So obviously the next step of Mario Movie is to create a fighting game with cg graphics a la Sf2 right? "Super Mario Bros: The Movie: The game"

Man, if some people made a fuss about Mario's butt being nerfed in the movie, I can't imagine their reaction if the same happened to Twintelle.

Mario and nintendo are really iconic here, from the classic "every console videogame is 'el nintendo'" to the fact that for a long time it was the only videogame presence we had

Just got out of John Wick 4. Awesome movie but why do people go to the theater if they’re going to text on their phones the whole time. You can do that shit at home and save $20-$30.
 
found out today that if you load a save state that was made before you made an actual save file in the GBA online app (and i assume all the other ones as well), your save file will get erased and replaced by what was there when you made the save state. lost a couple hours of progress in minish cap due to this.

This happened on Super Mario World on SNES classic for me once. I just stick to one of the other now (usually save states only)
 
Gonna be two weeks until I can see the Mario Movie :( I mean, I’m seeing it on a nice screen in London, but it’s still annoying.

Y’all better not spoil me on whether Mario defeats Bowser in this one. Personally I’m expecting the film to be a harrowing essay on the proliferation of evil and human cruelty. One where Bowser, the personification of systemic violence and the dehumanisation inherent within a colonialist autocracy, fights - and ultimately succeeds - against the proletariat, powerless Mario Bros. A story inspired by the likes of Blood Meridian, or Heart of Darkness, to name but a few. So if one of you tells me that Mario just ‘defeats’ Bowser, and the film ends with a ‘happy’ ending, I’m gonna be pissed off.

Sympathy yeah! I had this happen decades ago with a NES emulator (nesticle i think) in Earthbound Beginnings and lost several hours of progress. It hurts.
 
I don't normally care about Nintendo being bitchy about emulation stuff but man, the main reason I got my Xbox was for emulation in retail mode. This sucks. Assuming this is the legit main reason for it.

This blew my mind when I played Majora's Mask 3D a few months ago. I always hated the Gyorg fight in the N64 version as a kid, and yet they somehow managed to make it significantly worse in the remake.

The Twinmold fight in the 3DS version sucks too. The first time I tried it, it dragged on for so long that I ran out the clock for the first and only time in the whole playthrough.

It would be very weird for an official Xbox QA email to specifically name another company. They normally keep things generic and non-specific. It's still possible but it it's true, then it's probably against protocol and someone is in trouble.

This is more or less an aside, but I'm not a fan of this trend of box office reporting. Current domestic/international gross, and standing relative to other films of this year / all-time are useful, easy-to-understand metrics. Cherry-picking specific statistics where a record has been broken is not. Obviously this movie has been and will continue to be very successful, but "biggest opening for an animated movie in 11+ markets" doesn't actually tell me how much of a success it is, not least because I don't even know which markets they're talking about lol

It's like when you see a movie celebrate getting the second-highest opening from a non-superhero film opening on a non-holiday weekend in September. There's so many qualifiers there I don't even know whether that's a big achievement or not

Between this and the changes to Zora swimming and the ice arrows they really fucked up this whole section of the game. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this version of MM in the future, whereas OOT3D is the definitive version for me. MM3D feels like Aonuma trying to “fix” a game he wasn’t particularly proud of to begin with.

Finally defeated that boss I’ve been stuck on for a month in Labyrinth of Galleria, and now I’m onto the postgame. It’s been an incredible journey.
 
When Advance Wars Reboot Camp was announced in 2021, I thought I'd pick it up eventually but maybe during a sale. Then when the game was delayed because a stupid fuckface decided to go his ass kicked in Ukraine, I said that I felt bad for the devs and that would I buy the game at launch day. Well I just put in my pre-order. The recently released artwork got me pretty hyped.

Mario movie was a blast! And on the way out I discovered the mall now has an awesome arcade has this!

Well I had a grail kit find today! Was poking around at some random shops after I went to the movies and lo and behold! Never thought I'd ever run across one of these as it was a 2000 Aoshima kit that I doubt ever got a reprint. It being the silver version is fine since the color scheme sucked so paint was needed anyways. Doubt I'll frequent their shop tho, the markups on the modern stuff was terrible(like 90$ for HG Getter Arc!). This was a fine price tho. Normally I wouldn’t do a non-Bandai kit this old but the odds of a new Neo getter kit are insanely low. Heck Getter Robo Go only has slightly higher odds(tho I wouldn’t rule it out for Infinitism, but it would be a different style)

One review I listened to said that watching the Mario movie made him start having urges to play a Mario game as soon as the movie ended. Working as intended

Congrats! I'm much further now, getting toward the end of the game... I think?

Any tips for grinding out materials? I'm trying to finish off some requests like Bocklin's, but I need three cassowary feathers and apparently they're only available as the rarest item in the crimson transept which seems kind of ridiculous.

Yeah, you’re just gonna want to carry a lot of mana into the labyrinth with you for the rarer drops. Another one later on is salt, which you can get from the salt enemies, but the best way to find them is to take a bunch of mana into Narthex B6 and fight the purple enemies. Sometimes they’ll have salt with them.

But you really need to do Bocklin’s quest before you fight the boss I just finished. The other thing is: there are 35 curios in the labyrinth and you want every single one in order to access the postgame.
 
Random Amazon best sellers check.

Tears of the Kingdom continues to be the top selling game. The Zelda OLED is the best selling system skew, followed by God of War PS5 bundle, then by the Mario Switch bundle. I did see the Forza Xbox Series X bundle among the top 50 gaming items a few days ago but I don't see it anymore. I've never seen the Series S on the best sellers list and I think the way Amazon tracks that particular system is weird. It doesn't even show up in the Xbox specific top sellers.

Edit: Actually I do now see the Fortnite Series S bundle in the Xbox top sellers. But no base Series S.

Same reason when i go to concerts and see people buried in their phones. Some people don't want to unplug, ever for such a short time. It's dumb and annoying.

Love John Wick 4. One of my favorite action films of all time.
 
Bad news: living in a cute old house is finally biting us, as the pipes are starting to go bad.

Good news: we called a plumber today to check it all out and the dude showed up in blue coveralls and a red cap.

It’s frustrating there isn’t even one of them on Switch. Just seems like a missed opportunity that the smaller Nintendo eshop games mostly disappeared. Really glad we have Box Boy and Part Time UFO at least.
