And people spoke up. Articles and YouTube videos went up. Feels like nothing was able to come of it.
Well that was what, 3 years ago now? It takes longer then that to make a game so if he started it up around then it'll probably be ready within the next couple years.

Maybe a Dane launch title.

oh yeah, didn't he specifically cite it as a graphics showcase?

i do look forward to seeing more older IP’s from Nintendo now as we go down the second half of its life. Mario Baseball seems like it’s probably coming. I would’ve guessed Bandai is making one and I really want one.

Hopefully another old IP revival with a new game like Mach Rider or something. It’s time for Wario Land, Star Fox to make an appearance on Switch.

I hope Next Level Games is doing something no one is expecting. They’re so talented and can work on many genres. They like working on older Nintendo IP’s too.

Idk if we’ll get their game announced this year. I have a feeling we will have to wait one more year.

as a dumb little kid who only really started paying attention to Nintendo with the 3DS and Wii U, the absence of Star Fox on Switch is sorely felt

I’d be so ecstatic for NLG and for the Star Fox series. I almost feel like Star Fox needs a developer like NLG.

I think they could take it in the direction the series needs to finally comeback to critical success.
Exactly how I feel. NLG have shown they can tackle a heterogenous mix of genres. Give them Star Fox and see what happens.

Didn't someone in the know(maybe Emily) say something about NGL working to have two dev teams or am I just making that shit up? I think this happened right around when Nintendo acquired them.

* dreaming about Retro and NLG both having two development teams *

I don't think Nintendo wants RPG elements in their Mario sports games.
We have Golf Story for that. No, compared to a simple game like Wii Sports or simple Wii U ports like Tropical Freeze or Captain Toad the Mario versions of Tennis and Golf has underperformed sales wise.

Hey everyone!

Team February here. Not because I want it, but because it's the most likely scenario.

I won't write up on the entire year of releases, but I do hope we'll get a new platforming Mario this year. It's most likely going to be a 2D one, though. As much as I want a 3D one, I have to admit that it's quite likely that Bowser's Fury was an experimental demo for the next game, kinda like Link Between Worlds tested the series for freedom before BotW.

If it is 2D Mario, I hope it'll have at least a quarter of creativity that Mario 3 had. recently went back to play it, and was blown away by how it probably has the best map screen of all time. Even when copying it, NSMB didn't contain even half the surprises it offered.

Going to guess (or, I guess, hope) Zelda will come this year, too, mainly because it's likely going to reuse a lot of assets, so I don't forsee that many delays.

That didn't come from me. It would be cool if that happened though.

Miyamoto said he wanted Retro Studios to make 2 games at a time, thus cursing them to not ship a new game for a decade.

But in all seriousness it wouldn't be surprising to see more Nintendo subsidiaries end up with multiple production groups, though it may be the case that, at least at first, Nintendo have a small team at NLG who can support other studios. They did say that buying NLG would lead to greater development co-operation and therefore greater efficiency.

Well if you look through their back catalogue it's probably not Luigi's Mansion for the sake of breathing room, it's probably not Punch-Out because you can't really do Punch-Out right now, it's probably not Strikers because that game ticks off the Mario Anti-Personality Enforcement Council, and it's definitely not Federation Force because lol.

So I'd say it probably is something unexpected. At least something unexpected from NLG.

If It's a 2023 game, maybe we'll see something in the September Direct. Frankly I hope It's a new IP

Starfox would be a possible game for NLG to work on, in that they tend to make deliberately level based games that are clearly segmented.
I'm not sure a series where you primarily want the characters hidden away in big metal machines plays to their biggest strengths of having a slow paced but almost-pixar esque level of animation that really shined in their character animations in Luigis mansion 3 (and 2 to the extent the 3DS allowed). In some ways, that feels like that'd be the kind of developer/franchise mismatch that gave us the mistake that was Federation forces.
I think the former post by @Intoxicate is referring to the games' sales

Would be a bit weird were that the case, Mario Golf Super rush is by a significant margin (~25% better than previous series highs) the best selling Mario Golf game, as is Mario Tennis aces. Both are well over more than double the 3DS entries at any rate.

Federation Force was more than just a studio mismatch. The project was poorly executed from the beginning. It’s one thing to bring a project back from another era but to keep the same sort art style from said era is another. I still think Federation Forces could be a good hit that becomes the best selling Metroid title if properly handled.

As for StarFox I think NLG can do great work on it. Really I think any developer can at this point. But anyone who does needs to take a look at the series last and incorporate a lot of it:
-Command’s ship customization
-Assault’s combined arms approach
-Zero’s Marcross inspired Arwing transformation
-64’s story routes and hidden paths
-Starlink’s
From their they would probably have to look at something like Mass Effect’s Normandy. Walking around to talk to the various inhabitants of the ship, upgrading, customizing, etc. Finally look at what Kid Icarus did and give some of that.

Please I hope it's true. Ever since Hyrule Warriors happened, I have been hoping for two things: Either a Mario Warriors or a Xenoblade Warriors game. I would be fine with either one...so if this happens, I'll be a happy camper. :D

We’ll see how Mario warriors goes. If they do it like these other crossovers where they really go in depth with the series they’re crossing over with then it could be great.

So it looks like we should be getting Mario baseball and Mushroom Warriors as our Mario spin-off games this year. I don’t see 3D Mario coming this year with the 2D DK rumors.

Am I the only one who can't really see the Mario style fitting with a Warriors game? Like I'm sure they can make it work, but I just can't imagine what it would look like.

I hope to see either a new Fire Emblem game or a new Xenoblade game this year and I would be super happy.
2022 being the year where both happen is a legitimate possibility.
Where did baseball come from?
Someone in this thread manifested it, I believe, though they did have a little bit of evidence to support their theory (not any red flags, smoking guns, or the like).

They can make it work. I know it’s hard to imagine, but they’ll show us something where it works. It’ll have that nice Mario whimsical artstyle
