Weird how this times well with the "JRPG as an insult" conversation that was going on in another thread this week. I used to think he was cool when I was a kid but damn, fuck that dude.

I could've sworn I remembered him getting dragged for a lot of old shady shit that he refused to apologize for and was kind of a dick when confronted about a few years ago, too, so this isn't at all surprising.
 
I have been taking my switch when I take my kids to this indoor play area. It’s always too loud to really hear anything even with AirPods, so I’ve been playing puzzle games/NSO games that I know sound isn’t a super big component of the game. Anyhow, I started up Gorogoa (music and sound is important I’ve come to find out but can hear it well enough) and I have to say this game makes you feel like the most unintelligent person and then the most intelligent person once you figure out the idea. Really cool concept. Only issue is it can be a little guess and check style gameplay, but that does help give you an epiphany for how to do the rest of the puzzles.

Crazy how some people are still jokes 10+ years later, no self-awareness at all

That being said I sure hope this somehow translates to Baten Kaitos blowing up in sales, easily the best Monolith game

Been trying to get back into piano after a long while away, so I’ve been fiddling with some game music along with classical. What are everyone’s favorite piano game music tracks?

  • Someone posted the X-Play Baten Kaitos review from years ago, which basically did the whole "let's shit out asian stereotypes to dunk on both this game and the JRPG genre in general" approach, and said something about how bad it was that a review like that ever made it to air.
  • Sessler responded basically handwaving the criticism in a way that labeled the game as nothing but horny bait.
  • People pointed out that Sessler was defending a racist review by doubling down with another racist stereotype (this time ye olde "japanese media is horny" angle)
  • Sessler exploded in a multi-tweet thread, accusing those criticizing him as being everything from MAGA people with anime porn profile pictures to progressives just looking for someone they can call racist.
  • He went on to say that the decades he spent in gaming media was a complete waste of his life, as the whole of gaming culture was "insipid" and "an orgy of desperation."

Do you feel un-disappointed now? 😅

Yes. I am no longer disappointed. It is the job of members like yourself to dive into the depths of Twitter and report their findings so important people like myself don't have to risk brain rot down there. If you start to feel ill, just pull on the chain and I'll pull you back up. Unless I'm eating or sleeping or watching TV or something else.
