Basically, Orville Redenbacher started a switch giveaway contest close to the last Direct (in September), and the contest ends on Feb 2, which obviously is in the ballpark of when the Direct could be. I posted it as a joke theory, but it has picked up steam since people are uncovering more tidbits of news.
 
as funny as a february 1st direct would be, I think it would be more likely to be announced on the 1st and air on the 2nd (depending on time zones)

Well yeah, manifesting expectations which turn into a lead brick that adheres itself to the gas pedal of the Nintendo hype train in the blink of an eye, to then commence the eventual, inevitable and self-destructive crash that is the unavoidable fate of Direct speculation, goes without words.

We might get a TOTK story trailer + a Treehouse after the Direct. It's literally what the entire gaming world expects, and Nintendo definitely knows that.
It's time to show the game.

The Direct will be on my birthday next week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of me, with a Serif themed Game & Watch 😤

I'm starting to image a Direct with Pikmin 4, Zelda Totk, Metroid Prime 4 and F-Zero. WOAH.
 
I can't believe we're finally getting Advance Wars lol Hopefully I'll manage to grab me a physical copy

Imagine it this game turns into a sales success fue to word of mouth about being the cursed war game

So I have an idea about one last giveaway, and once again something that isn't that much predictable.

First I thought about something with Takahashi's outfit lol but that's boring, either grey or black jacket and shirt. So I figured that something like predict the exact lenght of the Direct (you would also be able to use seconds) would be interesting? Yeah, they always say "roughly xx minutes" but they always go beyond or less than that. The giveaway would obviously end before the expected timeframe would be announced so it will be more difficult. Or something like predict exact lengh of first full TotK trailer? I don't know, give me your ideas on anything. Thanks so much.

F-Zero GX. They will reveal it in February for a June release, and it will fill the spot the multiplayer Mario games have been taking.

I believe the rumor for Baten Kaitos mentioned an E3 reveal, so I imagine it will be there for an August/September release. Nintendo has announced every Metroid game at E3 at least since I’ve been paying attention (2005) so I think both Prime and Prime 4 will be there in June. As for Kid Icarus, I’m not really feeling it releasing very soon, so I think the soonest we see it is in September for an early 2024 launch

Wouldn't it be better before the tweet? For example they say it's roughly 45 minutes so most people would actually use the 45 minutes and just add seconds to it. Also after the tweet it would be so much hype here that it would be forgotten right away, not to mention that when tweet arrives the thread closes, but could do it in the thread that someone makes after.

nice to be in Direct Speculation season again.
February Direct of some sort feels very likely for with there being one every year for the last 5, and 11 of the last 12 years (2018 had a Jan Mini and March Direct).

Hopefully a couple nice surprises are in store, even if the yearly E3 Direct is still upcoming in a few months
