This would be a brilliant strategy. Splatoon 3 players will almost universally have a base subscription, so the offer of an eventual (or perhaps even immediate) campaign with the expansion would be very compelling. I'll now be surprised if this doesn't happen.Should we continue adding DLC to the Expansion Pack for future games? (Splatoon 3?)
I think subscription services will be the future of indie games. You would be surprised how many people discover indie games because they found them on GamePass. Years ago, it was easier for an indie game like Mutant Mudds to find an audience. But today, most indie games fail to get noticed. There's too many indie games releasing each week, the market has become way too competitive.

what if the Splatoon 3 DLC
was ONLY available through the Expansion Pack
deep sighNintendo Direct: 2.10. 22
Splatoon 3 SP Expansion + Release Date: July 21, 2022
SP Expansion NSO + EP Exclusive
Nintendo's DLC has been getting better over time, but I think Animal Crossing DLC, and Smash Ultmate's DLC was really good.what do people generally prefer? the splatoon 2/arms/mario tennis style free updates but original release is kind of light?
animal crossing, which was kind of a hybrid between doing THAT and also adding paid dlc?
or like botw, three houses, mua3, age of calamity, etc where the games seemed very feature complete at release but only had paid dlc?

god how embarrassing for me to miss smash, but yah i'd put that in bucket 3. i think its the one i prefer.Nintendo's DLC has been getting better over time, but I think Animal Crossing DLC, and Smash 5's DLC was really good.
Halo Halo Halo Halo Halo Halo Haloso whats everyone playing over holiday break?
Octo Expansion was pretty solid too.Nintendo's DLC has been getting better over time, but I think Animal Crossing DLC, and Smash Ultmate's DLC was really good.
I'll likely still be getting through Shin Megami Tensei V and Halo Infinite. I've got The Last Campfire and Psychonauts 2 as well, and supposedly No More Heroes 3 Collector's Edition should still arrive this year from Pix n Love...so whats everyone playing over holiday break?
Currently The Great Ace Attorney 2 and Infamous Second Second. The latter was € 10, its fun to throw around super powersso whats everyone playing over holiday break?
Currently? SRW X, and FFIX are my focus, want to put some time into hardcore mecha as well and I did just get in Danganropa and Sakuna so I may mess with thoseso whats everyone playing over holiday break?
I have a list!so whats everyone playing over holiday break?

The problem is what happens to those who still want to use the DLC.Octo Expansion was pretty solid too.
I could also see them rotating the included DLC annually.
Seconded.I would say BOTW style for majority of games.
But games like Splatoon / Mario Kart, if new levels/features added over time I'd keep playing for longer.
Could also say this split is single player versus multi player games but I'm sure there would be some eventual cross over
A friend of mine got me a code for Borderlands 3 so I'm expanding my gaming horizons.so whats everyone playing over holiday break?
so whats everyone playing over holiday break?
@Derachi hahahaha bread anime has a pastiche of Truth by T-Square when it mentions F1 racing (timestamped)
edit: I can't get the timestamp to work all. it's 12:24
Your point about Splatoon 3 has spawned a new fear in me. What if Nintendo starts putting what was previously free content behind the more expensive NSO tier?I don't even know where to begin.
Nintendo looks at your NSO data and asks questions like:
Nintendo has had games that were commercially successful, but they didn't move the needle on subscriptions.
- Do NSO members spend more time/money playing multiplayer or single player games?
- Based on this data, should we greenlight more multiplayer or single player games?
- What games increased subscriptions for NSO? Which games did not and why?
- "Why did we see an uptick in new NSO subscribers from Monster Hunter?"
- What % of NSO members downloaded the NES/SNES/N64/Genesis apps. (30%? 45%? 55%?)
- What is the average time that NSO members spent in these retro gaming apps?
- Which retro games are they playing in these apps?
- What % of NSO members downloaded "Happy Home Paradise?"
- What impact does DLC have on subscription numbers?
- Should we continue adding DLC to the Expansion Pack for future games? (Splatoon 3?)
I'm wondering this too. Maybe the Splatoon 3 campaign will be day one DLC. Probably not, but with the Expansion Pack it very well could happen.Your point about Splatoon 3 has spawned a new fear in me. Eww.I'm wondering this too. Maybe the Splatoon 3 campaign will be day one DLC. Probably not, but with the Expansion Pack it very well could happen.
Would be a marketing mess since they already started promoting the campaign as part of the game in the previous direct. Would also just be a shitty move in general so i'm glad it has no chance of happening, lol.I'm wondering this too. Maybe the Splatoon 3 campaign will be day one DLC. oh fair pointWould be a marketing mess since they already started promoting the campaign as part of the game in the previous direct. Would also just be a shitty move in general so i'm glad it has no chance of happening, lol.
I don't expect anything different from Splatoon 3 in regards to post-launch support. If there's a Octo Expansion-equivalent expansion in 2023 perhaps that would be part of the Expansion Pack down the road.
Should add that Prime 4 and Breath of the Wild 2 also show up in the search; My guess it's that this list is somewhat tied to eShop data, so those games probably have pages in the server but they're not up for public view yet! Thanks to @CyberWolfJV for the heads up about this, and also the pictures!
The CD generation feature in the upcoming Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is reworked to no longer require physical CDs (naturally, can't exactly insert a disk into your Switch after all), and instead connects to a large database of not just music CDs, but also games. PlayStation and Sega Saturn games are included (as they would've been usable with the original release), but Switch titles are as well. The interesting thing there is that it includes multiple games that haven't released yet; Advance Wars 1+2, Bayonetta 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land; but also the barely announced Detective Pikachu project, which the game calls 'Untitled Detective Pikachu sequel".
The initial reveal was unclear on what exactly the title is, but here at least the game is being deemed a sequel. The list also includes the still unlocalised Buddy Mission BOND; which, you know, I hope Nintendo get around to releasing in English sometime.
You're the biggest Monster Rancher fan I know, so this might be of interest to you @L Thammy
People can just buy the DLC. They made a big point with the AC DLC of what still works if your subscription lapses prior to the release. The problem is what happens to those who still want to use the DLC.
The one thing Nintendo should probably get more credit for with NSO is that the games added to classic services are permanent. No FOMO there. (So far)
I'd say higher than they have ever been, but still not that high, unfortunately.So....what're the chances of Xenoblade being at the Game Awards....
I really do think Geoff has gotten a bad rap here. In my opinion all of his statements on the Activision situation have been very appropriate.Geoff, from The Keighleys fame, talked a bit more in his Reddit AMA about the Keighleys and I lost some quick time compiling interesting stuff for those who are interested:
"The 4-5 Elden Ring type premieres comment....everyone will have their own interpretation of that. Elden Ring was an announced game already that we showed first gameplay on. It wasn't a brand new reveal. We have a LOT of new game announcements tomorrow (I think more than 10), and some are really big/triple A level stuff. We also have a lot of good gameplay reveals too, some extended premieres. One is over 6 minutes long.
Will it live up to your expectations? I'm not sure. That ER comment was more that we have a lot of variety in the show and I think 4-5 really big/meaningful announcements/first looks etc.
I'm sure you won't get everything you want though! That's just how life goes lol"
"He's never too far from my shows!"
"We might have something Kpop related tomorrow night for you "
"Yeah I think we're showing something more on that tomorrow night!"
"I do!"
"Yep we're thinking a lot about this and how we could do some good. I've thought about doing some kind of award/recognition for this, the real question is how do you evaluate this? Do you survey employees? Have an independent group explore it? We could totally do a "Best Workplace" Award potentially, I'd just want to figure out a really fair and good way to judge that. Open to ideas, but love the sentiment."
"There are a few games in the show this year that are the result of 2019 conversations. (A lot of stuff was delayed last year). Most of our deals happen in the summer after the SGF timeframe."
"That's a great question! I'm not sure. I guess getting the Breath of the Wild gameplay for the first show in 2014 will always have a special place in my heart."
"People are certainly free to say what they want at the show. I'm trying to figure out the best way to address what's going on generally, and I certainly don't want to ignore it. But we're also a show about celebrating games and the industry, so it's a delicate balance. Hopefully it's ok to say I'm still figuring it out and trying to be thoughtful about it?
We have I think 3 or 4 movie/tv related things -- The Sonic movie, The Halo series, The Matrix are big ones. It's kind of cool how the movie/game/streaming worlds are all coming together."
"I think there's a general misunderstanding of the advisory board on the show. They have ZERO power related to the show. They are advisors, they aren't a board of directors, I don't answer to them. I own The Game Awards 100%.
Of course they are all big/important players in gaming so we care what they think, but it's not like the advisory board approves my scripts or decides on show content.
We started that board back in 2014, and the basic point was to get all the platforms and all the major publishers to back Game Awards as an official thing. It was needed when I was starting on my own, and it was important to have full industry support behind TGA.
Moving forward I'm definitely thinking about how to evolve our plans -- and new voices to add into the mix too. Today a lot of developer-publishers are making huge waves on their own and don't need to go through a publisher to reach the audience."
edit: yeah he ain't gonna call acti out like he did konami
I made this with some synths and my launchpad. and a fuckton of plugins assigned to the knobs and sliders on my midi drum controller.
This is what I've been doing the past two nights...

I’m not a doctor, but no! Worrying never helped anything and it’s definitely not gonna start now!So my wife got her Pfizer booster like a month ago and we all just got over a cold, but she's now saying she feels like her tongue and throat are stinging like they would be after burning them with hot food and even though her sense of taste is perfectly fine she's worried that this somehow means she has COVID. We also love in an area with a pretty low case rate, even now.
Should I/she be worried? She'll probably get tested in the morning.
