"It's possible that, if Nintendo has such a game, they may show it at this event". I miss the days of good old fashioned leaking
c'mon there's no way that was even meant as a tease

people always say natedrake should just participate in the community but when he just spitballs with us people get mad at him for being oblique

let the man speculate with us

Seriously. I really miss hearing from Emily and people like Captain, too, but it's not for lack of hints or leaks. I just enjoy having them around and talking and speculating, having fun on the site.

Regardless of notoriety, all members are allowed to speculate as much as they’d like. Please refrain from telling other members what they can and can’t do. - Red Monster, Harina, Irene, Derachi

I guess unpopular take: his notoriety/fame is entirely due to (i) his apparent access to insider sources, and (ii) his willingness to share that on his channel or on sites like this. He can't reap the fame and then cry foul when anyone takes what he says as a hint/tease

Honestly, for me the Switch years go:
2018 > 2019 > 2020 > 2017 > 2021 > 2022

I never played my Switch less than I did last year. I loved Pokémon Legends and Kirby but that’s about it. I don’t really like RPGs outside of Pokémon and last year was very RPG heavy

well to be fair he's not, I just think it's lame

if it's not explicitly a tease don't take it as one

saying stuff like "If Nintendo has this game in development it's possible it could show up at this event" I can't see how that is a tease

May I ask what made 2018 the best year for you? I'm not trying to challenge you at all, I'm just genuinely curious since 2018 is often considered to be one of the lesser Switch years by fans.

For me, Smash was really what I wanted more than anything at the time and that announcement came out of no where. I’ve never been more excited for a Switch game and it is still to this day my most played game on the console. I was in college when it came out and we would play in the dorm so often that my Switch pretty much always had Smash running.
Of course, I was also super hyped for Pokémon Let’s Go, being a huge fan. And I know it wasn’t the best received game but I personally really liked the cozy vibes and played a ton of that game as well (I think I have like 140 hours).
So while there weren’t as many heavy hitters as other years, the games that did come out were so impactful to me personally that it was my favorite year

I totally understand that! Yeah, Smash Bros. was big enough that it pretty much carried the weight of 2018. I also really liked Pokémon Let's Go, and it was the first Pokémon game I actually beat since the original Pokémon Snap. I actually do have pretty fond Switch-related memories of the last couple of months of 2018 because of those two games. Also, Octo Expansion in summer of that year is probably one of my favorite DLC packs for any game ever.

I kind of like that new guy at Gamexplain. What’s his name? The funny guy. My only problem is , why is he working at GameXplain ?
His name is Jake. And I agree he clearly brings something to GameXplain. Judging by his constant hustle and bustle, I'm not sure if that "something" is a legal product.
Speaking of GameXplain, I really like the content of the Good Vibes Gaming channel.

2023 will probably be the Zelda/2D Mario/Fire Emblem/Pikmin show with a couple of smaller titles and a LOT of DLC in between. Yeah yeah I know it's pessimistic.

It all depends on what you call smaller titles. If in 2023 we have, for example, Advance Wars, Prime HD, Kid Icarus HD and Detective Pikatchu as "small games" in addition to the 4 big releases you mention (Zelda, 2D Mario, Fire Emblem, Pikmin), it will actually be a great year, in my opinion. Not to mention all the DLC we already know about.

Unpopular take, but insiders should be allowed to have alt accounts. That way speculation doesn't get mixed with hints.

"Hello, my name is DrateNake and I come from... uh... someplace far away (yes, that will do). Anyway, I say we talk about video games in a non-confidential, uninformed manner".

(If you're reading this, sorry Nate. If you don't find it particularly funny I will delete this)

Maybe this version of Nate will finally give us some answers as to what he has heard regarding new hardware. 😄

where's Baten Kaitos Remake my beloved

Why it doesn’t need advertising? People wants to know what’s different between the first and the second one, until now we know 0.

It’s not about the final trailer, we need the FIRST trailer.
this fact literally scares me 😭 no info about the game whatsoever however I believe N will do the same thing as before tell as little as possible with BOTW so that any surprises would not get spoiled

If it's not Nintendo Prediction for 2023, what would it be? Direct Prediction? New Hardware Talk?
Direct prediction would occupy the same space as 2023 predictions for Nintendo. This might be a too-optimistic reading, but maybe the sources have pulled through enough where Nate can comment definitively on the possibility of hardware this calendar year and therefore doesn't have to frame them as predictions.

Realistically though, I'm expecting Zelda marketing talk or a recap of Nintendo's 2022.

Because of job listings and Sakurai's hint
Sakurai ain’t hinting at shit, though. Dude made a little joke at the end of one of his videos and everyone decided to take it as confirmation he was working on an Uprising remake and remaster. But there’s no way in hell he would be that unprofessional IMO. He has to know more than anyone how harsh NDAs can be and I can’t imagine he would take any chances, especially considering what Smash speculation turned into.

“3D action” is loose enough a genre descriptor that it could be literally any sort of game in 3D space. After a platformer or Zelda game, Kid Icarus would probably be the most logical assumption, but it’s Nintendo. They’re known for describing the genres of their games in kinda dumb ways (see: Search Action). Job listings are purposely vague anyway, for the same reasons Sakurai wouldn’t say anything about Kid Icarus if he were actually working on it.

That feeling when the first game in the Direct ends and you are waiting who is gonna be a host but you know that they alternates between Koizumi and Takahashi. And you are still curious who will it be.

So it seems like the Dragon Quest game for mobile was the second Omega Force announcement that was promised for January

I wish we got more console Dragon Quest games. So many of us would love to play and revisit older Dragon Quest games on consoles but instead most Dragon Quest games are phone releases only or not released outside of Japan. What a strange choice to make

Ehh, let's agree to disagree. It's possible to tease something without confirming it, that happens all the time in the gaming industry. The 3D action listing confirmed it was a remake, and given that it was from Bandai Namco I doubt it's a Mario or Zelda game. Kid Icarus makes the most sense.

I'd rather believe that Kid Icarus is coming over a Metroid Prime rumor for the SIXTH year in a row.

For other rumors, Dusk, before leaving the leak scene, said that he was sure that there is somekind of Rebecca Resident Evil game, whatever is related to Switch or not
There was some alleged descriptions of beta tests for this game going around back then, Rebecca investigating an university in which a zombie outbreak occured, it sounded super cool.

Resident Evil Village leaked the exact same way so it sounded probable, but it might just have been a way to make a fake leak more believable. Honestly Dusk Golem always seemed like pretty gullible to me, wouldn't be surprised if he believed in it a bit too blindly simply because it was similar to how Village leaked.
