with the people who say things like “they will never bring back F-Zero.” No, they will eventually bring back F-Zero, it just isn’t likely at any given time. But neither were Advance Wars or FDC.

If you like the PM TOK OST, could you peeps give some love to this project? It was posted 10 months ago and isn't even at half a million views. And no, I'm not getting anything for this "promotion". haha

Nintendo showed even with KIU that anything is possible and the FDC remakes only cemented that. On the third party front, Live A Live will see a release outside of Japan for the first time this year. Even PachinKonami seems to release more things again, with the train game being a major success in Japan.

Another Star Ocean 2 fan ? YES !
I would do anything to get the PS1 version on the Switch (my main problem with the PSP is the removal of We Form in Crystal for a very generic J-Pop song).

In what universe do you remove this song for J-Pop ? I have nothing against J-Pop but damn, it felt very out of place when you know the original.

It's no surprise that you like Xenoblade. After all, Monolith Soft is made up of many former Square employees.

I think it was pretty close between Live a Live and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. In the end I am a bit more hyped for XC3 but both were a good suprise and looked great.

I was thinking last night how cool it would be to get the Tomb Raider trilogy on Switch, then I realised that's Square so chances are could be cloud versions : (
