Nothing makes me happier than checking out the updated release infographic for the year the day after a Direct. Pretty colors, hype and financial fears aplenty!

Here's the latest from user ieatdragonz on reddit (click to expand or view here, I didn't want to crowd out the OP with a massive image)

There are a few things missing, but I thought it would be fun for us to share what our expected purchases so far are! Either with a count, table, list, circling on the image... whatever your style is. What'll it be, fami?

Here's mine. Bolds are definite purchases, mostly day 1s unless I anticipate the price to drop fast.

MonthAnticipated Purchases by Date
January28th: Pokemon Legends Arceus (adoring it)
February(playing catch up from 2021 still + Legends)
March10th: Chocobo GP (Lite only probably for now since Mario Kart DLC is coming..)
18th: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster (Wave 1)
25th: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
April29th: Nintendo Switch Sports
May17th: Two Point Campus (free on Game Pass instead)
Spring
June10th: Mario Strikers Battle League
24th: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (if I finish Three Houses, which I haven't started... so, probably not)
July8th: Klonoa
22nd: Live A Live (didn't know about this before the direct and my interest is piqued!)
August(my birthday month, cmon Ninty give me a surprise)
Summer?: Splatoon 3
?: Disney Speedstorm (free download so why the hell not give it a run, like Chocobo, but not expecting much)
September(Xeno fans don't kill me, maybe I'll finally grab the remaster of 1 to get into the series lol)
2022?: Sonic Frontiers (unrealistically hopeful for this one)
?: The Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
?: Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (fingers crossed no delay as rumored)

?: Portal Companion Collection (why not)
?: Bayonetta 3 (if 1+2 get a sale and I finish them)
?: Hollow Knight: Silksong
Not mentioned on the image / Heavily Rumored?: Pokemon Legends DLC
?: Metroid Prime Remaster
?: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster (Wave 2+3?)

All told, I'm looking at about 10-15 new titles and 2 DLC packs so far.

Just from the picture
GetsuFumaDen - Most likely
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + DLC
Rune Factory 5
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Advance Wars RE-Boot Camp
Star Wars The Force Unleashed
Mario Strikers Battle League
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
Splatoon 3
Bayonetta 3
The Legend of Zelda
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Portal Companion Collection
TMNT Shredder's Revenge
Hollow Knight Silksong

Chocobo GP - Will give a try with the Lite Version
Nintendo Switch Sports - I'll try out the Online Test
Front Mission 1st - Looked interesting but I know nothing about it, so I'll have to look into it

Five day one purchases for me:
  • Arceus
  • Kirby
  • Switch Sports
  • Portal Collection
  • BotW 2

Five maybes:
  • Ezio Collection
  • Chocobo GP
  • Advance Wars
  • Mario Strikers
  • Klonoa

Not counting MK8 DLC since I’ve got the Expansion Pack. So not too crazy a year for me personally yet.

Piracy is against the law and against site rules, and posts like this are largely seen as indirectly admitting to it. -blondkayvon, Donnie, hologram
thankful for my launch switch this year 🙏

Already got Pokemon Legends, and Kirby, Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade have my preorders in 1000%. Or course also interested in BotW2 and Mario Kart is very tempting at that price point. Chrono Cross and Triangle Strategy piqued my interest, but I'll hold off on those I think, my backlog is big enough.

I'm looking at the following games (not all Switch games but mostly are):

unknown.png

Not entirely sure I'm getting some of these. I could see myself skipping Switch Sports. Mario Strikers is a maybe. I'm interested in the indie games on here (obviously) but they tend to be more sensitive to general reception than other releases are for me.

Looking like a lot of damage, though.

For my personal tastes it feels like there's just too much.

I don't ever like to buy stuff I'm not going to play right then and there, so for some of these I'm absolutely gonna have to make some tough choices about what gets a delayed purchase down the line.

Definites:

#Team January
  • Pokemon Legends Arceus - already have it and continue to love it. really into Pokemon now.
#Team February
  • Majora's Mask - play through on NSO
#Team March
  • Mario Kart 8 - LOL I actually have to rebuy it too 🤡
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land - No question. Been waiting decades for something like this
#Team April
  • Chrono Cross - I have never played it. And that's always sat wrong with me.
#Team May
  • Hopefully Nothing - I need to prepare for the rest of the year
#Team June
  • Mario Strikers - Still beaming over this reveal. So happy. It better be good.
  • Cup Head DLC - been waiting a long time for this one.
#Team July
  • Klonoa - Love the first game, never played 2. Nice change of pace from Cup Head as well lol
  • Live A Live - Dream game announcement for me. Of course I'm there day one.
#Team August
  • Splatoon 3 - I'm waiting to see the reception to this one, but I may jump on it when released if it's doing all the right things.
  • Front Mission - Same as the above. both of these are super strong maybes that I might cave on if they turn out underwhelming.
#Team September
  • Xenoblade 3 - Of course! This feels like it's going to be bonkers in all the right ways.
#Team Whenever
  • Zelda - duh?
  • Bayonetta 3 - darling...
  • Mario + Rabbids 2 - doh!

I’m still taking damage from 2018 onwards, 2022 is more of reducing me to atoms

Kirby is the day one purchase for me, everything else I can probably wait on while I work through my backlog.

OMG I forgot Chocobo GP!!

smh shake my whole head in shame

at this point I may delay that purchase(maybe). Mario Kart really woke up yesterday morning and decided to steal all that thunder huh?

Only listing stuff touched in the recent direct:

Advance Wars
Triangle Strategy
LiveALive
Crono Cross
No Mans Sky

This year is gonna demolish my savings:

Arceus
Ezio Collection
Triangle Strategy
Kirby
Advanced Wars
Skywalker Saga
Switch Sports
Mario Strikers
Fire Emblem Warriors
Splatoon 3
MH Rise Sunbreak
Klonoa
Live A Live
Xenoblade 3
Star Wars Hunters (I think it's F2P? Idk)
Mario+Rabbids
Bayonetta 3
BotW2

And if the Metroid Prime Remake/Remaster thing is real, that too.

Hoping, fruitlessly, that Splatoon 3 ends up coming out in May given there are no other Nintendo games scheduled. That’s my #1 priority this year.

I will spend Too Much Money this year.

There are fifteen games with confirmed release windows I want there, oh jesus. I picked the wrong year to go get my Masters.

Just Kirby and BOTW 2 for me. Hoping for more platformers. On non-Nintendo fronts, Tunic is one of my most anticipated this year. Though that may come to Switch whenever the exclusivity period ends.

Let's just put it this way; I need to get a job anyway, but after yesterday's direct I'm scrambling to find one. Counted eighteen games on that list I want to get, plus god knows how many which released in the past five years (been stuck as 3DS only since 2013)

My wallet is about to become a revolving door

Buying/Bought:
  • Pokemon Legends Arceus
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass
  • Nintendo Switch Sports
  • Omori
  • Mario Strikers: Battle League
  • Live A Live
  • No Man's Sky
  • Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
  • Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
On the fence/Maybe later:
  • Triangle Strategy
  • Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp
  • Splatoon 3
  • Bayonetta 3
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Help.

In no order, not counting PS5 games:

Kirby and the Forgotten Lands
Any other stuff that is released for Kirby’s 30th Anniversary (come on GnW)
Infernax
Breath of the Wild 2
Splatoon 3
Freedom Planet 2
Sonic Origins Collection
Pac-Man Museum +
Sol Cresta
Mario Strikers Battle League
Bayonetta 3
River City Girls Zero
River City Girls 2
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Omari
Klonoa
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

There’s more, particularly in the indie department but I am not sure they are coming out this year and if so, to Switch.

All Nintendo First Party are day 0 cops for me lol. Already copped Kingdom Hearts and GetsuFumoDen.

Otherwise, Chocobo GP and Triangle Strategy for sure. Klonoa, Chrono Cross, Live A Live, Demon Slayer, P4AU, Aegis Rim, Lego Star Wars, Omori, Gundam, Sonic, TMNT, and probably RCG2 are all day 1s.

2022 will be a bloodbath for Switch. Honestly I hope PS5 keeps quiet because this is too much.

Going off that list I am definitely getting:

1. Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp
2. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (I somehow already forgot that it's coming out in September and so seeing that listed was a great surprise.)
3. Breath of the Wild 2
4. Shredder's Revenge
5. Silksong

I will probably get:

1. Triangle Strategy

I might get:

1. Live A Live
2. Rune Factory 5
3. Metal Slug Tactics

I need to see how it turns out because something about the trailer made it seem bad but I want to like it:

1. Front Mission 1st

I would only want to play this for Radical Dreamers so it would be really stupid of me to buy, but I am stupid, and if a physical Asian version shows up on Play-Asia then I will be even stupider:

1. Chrono Cross

Not on that list but I'm definitely getting:

1. Cotton Fantasy
2. Sports Story
3. Dragon Quest III remake
4. Sonic Origins
5. Pixel Remasters if they come to Switch this year

Not on that list but probably getting:

1. The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero

Keep this unholy abomination away from me:

1. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

As for games on other conoles:

1. ................. Maybe Elden Ring? I really want to wait until I get a PS5 to play that, but I don't plan to have a PS5 for quite a while still. I want to get one once they're easy to grab and when there are actually sales on their games. It would be great to be able to buy a PS5 and at the same pick up Demon's Souls, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy XVI, Horizon, and God of War all on sale. So yeah, I might end up getting Elden Ring on the PS4 because my PS5 dream might not happen until the PS6 is out.

On Hold For Elden Ring (basically I want a Steam Deck to play Elden Ring and I'm unsure of when that'll come in, so that'll effect when I get these games, but they're all probably going to be got eventually):
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Triangle Strategy
Rune Factory 5

Day One:
Pokemon Legends Arceus (already bought)
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Silksong (if it comes out which let's be real is a complete toss up at this point)
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Pretty Interested, but it's a "Wait and See" and maybe a "Wait for a Sale"
Live A Live
Bayonetta 3
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (probably not on Switch though)
Metal Slug Tactics

Triangle Strategy
Kirby and the Forgottenland
Omari
Mario Strikers Battle League
AI
Cuphead DLC
Live A Live
Splatoon 3
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Bayonetta 3
Zelda
Mario +Rabidds
Digimon Survive
Metal Slug Tactics
Hollow Knight silksong
Klonoa
Advance Wars
River City Girls 2
Ninja Turtles

maybe
Sonic
Fire Emblem Warriors

Now I won't get all of those day one because that's nuts, but a very good year. I don't even need anything new to be shown off for the rest of the year, but there will totally be unknown things I want.

Buying/Bought:
  • Pokemon Legends Arceus
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass
  • Nintendo Switch Sports
  • Omori
  • Mario Strikers: Battle League
  • Live A Live
  • No Man's Sky
  • Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
  • Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
On the fence/Maybe later:
  • Triangle Strategy
  • Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp
  • Splatoon 3
  • Bayonetta 3
Help.
Don't forget to mention the $20 eShop gift card. 🙃

Day one: Kirby, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem Warriors 3 Hopes, Shredder's Revenge, Klonoa, BOTW 2, and MK8 DLC is "free" for me.

Maybe: Ezio, Strikers, Live a Live, Triangle Strategy, Sun Break. cuphead DLC. Never finished Cuphead and I put Monster Hunter on the back burner so who knows when I'll get back to it.

On sale: Rabbids

So, Kirby, Advance Wars, and Zelda. Maybe Metal Slug.

All in all... probably a little less than normal for me for one year on Switch. But I'm sure a few more things will come along this year that I'll end up grabbing.

Day 1-
Nintendo Sports Switch
Mario Strikers: Battle League
Advance Wars ($40 Target pre-order from last year)
Splatoon 3 (Unless something really stupid happens)
Zelda: BOTW 2
Bayonetta 3 ($50 Amazon pre-order from a hundred years ago)

First sale-
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Metroid Prime 1 HD
Live A Live

Black Friday-
Fire Emblem Warriors
Triangle Strategy
Xenoblade Chronicles 3

All Year Long-
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

0
So January was obviously Pokemon Legends Arceus.
February is nothing.
March is Kirby.
April is Advanced Wars, Nintendo Switch Sports, and maybe MLB The Show.
Then, uh, Mario Strikers, maybe Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids, and the Portal collection.

Arceus
Mario Kart Booster Shot
Kirby
Cuphead DLC
maybe Klonoa eventually (on sale?)
Live A Live
maybe Splat 3
Zelda
Silksong

May is so empty it's depressing. That Evil Dead game delayed for Switch probably until fall so all I have Two Point Campus.

Overall, this is a weaker lineup compared to 2020 and 2019. Great first party stuff but third party is not there. The person who made the graphic had to include lower quality titles like Gal Gun or that Vampire visual novel to make it look stacked but it's not. One of the most disappointing thing about the direct is most of the announcements targeted summer, made the spring empty as hell.

I need more games!!!!

I'm only putting the games here I'm definitely getting, there's way too much and the catalogue of games I still want but can't buy right now is also massive, so I'm sticking with:

  • Triangle Strategy (or Live A Live)
  • Live A Live (or Triangle Strategy)
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild II

  • Triangle Strategy
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Advance Wars 1&2 Reboot Camp
  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
  • Live A Live
  • Splatoon 3
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3
  • Bayonetta 3
  • Breath of the Wild 2

Crazy year, considering there's more to be announced. We're not even halfway through February. Imagine what it'll look like when more third parties and indies have had their say...

Definitely:
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Mario Strikers Battle League
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong (?)
  • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (?)
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass
Maybe:
  • Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot Camp
  • Arceus DLC if/when it releases

Last edited:
Mario Kart 8 DLC, Kirby, Switch Sports, Live A Live and Klonoa and that will cover me until BotW2 and Bayonetta barring any surprises or interesting indies that are due.

Ezio Collection
Triangle Strategy
Kirby
Advanced Wars
Skywalker Saga
Switch Sports
Mario Strikers
Fire Emblem Warriors
Splatoon 3
MH Rise Sunbreak
Klonoa
Live A Live
Xenoblade 3
Star Wars Hunters (I think it's F2P? Idk)
Mario+Rabbids
Bayonetta 3
BotW2

And if the Metroid Prime Remake/Remaster thing is real, that too.
Ubisoft deserve zero sales for that pathetic porting effort.

Agree it's a fantastic looking year though.

This year is so stacked!!

September: Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Depending on reception:
March: Triangle Strategy
June: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
H2 2022: Bayonetta 3

BOTW2
is a big question mark. I like the 'aesthetic' and I know reviews will be glowing but the 1st one didn't click with me and I don't care for 'more of the same'.. We'll see.
