Remember what Necro said? A few days ago he said the picture will be more clear a few days later. I wonder what he knew? Because, now Nate knows the direct. Some game or something came up behind the scenes yesterday or today?

What if it's neither and it's the Switch 2 presentation, isn't knowing the kind of Direct usually hard to nail down? So being so sure of the format with no date, maybe it's something bigger. Maybe I'm just overthinking.
Yeah it’s usually hard to nail down unless Nate knows Metroid Prime 4 will be there, then he knows it’ll be a general direct and not a Mini for example

"Nintendo hatred" is when you correctly point out that "actually, Mario is a Donkey Kong character" but instead of praising you, the old ladies at the gym stuff you into a locker

it's also when Microsoft and Sony refuse to port their games to the Switch

also, whenever someone says "prestige" that's a nintendo hatred code word

also "scrimblo bimblo"

Mini Directs are also hatred against Nintendo fans

Do you think Nintendo feels like Prime 4 has to be shown off in a Switch Direct first since it was announced for Switch or do you think they'd show it off first for Switch 2 to show it at its best?

I feel like at this point Switch 2 needs to be priority because it's the major centerpiece of the next 7 years of their business, and making it successful requires creating as much hype as possible in the lead-up to launch. Revealing Prime 4 with Switch 2 generates conversation around both, whereas revealing Prime 4 beforehand generates a conversation which will subside somewhat by the time Switch 2 is revealed, where there might not be much to discuss besides graphical enhancements. If it's only a couple months between a potential Feb direct and the Switch 2 reveal, why not just wait?

We still don't know whether or not Metroid Prime 4 is exclusive to the first Switch.

I'll say this: if the next Switch-only Direct comes and Prime 4 is a no-show, then it will be on Switch 2.
I don't necessarily agree. It should come out for the Switch. Kind of a slap in the face for fans. If anything the focus could be Prime 4 for Switch 2 but it still gets a Switch 1 release.

Oh, I agree with you. I think it will be on Switch 1 no matter what, but if it's going to be on Switch 2, I think they'll wait to show it off for that platform to give it the most impressive spotlight they can. I was saying that if we don't see it in the last Switch-exclusive Direct, then we won't see it until they are ready to show Switch 2.

That said, I'm holding tight to my belief that it's a Switch 1 exclusive and will be playable on Switch 2 in the same way most Switch 1 games will be - backwards compatibility.

I basically expect it to be like how they handled BotW.

Knowing the format without the date is fascinating...Team Mini gets stronger, I guess?
Doesn't really prove that it's a mini, but it does suggest that Nintendo hasn't finalized a date. If anything, it actually leans further into "Switch 2 trailer first, Direct later for Switch 1 games post-reveal" theory.

Still doesn't actually... mean anything yet, but it's fun to think about at least.

It can mean whatever we want it to mean

Mmmh if Nate knows the format of the Direct this tells me it's a Mini because usually when it's a full Direct the opposite is true (he knows when but not the format).

Aw hell yeah, we're almost in delusion season again.

I don't want a repeat of November though. I'm not staying up until 2am in the morning to see a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement tweet. Never again.

Nate knowing the format but not the timing means we can now speculate whether it'll be a PAL Direct or a NTSC one.

NateDrake knowing the format but not the date is the opposite of what usually happens, so that's really interesting.

Unless like Dark Cloud suggested a bit back, he knows Prime 4 will be there, then it would have to be General.

Really starting to think Penny’s Big Breakaway is getting shadowdropped at the direct. It’s been getting a lot of news drops, we just got previews, and yet it still just has an early 2024 release window. Methinks some trickery is afoot.

wait so nate doesn’t know the date it might be late but it’s still up for debate nintendo might be wiping the slate for the switch 2 which is great and it gives us more time to speculate with our mates

He confirmed having information on it last year. So, I do wonder if he heard it’s going to be shown along with Hi Fi Rush in a direct. Leading to it being a General on the account of MP4

I gave enough of a description of the game I'm referring to without needing to name it, as my source didn't want me to name it but was fine with me mentioning MS' intent to bring games to other platforms. The day of reckoning will soon be upon us.

Who's talking about that arsehat? I have words...
The Nick guy that some people have been talking about apparently leaked his Direct info on that arsehat's show. At least according to the reddit threads from a couple pages ago.

There was also a tweet shared here from a guy named Paul Gale who was talking about having seen Metroid Prime 4 a while ago, and checking through the comments on his tweet it looks like he's also a person who appears on that show.

Papa John’s Splatoon 3 collab, I KNEW IT

@prizna

I was looking at if he knows Hi Fi Rush is going to be announced soon that’s not enough to tell you what kind of direct is coming. That could be a General, Mini or Partner. If the Zelda thing is true then that eliminates a Partner showcase.

But how do you eliminate a Mini? How can Nate, in his mind, say for sure “a Mini Direct has now been eliminated”? It would have to be a big game he knows will be shown in the direct. You can’t eliminate a General Direct because a General encompasses everything, unless he was told it is a Mini then well it’s a Mini lol.

Yeah I agree, it feels most likely that he knows of something big that will be there, that means it must be a general. I guess he could have been told it was a mini, but from past directs that doesn't really seem to happen.

Do we have any reliable pokemon day info yet? the only things I've seen so far were about riddler hinting at a unova and a johto game.
And then some pretty unbelievable rumors from 4chan saying how switch 2 would be revealed before said new pokemon games.

I haven’t seen anything.

Nate walked into this Direct clubhouse, announced he knew what the Direct would be, tossed the microphone over his shoulder and casually walked out the door. Baller!

Nintendo Prime hovering over this thread waiting for Nate to spill the beans like Andross floating over the Lylat system.

Ew nasty

Weirdly enough, I think this is the first direct where I don't feel impatient for when they announce it. It'll happen soon, and all the currently announced games that will for sure be there like TTYD will be nice to get updates on. That will happen if it's a mini or not, I don't really care.

I imagine if it is a mini, regardless of length it will have some pretty significant reveals. They don't have much announced for this year, less than usual even, but I think even though the Switch is slowing down doesn't mean there won't be some more late new releases that aren't just ports/remasters/remakes.
