It’s like literally every game this weekend has said “Oh yeah? Hold my beer” to the one that came before it

Are Nintendo's servers fucky right now or what

Can't get online for Smash

The NES, SNES, and N64 apps take forever to boot up

I can't even re-download Legends: Arceus to bump it back to the front of my home screen

Let me be clear, I'm starting a brand new file... After 100%ing NG+.

I will play Xenoblade 2 at some point this year. It’s on my list but I’m not worrying about the backlog right now

I’ve been playing the mass effect games again on ps5. I do hope they come to switch eventually

Update: @toastie finished the LEGO NES

I have that exact shelf, also right next to my TV which looks to be maybe the same table, lol
What size tv do you have

I'm scare to go bigger in case it doesn't fit. Haven't measured it but that would solve my problem

Best Star Wars game in years and i hope the rumors are true and we are getting the sequel this year
Yeah it clearly is the best Star Wars I played for the moment, I haven't touch Kotor yet. There's a big room for improvement but the base material has a lot of charm.
Respawn is a great studio, the sequel may be my most anticipated game of the year when it'll be announced.

ONE OF US, ONE OF US

Keep us posted! How did you end up liking Chapter 4 in the end?
Chapter 4 was pretty good, although I wasn’t a huge fan of having to go back and forth between the Toy Box and Toad Town to progress. Those Shy Guys are some crafty little bastards, but I made quick work of them in the end.

I also just finished Chapter 5, which was a very refreshing experience. Aesthetically, it may be my favorite jungle area in a video game. It reminded me a lot of World 3 of Yoshi’s Island, which was probably intentional, due to all the Yoshis and Ravens. Tracking down those baby Yoshis was a pain though, mostly because I didn’t realize you had to boost off the spinning flowers by pressing Z. I did like the juxtaposition between the jungle and volcano, and I hope we see more of that combination on biomes in the future. This was probably my favorite dungeon so far because it was pretty straightforward, although I was pretty close to death for a lot of it so I was always on edge. Also I’ve been reading Professor Kolorado’s lines in Professor Farnsworth’s voice, which has made him an even more entertaining character than he already was.

Agreed. It’s not perfect and relies a little too much on good things done by other games rather than establishing its own identity sometimes. But it felt more like good Star Wars than any other game in years (and some movies…). A sequel could definitely fix some things and deliver something amazing

Spoiler for a game that's older than I am:

... * thinks *

actually I don't think any exist

So I just finished watching all the Harry Potter movies (for like the 20th time) and I've been thinking about giving the Harry Potter Lego games a shot. Are they good? Faithful to the movies more so than books right?

The Zodiac Age makes Final Fantasy XII so much more enjoyable. My friend played the original PS2 version on an emulator this past fall instead of the Zodiac Age for....reasons.

I already loved the original, but it’s amazing how much better Zodiac Age is. It also really highlights just how astonishingly good the art direction and detail was for a PS2 game with how great it looks now.

And that orchestrated OST is a MASSIVE glowup on a really underrated soundtrack

I'd like to replay FFXII since it's on the Gamepass but I don't have time for JRPG.. I haven't even finished SMTV.

What’s the difference between an Intelligent Systems Fire Emblem and a Koei Tecmo one? I assumed IntSys was well involved in Three Houses, even if they weren’t doing most of the technical legwork.

Nobody? Nate’s comment about which team was developing which had me curious, as the only FE game I’ve played is 3H.

This year's FE is KT -- it's the same team that did Three Houses. The remake of Holy War for next year is IntSys.

my assumption was that kt developed three houses whereas intsys simply had an advisory role over the game (only a small amount of people credited with three houses were IS staff iirc?)

every other game has been developed by intsys

If KT and IS have developed a new FE for this year, I'm pretty sure it's a sequel to Three Houses. It will be 3 years since Three Houses, with the game being rumoured since last year and being developed during COVID. It's a safe bet to expect a new story in Fodlan.

I totally agree with your views on both chapters. 4 is a lot of fun but the backtracking gets old (though I love the pandemonium in Toad Town at the start of the chapter). 5 is a top 3 chapter in 64 for me, it's great, but yeah, it can be tedious with all the loading screens if you're lost.

The back half of Chapter 5 in particular is awesome, and I agree that the aesthetic is wonderful overall!

I've been playing JEDI: fallen order for 2 days now and.. it's a GREAT game I'm pleasantly surprised about everything
Fallen Order is "Modern Third Person Video Game: The Game" (with a Star Wars skin). It feels like 10 different games in one, without a single speck of originality. It's good though. Apparently the sequel launches at the end of the year.

I have a hard time seeing that unless it's a prequel. I don't see them canonizing one of the routes. I'm honestly hoping for an original story.

I really hope it’s a completely original story. I know it’s a big ask for such a short time frame but I’m just not interested in a direct sequel. If I wanted more of that world I’d have played the other routes and DLC.

OMG sandwich talk time

So after trying and loving the grilled PBJ I now want to grill all the things. I have a leftover half of a Port of Subs sandwich (they keep surprisingly well if they're wrapped) and I didn't want it to go to waste so I wanted to munch it tonight but I really wanted something warm so I had this weird thought that maybe I could grill it so I fuckin did and holy hell what a difference. The cheese got melty, the bread gained flavor and texture, and even though I thought warm cold cuts sounded gross it actually worked and I now feel like I've opened a door to a whole new world. Is this how Scott felt when Ramona drug him through the warp door? Should I grill my mac and cheese next? Where does this end?

a prequel makes more sense to me if it's another fodlan game, there are so many events that are mentioned/referenced that happened before the story of fe3h that are not actually .. elaborated on at all.

the issue with a sequel is that the team would have to establish which route is the 'true route' and that kinda diminishes the validity of the other routes because they aren't 'canon' (which is an issue fates also faced with revelation)

personally, i would love to see an entirely new story with an entirely new cast of characters
