Someone said 4 Fire Emblem games have opened a direct. If I had to bet money I’m putting it on Fire Emblem 4 opening this direct.

Yep. If it's gonna be there, then it being the opener is kinda expected. I really hope so!

They announced MP4 for the Switch, they won't show gameplay for the first during the Switch 2 presentation lmao. They have to re-reveal the game first for the original console. It could just be a simple teaser like they did in June 2021 with TotK.
Exactly, we getting a CGI trailer tomorrow.

TRUST THE FUCKING PROCESS YALL

I’ve seen some folks bring up Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid Dread at E3 2017 and E3 2019 were not announced at the of the direct. There’s context missing though. E3 2017 had GOTG candidate Super Mario Odyssey and nothing would end the direct over that. E3 2019 had GOTG candidate TOTK and nothing would end the direct over that.

None of that exists now. There’s no Mario or Zelda (possible 2D Zelda though). So, it would be the biggest game that exists to end on.

My biggest hopium right now is that Pyoro asking what will close the direct was actually a hint that we’re in a TotK 2019 reveal situation.

Pyoro was looking over his infinite knowledge of the upcoming direct and where the closer would be is just a gap. A blank spot of nothingness.

Then tomorrow, that nothingness slowly starts to fill with blue stars…

I was expecting Prime 4 to drop in Spring, but if the Succ is launching as early as May-Sept (which would make sense since it allows them ample time for multiple 1st-party releases before the holidays), they may as well wait. They don't have a whole lot to gain by dropping it 4-5 months before a console launch, do they?

If that's the case, I would guess the earliest it releases is a month or 2 after Switch2 to avoid being overshadowed by whatever more mainstream launch game there is, 3D Mario or Mario Kart.

My post got me thinking of E3 2017 and that super Mario Odyssey trailer.

Just amazing. This game got overshadowed by BotW, but it’s one of the best games ever.

There is always the chance they want Wonder to be one of the bookends. It would be underwhelming given how much we've seen already, but it is the big holiday title, and seems plausible.

I don’t agree. It’s different because that got its own direct already. I can see a trailer, but definitely not to close. If it didn’t get its own direct, playtime and previews then I’d agree it would close.

i remember live reactions thinking it was Monster Hunter at first with the dinosaur moving into view. World getting announced for PS4/XBOX still stung a little at the time and people were hoping Capcom would show up with a big Monster Hunter game.

Hmmm so Peach is the march game. Makes sense. Then Metroid Prime 4 is May!! #TTP

It's definitely a nightmare and we all gonna wake up tomorrow when Metroid Prime 4 closes the Direct. #TTP

Seriously tho there isn't a single insider that ever knew about everything. We've had Tears of the Kingdom at E3 2019, last Direct we got Luigi's Mansion 3 and Princess Peach, I think it's likely that if Nintendo is finally gonna show MP4 they're keeping it as close to their chest as possible, just like TotK last September.

It's inevitable!! It seriously is something unique and deserves so much to have another chance.

YES

I seriously would forgive MP4 if they closed the Direct with Astral Chain 2.

Astral Chain 2 being the second to last thing just like 1 was would be the dream tho.
YESSS FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS HOW TOKYO MIRAGE SESSIONS DESERVES MORE LOVE

It did, and it probably depends what else is on the docket. But it's a mainline Mario platformer releasing as the big holiday game, coming off the movie among a slate that seems mostly filled with rereleases and spin-offs. I'd prefer something else, but I'm not counting it out.

Though one of the bookends doesn't necessarily mean the closer.

I remember. Someone thought it was Turok lol

If anything it would have been feedback from Three Houses success that caused them to greenlight it, but I suspect it was being planned even before that, assuming Imran Khan was right about there being another 3DS remake that was cancelled.
I'd wager it has at least been in their minds for almost a decade now, given that FE15 / the FE2 remake started development in 2015. The main reason I say this is that they gave the FE2 remake the title Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia rather than just Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia. I cannot fathom they'd come up with a unique subtitle for Fire Emblem remakes only for them to do a single release under that branding.

Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild were both crossgen games, and we got plenty of pre-release footage of them being played on the original hardware they were announced for.

We know for a fact that Metroid Prime 4 is still releasing for Switch, and it would be really odd if we don't see the Switch version at all and they jump straight to Switch 2 footage.

Someone said 4 Fire Emblem games have opened a direct. If I had to bet money I’m putting it on Fire Emblem 4 opening this direct.

but then that would make 5 which would be weird for a FE4 remake

clearly the only solution is to have two Fire Emblem games, a different one to open with and then close with FE4

the only people who care about splatoon enough to mention it also care enough to know that datamining suggests it's been pushed out to spring

This could be completely from my ass since I'm not keeping up with Splatoon 3, but I could have sworn I saw talk of datamines implying it may have been delayed or something?

Splatoon 2 had a bunch of info datamined each update before the DLC came out, and the eshop temp date is 2024. Between these two things people think it's not within the first 3 months of 2024 and thus not part of this direct.
Oh I completely missed that! Bummer. I'm really excited for it. Octo Expansion was top tier.

I fee like the original intention was to have every FE remake have Echoes in the title but then everyone just refers to Shadows of Valentia as Fire Emblem Echoes so the Echoes title is now permanently attached to that game.

People bring these comparisons up a lot, but TP and BotW were very unique circumstances where the cross-gen period was between two systems with fairly similar power (maybe 2x power for the new system)

The Switch 2 will be much more powerful than the Switch 1 and thus Prime 4 should look very different on the Switch 2 if it's a cross-gen game.

People saying FE4 remake or peach game or a big 3rd party as the last reveal but like, Nintendo always has big games as the finale

As a Metroid huge fan,I'd be delighted if we had an announcement on this subject, but I absolutely wouldn't understand why not mentioning MP4 should be seen as a huge disappointment. Between Metroid Dread, which is perhaps one of the Switch's best games at all, and the polished remaster of Prime 1, we can't say we're being neglected. On the other hand, we know that MP4 exists and will arrive, it's not a hope, it's not a speculation, it's a fact. For this reason, I would be much more moved by an announcement concerning F-Zero, DK, or even less likely Kid Icarus or Starfox than I would be disappointed by a lack of announcement about Metroid.

It's a bit like the impatience around the Wii U Zelda ports. We'll get them, we've had a lot as Zelda fans on Switch, it's going to be fine, why be so impatient about it? I love The Wind Waker infinitely, but like MP4, I know we'll get it eventually. What would make me very happy is a brand new 2D Zelda. I know we won't get it at the next Direct, but I'd certainly be more moved and upset by its announcement than by that of any remake.

I doubt it at this point. Echoes has pretty firmly come to just refer to the Gaiden remake. Celica in Engage is the emblem of Echoes and one of her Engage abilities is called Echo. In Heroes the game is just referred to as "Echoes" when it's a bonus title in game modes, not "Shadows of Valentia".

I honestly think the games title in the west will just be Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, with it maybe being something like "Shin Seisen no Keifu" (New Genealogy of the Holy War) in Japan like FE12 being New Mystery of the Emblem.

yeah that comparison doesn't work because they basically look the same on both systems they were released for.

seems like marketing 101 but a new, much more powerful next-gen system you want to make sure it's sold with experiences that are only possible on that system. doesn't mean no cross-gen but cross-gen titles are not the selling point. and lets say MP4 is a launch title (i doubt it would be the main one) you don't reveal it on the previous system first that's just silly.

someone mentioned CGI trailer maybe yes, something that leaves the door open to cross-gen and doesn't show any gameplay. but again after this long ass wait a teaser like this maybe wouldn't be the best look. might as well wait.

seems like they've kinda embraced that themselves at this point too with that whole "emblem of echoes" thing in engage

Since we’re looking at Pyoro’s leaks he did like Princess Peach Showtime. Either that’s close to the name or someone just hit the name on the head?

Because in the June direct he just told us “Wonderful” for Mario Wonder.

Edit I think he did say the name in Japanese which was an interesting choice…
