Legit I'm getting a bit tired of this happening with so many things. Just wish I could sit down and enjoy the game uninterrupted like many of ya'll are doing but, here I am, playing a relatively tiny bit every day whilst everyone speeds by me and has more fun
I just finished the tutorial! Talk to me!

Probably not. The only one I can think of that comes close is Final Fantasy 4: It's pretty short too (20-25 hours?), and was one of the first JRPGs to have much of a story and characters of any kind, so it's kind of a blueprint of where the genre went later on and is a foundational game. So it's short and breezy and a good introductory JRPG, but it's definitely more dated than Chrono Trigger and has a lot more friction to it, which makes sense given how much older it is.Just wondering — is there a better short/breezy/introductory traditional jRPG than Chrono Trigger, even now? The only other ones that come to mind are Dragon Quest I and IV, and both are much more dated than CT.
(Undertale and the NieR games are too deconstructive for this category.)
This happen to me with Octopath 2 (to the point I cannot start that game) and now that a little with TOTK. It sucks specially when it happens out of nowhere.

Just realized, sorry @Derachi forgot to @you that I got it in! Time for my first go at this era as I’ve only read the og run of Kinnikuman a few years back(not this or the continuation)yay, got in my rsa Discotek preorders. Probably the last batch for a while till they have some crazy announcements tho
Pssstt, Discotek, get Nintendo to let the finished F-Zero GP dub out of the vault
No we need Hetsu preferably right next to a volcano to throw him in
Why what's Twitter talki-Twitter... do we need to have a talk?
Super Mario RPG is also pretty solid. Both games need to be more available again.Just wondering — is there a better short/breezy/introductory traditional jRPG than Chrono Trigger, even now? The only other ones that come to mind are Dragon Quest I and IV, and both are much more dated than CT.

I watched a few streamers and youtubers play some of the intro to Tears of the Kingdom and many got emotional when they first arrive back in Hyrule. It's been six years since BOTW but I think that gap of time is long enough that people have actually grown nostalgic for that version of Hyrule so when they returned, it felt like returning home to many of them.
Good call, I don't know how I forgot SMRPG since it was literally my first RPG. I guess it is a bit less traditional with the timed hits and Mario trappings and focus, but I can't think of a better "intro RPG" than it.Super Mario RPG is also pretty solid. Both games need to be more available again.
Yeah the Zelda DLC announcement (or the trailer for the last part or something)Zelda is gonna sweep the game awards in december. Which means Nintendo will have at least 2 game announcements.

Not sure I wanna make one myself, but that sounds like a good idea otherwise! It might clutter Treehouse with Zelda threads, but that's for the creator to decide. If you want to make a thread for those of us in the slow lane, I’ll right be there with you

Seriously, though. Hope for the best for you.

Thanks I'm definitely a bit further than the tutorial, but the idea I had of playing the game a ton each day just hasn't come up, and out of nowhere as well. It does suck, but what I've done today is have a break and build some Lego to hopefully make returning to the game a bit easier. It took me ~5 months of finishing Xenoblade 3. Playing since launch, and kinda not anything else during that time.
I won't be done with TotK when my kids unwrap their christmas presents this year.
So i'm here for you.
I'm sorry to read that.

Yeah, I loved FF4 (well, SNES FF2) as a teen, but every time I revisit it it falls further and further in my esteem. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone now except for the historical/completionist reasons now (although the music is still great).Probably not. The only one I can think of that comes close is Final Fantasy 4: It's pretty short too (20-25 hours?), and was one of the first JRPGs to have much of a story and characters of any kind, so it's kind of a blueprint of where the genre went later on and is a foundational game. I agree about SMRPG and FFIV.Super Mario RPG is also pretty solid. Both games need to be more available again.
I... hadn't even considered that, yeah that's not great. I figured most people probably knew that by now (or at least those playing TOTK), but if not, I hope no one takes that the wrong way! Minor spoilers in the quoted post here, something revealed like immediately after the tutorial in TOTK if you want more context. It took me ~5 months of finishing Xenoblade 3. Playing since launch, and kinda not anything else during that time.
I won't be done with TotK when my kids unwrap their christmas presents this year.

I feel like it's REALLY important to add the context that Purah is an adult again in TotK, otherwise this comes off extremely problematic for a lot of tweets if one is not aware that she's not a little child anymore. ^^
But i also don't know if that's something you could consider a spoiler ... and i don't wanna piss off people.
I grabbed Killer is Dead for 2,99€ and am restraining myself from buying more.Hm I should grab a dead or alive game in the current Xbox sale since I never break out my old hardware… but which one
Wait there’s a tutorial? I think my Link is the village idiot and is way way off the beaten path.I'm definitely a bit further than the tutorial
FuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccccccccckI just realized that the Prince of Persia Remake isn't on that list. Wasn't that game originally supposed to come out like... two and a half years ago?
- Mirage looks like it could be more of a style of AC I might actually be interested in trying out again, so some mild optimism there
- Everything else: Don't care
- Skull and Bones: Yeah, sure, lol
Watch it being another Assassin's CreedHopefully the last large game is a new Immortals game. Otherwise, lmao.
I hope there will be a Switch version!I can’t wait for Another Large Game, the newest installment in the Large Game series
Ugh.Watch it being another Assassin's Creed
It changed developers like a year ago (from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal) and, while they didn't call it a development reboot, the fact that pretty much the only thing they said since the announcement is that they don't really know when it will be released makes it seem like it was one, or at least something close to it.I just realized that the Prince of Persia Remake isn't on that list.
