All this caution and pessimism towards Nintendo's 2023 is gonna look mighty silly when the next Direct features the announcement of Nintendo x Capcom in all its AAA, RE Engine-powered glory.

Also before this gets out of hand, I was merely joking because he was always overenthusiastic and making unrealistic predictions. It was not "hate" lol.
wasn't referring to you, I would have quoted you if I was. I was just referring to the general direction the thread was heading in, "lol" ;)

tho the creator the convo has shifted towards fully deserves it, just perhaps not the airtime

looking forward your music ! i'm a musician myself and have tons of project for 2023 to release on my youtube channel and other streaming services !
Thank you, and that’s awesome! If you end up wanting to share some of your work, send it my way over PM and I’d be happy to give it a listen :D

I honestly expect 2023 to be more like 2018/20/21 than 17/19/22. More re-releases, probably more lower-budget games, with one truly giant game in there for good measure.

But I do think we'll get a good mix of franchises and genres, at least.

zelda releasing when it is throws me off in terms of year end predictions because I feel similarly

I am officially predicting that Pikmin 4 will have some sort of online coop. Hoping that it would work better than EPD10's Maker 2.

Seriously, me too, but seeing people (not necessarily here, but in general) so bummed and so sure that (not counting TotK) it's gonna be a dull year for Nintendo just makes me want to be a bit contrarian.

A year with Pikmin 4 and Bayonetta Origins is anything but dull.

You joke, but Nintendo Vs Capcom is a God-damned dream game of mine.

But like, we’re getting a Fire Emblem, Zelda and a new Pikmin. Those 3 titles alone elevate it 17/19/22 for me. Toss in the highly rumored Metroid Prime and DK? That’s a core Nintendo fan’s wet dream.

When you say "fully deserves it" do you mean Roger or B!t Bl0ck?

I'm not saying the year is going to be bad, but last year and 2019 (and to a lesser extent 2017) had a higher proportion of new titles than 2018/2021 etc. That's the comparison I'm making; mostly because it's the end of the work day and I don't want to get bogged down in a year comparison. It's too early in the year to make a snap judgement on quality or personal appeal; I'm just expecting Nintendo to lean more on re-releases this year (and the rumour mill really supports that, even if we'll need to wait for a Direct to be sure).

The new titles confirmed for this year are all must-buys for me, apart from Bayonetta Origins which is still a firm maybe. Throw in third parties and indies and the year's bound to be excellent, yet again, even if Nintendo are more interested in putting old stuff out than they were last year.

2023 will probably be the Zelda/2D Mario/Fire Emblem/Pikmin show with a couple of smaller titles and a LOT of DLC in between. Yeah yeah I know it's pessimistic.

Just checked BB's channel and I didn't see Roger on his most recent vids, I haven't checked his second channel yet.
Yeah he actually stopped uploading to TBB for two years, he plans on coming back to grow it this year or some shit? He did a discussion with Roger on SNW on the second channel, and Roger still shows up in his stream chat on occasion

I know. You're preaching to the choir here, but to many if it doesn't have a couple of the "big ones" (read: Zelda, Mario, Smash) then it ain't good enough.

You joke, but Nintendo Vs Capcom is a God-damned dream game of mine.
Heh, mine too, that's precisely why I used it there.

Yeah I don't really get the hate for Arlo either. He clearly isn't some kind of super in depth video game journalist/critic, but it's not like he pretends to be either. Most of his content is just pretty light & watchable takes on various topics that he's interested in. It's not gonna appeal to everyone but there's nothing inherently offensive about it to me.
I feel the problem comes from his output to make predictions and theories while being somewhat uninformed but speaking in a tone as if it's super logical and the truth. If you're making content about an industry and a topic to inform people but it turns out to be untrue by searching five minutes online then yes some people might criticize you. Like sometimes he really spins his opinions into facts and rambles on a topic without any structure or preparation (that's how it feels like if he does...).

It could legitimately be one of the more interesting and varied years on Switch simply because of genre and series mix. Advance Wars finally reappearing two years after the announcement and after over a decade away; Metroid Prime back; F Zero potentially back for the first time in two decades.

2022 was excellent for me but if I'm taking a step back and trying to assess things a little more dispassionately, genre wise it leant a little heavily on RPG (2 Pokemons, Xenoblade, plus Live Alive, Triangle Strategy, Sunbreak as high-profile quasi-exclusives) and RPG-adjacent things (Fire Emblem Warriors, arguably Sparks of Hope).

This year we might get first-person 'adventure', open world Zelda, turn-based strategy of both the Wars and the Emblem variety, racing that isn't Kart, whatever the fuck genre Bayonetta Origins is. Even an F Zero GX re-release would be Nintendo's first non-Kart racing release in what, a decade? More?

As someone who doesn't believe in the Metroid Prime or F-Zero rumors (I want to, but I refuse to get burned again), I don't think this year will be super interesting. This year will get hard carried by Zelda, DLC (Mario + Rabbids, Mario Kart, Xenoblade, and Splatoon specifically), and indies. Maybe a third party title or two. And that's completely okay, last year was absolutely nuts with games perfect for me.

Dr Mario 99 feels super possible to me but I'd prefer Super Mario Kart 99

Or Mario Kart Super Circuit 99 just to fuck with everyone
How Chocobo GP handles it's 64 player online mode is what I'd like to see a Mario Kart Battle Royale do.

F-ZERO 99...
F ZERO makes the most sense for this and 99 was kinda what I expected when talk started about the series coming back. It'd be the most Nintendo Fuck You imaginable.

F ZERO is back... in 99 form!

the six fans screaming for high end big budget F ZERO riot

whenever someone says “it’s time to” before anything my mind automatically goes to dd-d-d-ddddddd-duel
Yeah, me too lol
"I sacrifice Switch 2 rumors and summon Zelda news! This duel is over, you are a third rate fami user with a fourth rate prediction"

Edit: prediction fits better lol

For the Resident Evil stuff remeber that Outbreak was a complete different rumor than Outrage

Outbreak name appered in a leaked list(in dont rember if it was the Nvdia leak) leading to rumors of some kind of remaster of Oubreak

Also Tose is 100% on a RE game, they basically always do, it depends if it single playe or not, and can easily been Ourbreak remaster

For other rumors, Dusk, before leaving the leak scene, said that he was sure that there is somekind of Rebecca Resident Evil game, whatever is related to Switch or not

MonolithSoft carrying 2023 on their back between Zelda, Xenoblade 3 DLC and the Baten Kaitos remake. Imagine being that talented.

He’s still does videos on the guy’s channel.

And ykw, since we’re just having the most fun time discussing Nintendo YTers I might as well admit that I still watch his stuff on occasion. The vast majority of his content is whatever and his views and takes are ABSOLUTELY abhorrent, but every so often I’ll throw a video of his on for some mindless entertainment.

(It’s honestly pretty easy for me to look past him since he’s kinda just a jerk loser, unless someone has a story to tell that I’m unaware of I’m pretty sure he’s never actually hurt anyone, and it’s not like his viewer base is big enough to actually start any garbage)
I'm pretty sure RogersBase is in no way shape or form associating with that B1tBl0ck guy anymore, dropped him years ago IIRC. I wouldn't either, he's just not a good person.

EDIT: nevermind :(

Arlo is only good imo when he talks about the hyper-specific things that interest him. His 4-hour review of Pikmin 1 was actually very enjoyable. He has a few select, niche things that he really loves and it can be fun to hear him talk about those things, but when he tries to speak about Nintendo as a whole or the industry or anything else, you realize he really doesn't know what he's talking about at all.
I've not watched a single one of his videos, but I feel like it's interesting to hear people talking about things that excite them. If I ever start a Youtube channel, it's just gonna be about weird shit like Mario 3 maps being great.
I'm super not surprised people can gravitate towards gigantic essays when they're made with love as opposed to quick clickbait garbage even if both are done by a single person.
