StarTopic Nintendo Direct Speculation |ST8| Press Your (Nintendo Direct) Luck!

Showing four Metroid games in a single Direct is the kind of ambition I applaud in a "leak".
I remember before E3 2017 I read somewhere that a leaker was saying there would be TWO Metroid games at the show.

All I could think when reading that was: ‘Yeah right. If you’re going to make a fake leak, at least try to make it somewhat believable’.

😅

Maturing is realizing Nintendo and Intelligent Systems could have scrapped one of the WarioWare releases on Switch and put those resources towards a Fire Emblem Tellius collection instead.
wisdom is realizing that instead they will be used on a fire emblem fates collection

I'd rather see the Tellius games get full remakes than an hd remaster collection. I'd also like to see at least FE4-6 get remakes first. That way only Marth's second story (FE3 book 2 / FE12) is left without an official English version.

Going by development timelines, NdCube and Camelot could be due for games this year.
For me, it's not primarily a "development timeline" issue, so I disagree, personally. The games that ND Cube and Camelot can bring are early games in a console's lifecycle, as I've said before, and I think that's a more important criterion than the points being made here. But of course, I could be completely wrong.

I know it will be great but I'm afraid it will be too easy. Maybe, like Mario 3D World, there will be a meaty and difficult postgame
I recently reread an interview with Koizumi about Jungle Beat and I kind of share this fear, although apart from the 3D World postgame, I'm somewhat a little bit reassured by this approach too, mentioned in this interview given after its presentation at E3 and before the end of its development:

It didn't have to be a "simple game", but it had to be a game that looked simple

If IntSys was more willing, I think there's room for both. A Tellius remake is probably closer to 10-15 years away, so I don't see the problem with an HD remaster in the meantime.

There were two years between SD (2008) and New Mystery (2010), seven between New Mystery (2010) and Echoes (2017), and if FE 4 Remake does release this year, it'll be another seven years in-between remake releases. Even if IntSys and Nintendo release a Fire Emblem mainline or spin-off game every year for the next roughly ten years, and assuming we're going in chronological order, it's still going to take time. Pulling out the hypothetical timetable:

2024 - Genealogy Remake
2025 - Genealogy Warriors
2026 - Thracia Remake/Original Game
2027 - Warriors 2
2028 - Original Game
2029 - New Remake (Elibe)
2030 - New Spin-off + 40th Anniversary (Possibly another Shadow Dragon remake)
2031 - N/A
2032 - Original Game (on Switch 2 Successor)
2033 - Magvel Remake (reusing 2032's game's assets)
2034 - New Spin-off's sequel
2035 - Tellius Duology & 30 Year Anniversary

As you can see, we've got TIME. I'd say that either in 2025 or 2027 (preferably the latter), do a Tellius Collection that somehow gives you bonus items in either Warriors game, not unlike how Three Houses' data gives you more Owl Feathers in Three Hopes.

I honestly feel like Thracia could be a DLC expansion to the FE4 Remake like Torna The Golden Country was for Xenoblade 2.

That way it speeds up development time when it comes to the remakes while also allowing them to focus on the next mainline entry.

What would be cool is if IS ever made original games again in the series.

Since 2007, we’ve had three remakes, two original titles, and one anniversary title with another remake currently rumored.

What they’re doing is good. They have a good amount of series to make every gen. No time for new unproven stuff.

City Folk was NOT a port of Wild World
Late reply, I actually agree, City Folk did take over some things from Wild World but it‘s added and changed enough things that it has to count as a new game. City Folk is actually my favorite Animal Crossing, I only mimicked the sentiment for my (half)-joke post.

Feels like it's been so little hype lately, so little Nintendo-stuff to look forward to (remakes aside). Not been able to follow if there's been any interesting reliable rumors lately, so, if I may ask, has there been anything interesting going on lately?
... any Metroid Directs leaked?

To be clear: I'm not saying they will launch games this year but that they could. I agree that new console timing makes this year's line up more difficult to figure out.

Or they could have scrapped the Fire Emblem games to give us a new Panel De Pon.

People need to stop saying this as it's a completely asinine suggestion. I have to assume people making it have not played either game in question. We know how long a FE dlc campaign "like Torna" would be, we got them from both 3 Houses and Engage. Spoilers they're 6-8 battles and only last around 10 hours.

Thracia is a full length Fire Emblem game, with over 30 battles that equates to ~40 hours of content. Not only that, its mechanics are RADICALLY different from the game it's a midquel to. Thracia trades FE4's massive maps for much smaller ones. Thracia introduces a stamina and capture mechanic that radically change how players tackle maps. Thracia has deployment limits on maps whereas FE4 you can deploy everyone. FE4 has a marriage and children system that Thracia doesn't.

I could go on but the point should be made. Nobody is suggesting they remake Fire Emblem 6 or 9 and then make FE7 or 10 dlc, it's completely off base to suggest FE5 should be dlc. It would be like if Nintendo did a remake of Ocarina of Time, and people suggested Majora's Mask could be a dlc campaign for that remake. Anyone who made that would get laughed out of the discussion. That's how off base FE5 being dlc for FE4 is.

There hasn’t really been any interesting rumors in the last few months aside from the April Direct rumor. Once Princess Peach releases, I think rumors will start to pick up as attention shifts within Nintendo and the likelihood of something happening (Indie World, Direct etc.) begins to increase.

Thank you kindly for the update ^^ Shame nothng new lately, but I figured that was the case. I hope the April Direct rumor is correct. If Switch 2 is indeed delayed, it would be nice with at least a few more non-remake Switch games to look forward to, this year.
Just show us Prime 4 already, it's literally been a billion years...

Next week is likely out with Peach being the main focus imo. It’s the 26th, 27th, or 28th if it’s happening this month.

Brazil’s rumor included Indie World, but personally even if Indie World doesn’t happen, I do think we have a high chance of an April Direct regardless given how the last show played out.

here's to hoping the rest of the schedule still happens as intended 🤞

An enhanced port is a port, you can't say it's only a not!
I kid, I know what City Folk did, it's still my favourite Animal Crossing.
I'm curious as to what the line is between an enhanced port and a remaster. Is a director's cut a remaster? Is The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster a remaster, director's cut or enhanced port?

These kinds of philosophical questions keep me updated at night... Man my life must seem very boring to some people.

Port: The same game on new hardware, with minimal changes ie the NES on GBA line

Enhanced Port: The same game on new hardware, minimal upgrade to visuals or performance, but new content or some qol improvements added ie the Final Fantasy releases on GBA

Remaster: The same game on new hardware, visuals and/or performance are improved to take advantage of the more powerful hardware along with old code being replaced by more modern code as applicable for a smoother experience, might also include new content and/or some qol improves ie the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters

Remake: You recreate the game from scratch, as if this was the first time you were making it ie Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Remind me again about the time intervals between Indie Worlds and a majorish Direct equivalent type of presentation? For whatever reason I have 2-3 weeks as the average in my mind

Also my brain thought of GBA era Kirby inhale sounds seeing that GIF

I'm not sure I would want resources spent towards full remakes. HD remaster would work perfectly for me when it comes to GC/Wii FE.

I know about the differences in definition, I'm just kinda curious about the line in this case. Specifically in reference to games like Last of Us Part 2 remaster, which was... not a remaster. It would logically fall under enhanced port. Idk, how we draw these lines is strange.
Though FF7R being called a "remake" is a bit disingenuous. It's probably best to call it a "Reimagining" akin to how Capcom refers to Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remake. Still a weird term, but it's a bit more honest there.

Full voice acting
Giving Radiant Dawn actual supports
Rebalancing both games
Better plan on how to connect the titles
Modern graphics

There's a lot of reasons to want two remakes over a remaster collection

Okay, but this would take like eight years to do, just make new games.

Fire Emblem 1-10 combined sold roughly the same amount of units as Three Houses alone.

Before the patterns were broken, we had three major indie worlds: March/April, August and December. The last two years we've been having one less Indie World a year so schedule kinda shifted. Last year it was April and November and in 2022 it was May and November.

So it's around 1-2 months before a General Direct.

Another fake direct from 4chan, seems that people are hungry for a real direct soon lol

Nothing here seems to far fetched, except maybe ac unity running acceptably on a switch. I adore that game, but it almost seemed to advanced for the consoles it was built for.

That feels a lot more realistic than the last one... but also does nothing for me outside of a Wonder update.

Also, Void doesn't seem like a subtitle for an MP game IMO.

One on hand, new Custom Robo and Vagrant Story remake are inspired choices.

On the other hand, Nintendo having like 10 first party games in the first seven months of 2024 and then just Metroid Prime 4 in the remaining five months is just abysmal for a fake leak. At least pace the games at believable intervals.

My favourite part of these fake leaks is seeing all the creative subtitles people come up with for Prime 4 and the FE4 Remake.

(Personally think they should've keep the "Echoes:" moniker but seems like that was unique for Valentia)

As far as 4chan text leaks go, I've definitely seen faker-looking ones

Not saying this is real, by any means. Just that it rings "a bit more plausible" to me than the usual 4chan nonsense

I appreciate the effort gone in to make sure that all the first party release dates are Thursdays while the third party ones are mostly Fridays
No chance we're getting a new Custom Robo though 😭

There is Fire Emblem in august, but yes, nothing for september and november seems very fake, unless we had a june direct, but I don't believe we will have 2 general direct so close.
